  3. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15422 I have never read anyone saying anything good about ntune on DFI forums. It should be terminated and removed before it terminates your sys.
  4. Search NTUNE on this forum. Uninstall it ASAP~! Before it does any damage. First random link from the ntune search I just did says no also. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...highlight=ntune
  5. Well, the nf4 ultra-d board was on the egg today and so I got it and a 2.0 winchester and the speakers. $366.00 pre shipping total. So all I am missing is PS Mem HD VCard (gonna get spendy I fear. ) Prolly go Ocz, ocz,wd,? then I am going to do some serious hands on learning an hopefully not cook anything. If ya see any good deals on the remaning items this 4'th, please pm or post them here. Thanks. *(Dfi's own scurilous and scurvey dog pirate on a treasure hunt for bargain rates.)
  6. Samsung is the only thing I avoid like the plauge, nec cant go wrong I agree. Aopen I have plugged into many a cheaper machine without hitch. *(well at lweast I never saw them again haha) and I have a plain DVD I will use for all viewing till it dies. I can and have upgraded firmware, but usually only when mandatory.
  7. Happy Fourth, and the egg has started early. Feeling fat and happy today so I might start on the DFI build. Any opinions on any of these parts ? thx in adance. Page three of the specials has aAGP 8X/4X- NF3 ULTRA-D Socket 939 for $119 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813136161 but I am getting the ultra d nf4 again as listed in sig so thats a no go . *(for compatible parts with pc in sig.) $47.00 Probably get 2 x of this speaker set if its decent. 8. Cool toy for Radio Controlled stuff. Not my thing, but an impressive video. http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=HydroFoam
  9. Any HD or CDrom or any OLD hardware or Motherboard will have Jumpers. Any Jumper will do. Have fun destructing something to get the spares/replacements. In the long run spares for such occasions are worth a few cuts on the old knuckles. Buy a good phillips (8 dollar model) and dive in to whatever old cases you can find. PS Put your sig like the sticky up top and you will get a lot more help alot faster. *(hit sig in user cp top left. )
  10. Just a thought but what I would do as it sounds like it is still in the case. Perhaps it is shorting out because of something in the case itself..... I would yank it all from the case and build it from scratch again. If it has one, I would trash the nipple standoff *(middle center ) and use a standard standoff in the case when I put the board back in. Good luck with it.
  11. Might try here. Mbm5 thread. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...&highlight=mbm5
  12. Hrm, Just a guess, but are you swapping a HD with a copy of XP already on it into the machine or trying for a new install and its doing it after the fresh install ? This is where I would start *(step by step nf4 build) http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6615
  13. search teh intarweb for "floppy to molex" you will find plenty of adapters that will get you the extra floppy connector you need. (*3 or 5 bucks or less most places.)
  14. Depends on the knife. Fancy and I would use a stick/wand on it only. I probably would just get one of the plastic handheld sharperners. *(the ones with dual stones that you just drag the knife through the V.) Thats what the local guy who cleans fish uses. Right now he is cleaning somer Red Snapper for me ! !! ! ! ! ! ARRR He burns through Dexter Russels like they were candy but he can clean hundreds of pounds per hour. I use a dexter russel Tiger Saw at work and have the knuckle divots to prove it. We had a 8 hour (*departed 5 am central), and then we went back out with Boss's wife And a guy we know and his GF and her two kids for a play trip. We got 2 black sea bass, 1 spanish mackrel,1 gag grouper, 22 Red Snappers, 1 triggerfish. It was a freebie (non paying trip) so I get half the haul ~ ! *(aND I am invited to dinner with the 23 & 25 year old daughters. ) So after 14 hours (12 on the4 water) OMG did I mentionhow awesome the weather was !! I am reloading and going to haVE a beer with them and chill. We kicked butt on the 8 hour also : 5 groupers and a limit of snappers and about 20 triggerfish and 1 king mackrel and one mangrove snapper. I didn't get to fish then so it wasnt as fun. Now to go enjoy the scenery and the AC. Waiiit, http://www.hiliner.com/comm/knives1.htm my beloved tiger Saw is renamed "Tiger Slicer" and "second" generation product now. Anyhoo, you wanna fillet get a Dexter Russel.
