  1. I have a few questions regarding the creative X-FI. Just as an update, has their issue with NF4 mobos been fixed (either on their end or with a bios update from DFI)? Also I can easily find very good deals on audigys 2 so is it even worth it to get the newer X-FI? I would use it to listen to movies and my mp3 collection via some good quality headphones and a 5.1 promedia Klipsch system. As a third question can you guys recommend some really good headphones preferably under 100 USD (for movies and music as mentioned earlier). PS. I hope the first question make this tread eligible to be in the NF4 section of the forum. Anyway thanks in advance for your replies.
  2. I have a quick question: is the v1000 the silver or the black model?
  3. I'm sorry but I'm a bit confused by that last smilie. So is that last sentence sarcastic meaning that the silencer is crap because of its poor 5% voltage regulation? Just making sure.
  4. Thanks guys for the quik replies I guess i'll try the multimeter. Btw does anyone know why the mobo is so inacurate at readings? Also does anyone have any experiences with the cheaper Silencer series PC P&C PSUs? Are they close in quality as they more expensive ones such as Turbo Cool? I know I'm probably just too much of a perfectionist. Well lets hope it will continue to run good.
  5. Sorry I forgot to mention that. They are from the ITE guardian. I hope they are at least fairly acurate.
  6. Well to help a roomate i gave him my Antec smartpower 2.0 ATX power supply and upgraded to a PC Power & Cooling SILENCER 470 ATX. I figured that PC P&C makes the best so even their cheaper series would top notch. The problem is that my 12V and 3.3V rails seem to run a bit low on the PC P&C: 12V - 11.71 3.3V - 3.18 5V - 5.02 on the Antec they used to run: 12V - 11.96 3.3V - 3.23 5V - 4.97 it seems like the antec values are far closer to optimum, so did I just waste my money on the PC P&C? Also with values so low will the PC P&C be very sensitive to even the smallest brownouts? The PSU was purchased from PC P&C directly so its not a fake and here are the official specs: http://www.pcpowercooling.com/products/vie...php?show=S47ATX I've done some load tests on the PC P&C and the rails seem stable at their low values as they are. For load i've ran prime 95 with some photoshop work and a few other apps in the background. Thanks in advance for the replies.
  7. well your initial temps were not great but acceptable and potentially caused by that thermal pad. Why get a top notch cooler and not use AS5? also I never heard of anyone heating up the CPU to remore thermal compound. You normally want to use some alcohol. Running the CPU without a heatsink is a big no no and its very likelly that you might have damaged it. I guess now the best thing is to try that XP90 again properly installed with AS5 and run some stress tests (after you veryfy of course that you are getting better temps)
  8. anandtech actually postulated that it might actually be a bit improved: http://anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2452&p=3
  9. I'm a bit confused, i'm not aware of any special SLI power conector. I only know of the aditional power conectors for each video card. But those are not SLI specific. Oh and BTW the smartpower 500 does come with 2 of those.
  10. well it is suposed to be made with old school BH5 so it should overclock very well.
  11. I stand corrected, i really was under the impression that it hurts performance. I'll make sure to turn mine on too
  12. Kakoon unless you have vital data on your hard drives and you need to have them monitored for any signs of failure disable your S.M.A.R.T since it does slow down your HD performance. This might be another reason for the lower score
  13. in general mixing and maching memory is not a good idea. Also with 4 sticks your memory will underclock to a stock setting of DDR333.
  14. well actually according to a maximum PC test, there should not be any differences in game level loading because it seems most of the time they are CPU limited rahter than HD.
