  1. Try searching. there was a huge thread on raid with lots of benchmarks by AG and others on hitachi drives. I'm not an expert so I won't bother to try and add anything other than that.
  2. I've always used the -2 bios although they tend to act more like tccd with the low volts and all. I've only ran 1-25 316 and the 6-23 that I have now. I've never tried flashing different bios since they fit with my oc pretty well. Post if you find that a -1 or 3 works better. I may change to 704-bt pretty soon to see if I can do better. 8 mal is kind of wack.
  3. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...light=PowerChip This is the old thread that me and shinobi had for a while. You can try forum search for cadt or powerchip and get some hits. I've got mine at 250 2.5-4-3-8 right now. They're not too bad overall. I could get 240 2338 but make sure you have a big 120 or 2x80mm fans over top of them. Anything over 2.8 and you'll get no benefit of voltage. They ran about as good at 2.5-2.6 as 2.7. My set is a 2x512 set so they may be a little better than single sticks. I can't run mal at 7 on my opteron now though but those should be good on a winchester or venice. they are really pretty fast for value at those timings. I guess you can call them "value" but they are more like mid level performance ram imo. Good luck.
  4. multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)WINDOWS="execute" /execute /fastdetect Right click my computer and go to advanced-startup and recovery manually edit your boot.ini. Copy this under the operating systems list, then "save as" change to all files and name boot.ini. You can boot regularly still also so it wont hurt anything unless you mess up editing the boot.ini. Don't replace the regular winxp entry just enter to make a new line and paste. Where it says partition 2 above change that to partition 1 if your windows is c drive, mine is d. It may not be that though since I can run 280 on regular xp. It turns off data execution prevention. I couldn't use a 9x multi until I did this. The system would just hang right before boot. BTw you can totally hose up your windoze if you don't do this right. As long as you don't delete the normal winxp entry from the list though you will be fine.
  5. Thats the 0536gpmw? Much better than mine. I could get 2750 at about 1.55 but it took a huge .o9 to get 2800. It really didn't want to run 2800.
  6. I wouldn't let a bit higher voltage worry you too much. Opterons seem to be a bit more tolerant of voltage than venices. I've seen guys running 1.85 volts and that would've killed most anything else instantly. In two years amd's will be running 6ghz so your chip isn't going to be worth a lot by then. Not that a 10% overvolt is going to hurt it. You could OV by 10% and run your chip forever most likely but having too much voltage differential between ram and cpu will kill it quicker, it's a pretty easy decision what to do. I wonder if that problem works both ways? What if you have 2.6 for your ram and 1.7 on your cpu? That give a .4 differential going the other way does that cause problems also?
  7. Laydback what voltage are you using to get 3gig?
  8. Interesting catch you've made ix. I've always known that all the vids were a bit different even though they are close but never tried checking them before. Just from looking in the bios and using the vid table from the oc sticky I've noticed some of them don't give anything near what they should. Some of the math is off on the table also. Anyway here is my data.... bios 1.35 * 123% = 1.6605 (the vid table shows 1.661-regardless not bad) MBM 5 1.62 or 1.63 as it varies. Idle 1.662 Load 1.680 So vcore is going up by .018 or 1.1% roughly. Doesn't sound like a lot but in cpu terms it's not inconsiderable and it's good to know this is happening. My MM is a $30 unit from radio crack so a fluke it's not but I have no reason to believe it's off. Also I used the screw for ground but I doubt that matters. I did this by running sp2004small fft's. You guys using occt might not get as big of a pop as I don't think occt hits the cpu quite as hard. My temps are usually 2-3c lower in occt than prime so it can't be working as much. Just a theory but I'm too lazy to measure again now.

  10. The best thing about it imo is you can change to a setting and try it without risk of having to clear the cmos. If you try a setting in tweaker and the system freezes or bsod's it's a good bet you would have had to clear cmos. In tweaker just reboot and your back to normal.
  11. Or just have ix order your chip. He seems to have magnificent luck.
  12. I'm not sure about a cabge. I thought I saw a 0540 one that was good but I can't remember for sure. Bang for the buck wise I'd definitely get an opteron over a 4000+. I'd wait or look hard for an 0540 cabye. Those things are stellar. 3100mhz occt stable at like 1.575. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showth...&page=100&pp=25 There's two on this page and they rule.
  13. You've got a 4000+ already. I doubt a 144 cabbage would be much of an upgrade. A downgrade is more like it. What does your 4000 get?
  14. The first of those 148 oem's at monarch were cabne or cabye 0528's. Some people got nice chips there but rumor has they are cabge now. Don't know for sure. If anyone can find the 0540 cabye's they are sweet.