  15. Cardboard for teh win ~ ! I lay cardboard down and then throw a light colored towel on the surface. When you drop a screw, it stays where it lands for the most part. (Otherwise, they are hard to find in my tan carpet.) On a build, I just pour out the packs of screws in piles on the towel near the monitor and they stay put. I also use an upside down 50 pack CD lid to store my spare screws in. Probably have 500 pcs of assorted screws etc, that I have salvaged over time. I can find what I need there most times, just takes longer. Good luck with it.
  16. Absolutley not. *(untill you reach a level of tech comfort and are ready to modify it or reseat it. (also this probably voids warranty.) Start here : http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1541 Make a complete signature so everyone can see what your trying to make work. THen you should check tis thread about page 4 or 5 http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6615 Also see the modifications section and check any thread about nf4 chipsets. (temps, tips, suggestions and mods.)
  17. In your book are the led codes. Page 16 I think. (also on this link.) http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...705&postcount=4 Once you get past that, use step by step build inst. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...04&postcount=49
  18. Yes, You bought a racehorse and you feed it premium food. Don't starve it of juice. Search google for "floppy to molex" and pick up a 4 pin to floppy connector for $ 5 if you want to also run a floppy in normal day to day operations. I have seen a few threads where some flashed bios /installed raid with 3 plugged into the board and then they immediately unplugged the floppy and had all 4 plugged to the board after that. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...04&postcount=49 I used this post from the build thread and it helped me a lot.
  19. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/search.php?searchid=116112 I pasted "cool N quiet not working with venice " in advanced search and looks like match number 6 of 6 should answer your question. What changes in 4/14 NF4 Bios ? _________________________________ http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9587 post # 2 taken from xtreme forums Added support for Venice and San Diego Cool n Quiet -1,3 (TCCD) -2 (BH-5,UTT)
  20. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...=San+Diego+bios Have you checked and made sure your shipping bios is correct for your processor ? sig shows 1/25/ bios and I went to 3/10 befopre I ever started an install. *(someone with more DFI experience will have to assist with the correct one to flash to if that is the case.)
  21. Start by making a signature. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1541 Hint you will prolly have to re edit your first post and add it manually. Unknowns : Memory & BIOS. Did you follow a build thread ? http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6615 About page 4 or 5 it gets fine tuned.
  22. Bummer. I asked and it was machine to machine. *(but the error messge was the same and I thought it might be a similar issue.) Could be a driver issue and have you tried here already? http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/index.php *(I woulda looked but you have to register to search.)
  23. Pc in sig is offsite and this is the email from the boss and we discussed it quite a bit as he connected it to his other pc. (we are a team of two and spend 8-10 hours a day together.) Basically I will give you the gist of the conversation and the end result. According to his research its not uncommon for windoze to do this and this is the fix he used to go machine to machine. *(He just linked them for kicks and hasnt rebuilt his home netrwork yet, but the circumstances are similar and prolly will lead you on the right path. ) Error msg is the same anyway and thats what caught my eye. anyway this is the email I recieved after he got it to fileshare so he could drag files accross without gutting his old machine and slaveing the drive. ____________________________________________________________ You might want to save this. Not enough server storage Not enough server storage is available to process this command. Not enough memory to complete transaction. Close some applications and retry. These error messages can indicate the IRPStackSize bug on the other machine (the server that has the share). On that computer open the event log and check for event ID 2011. If this is present, it is a strong indication for this particular bug. To repair it, you have to reset the IRPStackSize parameter back to its default value of 15 on the server where the share is. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Services lanmanserver parameters Check for the presence of a value named IRPStackSize. If it doesn't exist, create it as type DWORD. With base set to decimal, enter the value 15. Reboot the computer. One frequent culprit is Norton AntiVirus, which tends to change this parameter. Check also this Microsoft Knowledge Base article. It does not mention Windows XP, but applies to XP as well. Antivirus Software May Cause Event ID 2011 (Q177078) EDIT not sure if it was machine to machine or on his network, but it is a Raid machine and he had trouble getting it to play nice and swap files with his old machine. Will ask tomorrow and re edit this about 15 or so hours from now. ___________________________________________________________ EDIT from page 3 or 4. I was close, email might have whammied the font or something ...
  24. I stole it from something awful some time ago. Found it in my photobucket today and thought some here might get a kick out of it. Should be in spec, if not then del image and this is link for same. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/InK...OctoberRust.jpg Haynes VS Chilton, the debate rages on.
