  1. Pretty sure... It isn't fluctuation. CPU Control x CPU Special = VCore = what the CPU receives as soon as the OS takes over. The special simply allows more granular control. CPU Startup is provided from power on through POST.

  3. It sounds like general instability. You're fine running prime, but multitasking is putting on too much strain. For a while, I was 24+ hours stable, but going in and out of screensaver too fast would crash. I don't think it's a bug.
  4. Flash to the 3/10 BIOS at least. Try VDIMM of 2.7. If there are any USB componenets, get rid of them for the initial install.

  7. The PowerStream 600 is an excellent call. PC Power and Cooling also has an ultra-high-end PSU (I forget the rating), but the OCZ will take you where you want to go.
  8. Trust the BIOS settings and your math. Software won't tell you the correct VCore (or temp, or rail strength, etc.). The setting is what is always supplied. The special is just to allow increments less than .025. It isn't a just-in-case buffer.
  9. I'm not sure what Auto sets it to. For that reason, I never keep it at Auto. VID Control x VID Special = VCore. 1.425x1.04 = 1.482
  10. If you're running the 1/25 BIOS (shipping BIOS), flash to 3/10 official or one of the newer betas. VDIMM up to 2.7; start over the install, complete with reformat.
  11. Brand doesn't really matter. Volume is usually the issue. jram - How high do you want to go? I can't tell if you're suggesting 3.65 or 3.8.
  12. 1) It should POST. You may want to have a BIOS update available, though (make the disk now). 2) It will default to 2x. You can jumper it to 8x, and you will probably not notice a difference. I think people have noted drops of about 100 points in 3DMark01. But that will be negated by the additional overclock you could get from third-party GPU cooling...maybe (I don't know about passive GPU cooling). 3) 300 is quite doable (1:1). The board supports up to 400 (not 1:1 ).

  14. All four are locked on nF4. I agree with 'clipse. 2-3 units at a time (not 25). And, if that's the same 2-3-2-6 OCZ that I had (for a short time), they don't overclock at all. Get to know your memory dividers. You'll also have to increase VCore as you go, but you'll definitely have to read up more on the overclocking process.
  15. The people who talk about going over 2.8 are probably on Brainpower PCB, which is rumored to respond well to voltage increase. I've never tested mine at higher than 2.9, and I stay at 2.7. If you have Brainpower, do a little research and see if it'll help.
  16. You will probably notice load time drops, but I'm not comfortable enough with the increased probability of data loss to ever run RAID 0. I'm more of a RAID 1 guy, so opposite end of the spectrum...but I'm too lazy to do either.
  17. You will need extra cooling, and VX is VX, not TCCD. Venice should be able to run 4 sticks at DDR400, but your o/c will probably be lower with 4 sticks than it would be with 2.
  18. I made my own bootable CD (not using whatever's offered here). So if you want to start over, do this... Download MS-DOS 7.1 bootdisk image. With the image, create a bootable CD with your chosen burn utility. This will create the first 'session' of the CD. Now, the 1.44MB at the inside of the disk is officially your A drive. Drag and drop the BIOS files to the CD. They will burn onto the outer sections of the disk, and will serve as your C drive. Boot to the CD. C: awdflash XXXX.bin /cc /yaddayaddayadda
  19. There is no bad board revision, so I don't know where you would've heard that. A00 just means it comes with the 1/25 BIOS (which wasn't very successful). So... 1) Flash to the 3/10 BIOS. 2) I'm not sure Win98 will work, anyway.
  20. Flash to a newer BIOS. You're using the 1/25, right now. The only way to change DRAM Voltage is to use PageUp/PageDown, then F10 save immediately after. Grab the 3/10 BIOS.

  22. I believe it is as follows (as far as timing)... Startup VID --> voltage processor receives during POST process (startup through POST beep). CPU VID x CPU VID Special Control --> voltage processor receives once the OS takes over
  23. Most people suggest staying below 1.65 (I stay at 1.6). Regardless of heat, high voltage can still do damage.
  24. First, load optimized defaults in the BIOS. Never flash while overclocked. Then follow your procedure. Wouldn't hurt to ground yourself, also.
