  1. i assume that 15-20 degree drop is in fahrenheit, right? EDIT: It's too bad somebody can't just make something like what Asus did that is compatible with the DFI
  2. sorry i kno this is probly the wrong section but I couldn't figure out where to put this thread. So I've heard that the Seasonic S12 has alot of issues with the DFI NF4 boards. Is that true? cause I'm tryin to find a good quiet PSU and im thinkin the S12 is the best but it obviously isnt if it wont work with my baord
  3. well i just need something that can keep my chipset under 50C and stay QUIET
  4. well if ne one does end up buying this: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/ind...roducts_id=4144 I would like to see how it works out.
  5. http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/ind...roducts_id=4144 this? thats probly what i'll end up gettin. anyone using this without a fan successfuly?? also would it be possible to set this up so it uses some of the intake airflow from an nvsilencer? kill 2 birds with one stone that way.
  6. I need to run my video card in the top slot tho. I need acess to one of those PCI slots for my sound card, and in the future i probly will need one for a physx card.
  7. i had thought about that i dont have a problem cuttin up heatsinks, but the mounting is kidna tricky on some of those. so im just to where iwanna get somethin premade
  8. well maybe one of u guys can help me heres what i need: -chipset cooler -MUST be able to use video card in top slot -MUST be able to use an nvsilencer -must be able to use both regular PCI slots -passive preferable
  9. i just remember that pounds and euros are more valuable than the dollar, and everything else is less valuable
  10. on the video card thing, yah i beleive the lowest cards to support SLI with the cable are 6600GT, BUT the new drivers allow software SLI, *I THINK*, so wait for confirmation on that.
  11. erggh i just called the san jose branch and it made me leave a message really a shame that DFI makes such good boards but doesnt have a decent tech support. I know that angry and rgone do there best, and im glad they try to help. But DFI just needs to hire some more ppl to work the phones, i mean come on, i should not have to leave a message when i call tech support.
  13. ok i tried exroadie's instructions, thy didnt fix the problem Reseated HSF, didnt fix problem, ive tried everything, i think this board is just fried now can soemone tell me how i RMA ? EDIT: btw another thing that makes me think this is the board is that my system was really unstable. I thought it was the CPU so I brought it back to the store, they gave me a new one. Same problems with the new one, and the store said that the original did 24 hours of dual prime, no problem. So I think its the board. But like i said, how in the world do I RMA? DFI's site is SO unhelpful
  14. really? No SATA drivers at all as long as u dont do RAID? Well that comes in handy
  15. yep I tried that. Ill try again tomorow mornin tho after lettin the CMOS bat stay out for 8 hours. But I already did use that DIMM slot. i beleive im using the latest DFI official one
  16. alright well unless I get some suggestion on how to fix this by tomorow mornin im gonna go ahead and start the RMA process. Can someone walk me through how to do this?
  17. alright heres the situation. I shutdown my computer to start my windows XP installation. I connected my floppy drive (to install SATA drivers), and started the system up. Ran teh first part of the XP installation. computer restarted to continue installation. I shut it down and took the floppy drive back out. Then Hit the power button, it turns on, sits for like 15 seconds at 4 LEDs, after which it goes down to 3 and sits and it wont go to two. So I think to myself, Oh ok, just reset CMOS. So i disconnect power, take the battery out, move the jumper over. Wait 30 minutes, move jumper back, put battery back in. Boot up, same thing happens. So I try just one stick of RAM, same problem. So I try the other stick of RAM, again same problem. Then I try different slots. SAME PROBLEM. So I take the RAM out and bring it down to a working machine and swap it out, the ram works fine. I guess the board is dead and needs to be RMAed?
  18. oh ok heh it was late for me and re ran out of caffeine. alright thats all i needed to know, i guess I wont use conformal coating then
  19. alright, typically the first step in condensation proofing. You cover up all pins, slots, sockets, and the like. Then you spray the board with a very thin layer of a clear, non conductive lacquer. I was planning on using it as a precautionary measure when i build my chillbox.
  20. just wondering, does a very lin clear conformal coating on the PCB of the mobo void the warranty? This is for an Ultra-D.
