  1. I am posting on behalf of my friend who had trouble getting a GeForce 7800GTX to let him into windows with it installed. He was replacing 2 MSI 6800's SLI'd with it and the computer wouldn't let him load windows with only one 6800 or the 7800. Only in SLI'd 6800's. And yes the jumpers on the board where set. But I walked him through a clean boot and he uninstalled the old drivers and still didn't help. So I suggested try a reformat and start fresh. Well he ran into a problem of ACPI non-compliant. He hit F5 at the F6 prompt on install and when he gets to the window it wont let him select any of the HAL's. Up down arrows don't work Page Up and Down don't do it either. It stays on Other and above it is the Standard PC with C-Step i486. He can choose any other option there but the HAL's. Any Idea's? He tried 2 keyboards also. He is running a Lan Party UT SLI-DR. If you need anything else like sys specs I can ask him. I am trying to keep this simple for now.

  3. Alright resolved it myself. I searched and searched and finally found in microsofts data base that it could be my Registry upper and lower filters keys. I deleted them and wah-la! If anyone in the future has an error code in device drivers have them bumb it against Microsofts data base. And warn them that editing registry is a chance to get to reformat. Luckily i didn't have to ......again. Edit: God am I so F***ing Happy! Damn!
  4. I just found out that the Nero INCD that came with the DVDRW was causing it. InCdsrv.exe. I uninstalled it and it corrupted my DVD-Roms drivers.Something about upper and lower filters is the error it gave me. Now I have no DVD drivers and Liteon doesn't have any on the web. I have no idea how to get them to update now. In device manager they have ! next to them including something called IV 1237P EBK275V SCSI CdRom Device. I need drivers for all of them. IV 1237P EBK275V SCSI CdRom Device Lite-On DVD SOHD-16P9SV Lite-On DVDRW SHM-165H6S Edit: I tried doing a Windows Repair on reboot but it seemed to do nothing. Under Device status in the Device Manager it says for all three: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
  5. I don't understand how this can happen again after I just reformated?? They worked fine before the first format and now I just can't sort it out. Both of them at that.
  6. Did nothing to fix it. Ran the sfc /scannow after using Registry Mechanic 5.2 from PCTools and didn't fix it.
  7. Again after a reformat this happened again I'm trying PROBN4LYFE and seeing if this fix's it.
  8. with the 3/10 bios I have it up to 2.45 ghz with Angies bios settings.
  9. Well I just recovered from flashing my bios to the newest one and I couldn't get it to load into windows with out blue screen of death and decided since I was going to try reformat again any ways. Well I formated and still had BSOD during windows install. So luckily I had my old bios flash disk still and reflashed it with the old bios and was able to finish the format. I can't get any bios to work besides the one in my sig. Loaded optimized settings in bios and reset my bios with the jumper. And still nothing.

  11. Alright I just reformated and I don't know if this is a motherboard problem but since it is an IDE problem I was hopping to guys could help me once again. I have two Liteon DVD drives one is a burner the other is a read. Both won't install any programs from disc. Except Call of Duty 2 for some reason and some drivers discs work. But alot of everything else gives me this error "E: is not a valid win32 application" I've tried reinstalling the drivers for the mobo I've uninstalled the drives and reinstalled them for the DVD drives. Even unistalled and reinstalled the IDE drivers that there connected too. I'm at a lose as to what to do. They worked fine before the reformat. And Liteon doesn't have a support site that I could find. Very crappy web page many of there links are broke. Thanks for any help that can be given. Edit: and there is no firm ware or driver updates I could find for them there model #'s are SHM-165H6S04C (Burner), and SOHD-16P9SV (Reader)
  12. Right on thanks. I have them working now!. Appreciate it folks.
  13. Ok I had the jumpers right. I can see them both there under computer managment. But it says unallocated for them both. How do I change that?
