  1. But I want to use TAT. The interface is so much better. If it works on all of the other 975X boards, it should work on this one too. SG gives the exact same readings as CT..so that's good.
  2. Got all my C2D stuff up and running, minus the watercooling for now and it freakin rocks. Just for comparison sake, I tran a SuperPi 1m and pulled down 21.07 @ stock 2400. I barely made it under 30 on any AMD setup. Had no problems setting anything up. Everything booted the first time. The only thing I changed is my memory started as 667 at 1.8v. I upped it to 800 and 2.1. The only problem I see so far is the Intel Thermal Analysis Tool. If I try to run it, I get some enumorator error and it ends. Not only does it end, it clocks the multiplier from 9x to 6x. I've read everyone with the DFI board is having this issue. What's up with it if anyone can shed some light on this.
  3. If it says SLI at boot...success! No, any SLI bridge won't work. It has to be single spaced or flexible. Get an Asus flex bridge from ebay and be done with it.
  4. I just don't know if the ATI chipset will be any better than Nvidia. Hey...I could be wrong, but it seems the best results for Intel are with Intel chipsets. Since ATI is AMD, you would think AMD would try to not make it easy on Intel and you would think that Intel and Nvidia would pair up for SLI to hurt AMD....
  5. If the steak requires sauce....buy better meat.
  6. There is only one. The Infinity 975X/G. The best bang for the buck is the E6600.
  7. I'm gonna keep it I think. Hopefully the LanParty board will be out at ZZF in 30 days. It's already listed on the website, so it can't be too far off. The Asus NF590 showed up around two weeks after it was listed. If it shows up within the 30, I'll return the Infinity. Don't think cooling will be an issue. I would hope my Storm could tame the beast. Why are these things so hot? They only run at 65w...geez, even overclocked they draw the same as an X2 at stock.
  8. Well..the NF590 Asus board was first offered on ZZF at 299.00 and it's already down to 249.00. If the DFI board turns out to be a mega overclocker, I would expect it to not come down as much as fast.
  9. I thought it was the eagerly awaited LanParty C2D board. I think it's funny that Angry doesn't even have an engineering sample to test out and a retailer is already listing it. Hopefully they'll have it for sale in 30 days and I will return the 975X/G and plunk down the extra cash for this one.
  10. Don't mean to threadjack, but is everybody happy with their 975X/G? I ordered one and haven't gotten it yet and I'm having second thoughts. I've been reading reviews and the majority of them are leaning to the bad side. Some of the reviews range from the board is still too expensive for a budget board to it's one of the worst overclocking boards for C2D. I'm really wondering if I should RMA and switch to the P5WDH. The P5B, or any 965 board, wouldn't be an option because I've read it can only run DDR2 800 at 1.8v-1.9v @ 5 or 6 latency and that doesn't go with the memory I bought. It seems that the Asus boards have a better chance of hitting 400+ than this board. Sure...some will like Angry and Old Guy, but they seem to be the exception and not the norm. I'm not talking of the people that claim the are doing 425-500 stable on the Asus boards. I think those are BS as well. I simply want a board that has the best chance of hitting 400....no higher. It doesn't seem that the Infinity may be the board for this.
  11. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=246517 ZZF usually posts it on their site 2-3 weeks before they actually have stock. 300.00...ouch.

Is this a new game? Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter PC Retail It came with my E6600 from ZZF. Placed my order Tuesday and it still hasn't shipped. It shows packed now. Every other time I have ordered from ZZF, it shipped the day after I ordered. I upgraded to 2nd day hoping I could play with my C2D this weekend...guess not.
  13. Well...I went with the GSKILL DDR2 800 HZ's. 300 freakin dollars for a 2 GB kit.
  14. Tell me about it. I haven't overclocked an Intel in like...never. The only Intel system I ever built, besides a really old P166 years ago was a 3.0e for my father and he didn't OC. I had an HP 333, a Dell 700, a Gateway 1.4, and then a Dell 2.4 and then a 3200+, 3800+, 4400+...
  15. Okay bear with me here. If you aren't running a FSB of greater than 400, DDR2 800 will still be underclocked, right? So if you run 390 FSB, it's only running at 780. How in the hell are people claiming DDR1000? That's a 500 FSB.
  16. No HSF or warranty from amd
  17. Dang...people complain about the price of DDR, DDR2 is more expensive. I'll look at Mushkin and GSkill. HG recommended Buffalo Firestix as well.
  18. All of my X2 stuff is about sold and had enough from the sales so far for the following that I just ordered from ZZF. ZZF was cheaper and you get a free Ghost Recon game with the 6600 Was going to get the 6700, but almost 1.00 extra per MHz didn't seem economically viable: Item No. Description Price Qty Ext. Price -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 80860 IntelĀ® Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe Processor 2.4GHz, 1066FSB, LGA775, 4MB Cache Retail ***Free Shipping*** $313.90 1 $313.90 246514 DFI INFINITY 975X/G 975X P4/Pentium D/CoreTM2 1066FSB LGA775 DDR2 ATX Motherboard w/Audio, Gigabit LAN, RAID/Serial ATA Retail ***Free Shipping*** $179.99 1 $179.99 610757 Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter PC Retail ***Free Shipping*** $0.00 1 $0.00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sub Total: $493.89 Discount: $0.00 Sales Tax: $0.00 Shipping: $3.99 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ORDER TOTAL: $497.88 Now on to memory. The OCZ seems to have issues at times. It's great that their support is good, but it wouldn't do me a lick of help to have to use other RAM to set the timing and voltage. Being I'm an ex AMD guy, I don't have spare DDR2 laying around. Is there any other RAM that will work with no issues?
  19. That's probably because they all get around the same overclocks. 2.8 ish is the most these are usually capable of.
  20. Can you RAID four drives together on the Intel chipset? I swore that I have read you can't. I will probably go with the DFI board, because it's cheaper and this forum. Also, the last thing I want to get is an Asus board with an old BIOS that won't support C2D out of the box. Kinda hard to flash a BIOS with no spare 775 CPU. I also have read quite a few of the Asus boards won't run DDR2 800. No GSkill?
  21. Ooops...wrong place. Meant to post in recommendations thread. Is the 6800 really worth it for the unlocked multiplier? Would it o/c well or do about the same as a 6600 or 6700? I have read a lot of the motherboards are having problems with the unlocked multiplier on the Extreme. Does the DFI have the same issue? Now that I have sold all my main parts of my system. It's time to start looking. I'd like to go with the Infinity, but it's a tossup between that and some Asus 965 or 975 right now. I'll probably go with the 6600, and I'm just feeling out if the 6700 or 6800 is worth it. What about memory? I know absolutely nothing about DDR2 or Intel anymore.
  22. No trades unless you got an E6600 or good C2D board. I was going to wait for a good SLI C2D board, but I don't even trust the 590 and I'm not running modded drivers, so I'm going now. I'm getting 1200.00 bucks in mileage travelling back and forth to Tampa on business...so free money= C2D. Why fly when this can fund my C2D? I already sold one of my 7900GT's I think. All the w/c stuff is because I split everything into two loops. I won't bother with the NB and with only one GPU I'll be fine with one D5 and the double HC.
