    Anyone heard from aCidbAbY?

    The email he has in his profile is the one he uses MSN with... he hasnt been online for bout a year tho. On myspace i got 2 matches for acidbaby... one was a girl (maybe why he doesnt want to be contacted anymore...) and the other was that dude that sez he is 14. Reason I'm posting is I haven't heard form aCidbAbY in a while and have been trying to get in touch with him... he used to be a regular here back before phones didnt need cords and it was cheaper to fill up your fuel tank than buy a new car If anyone knows how I can get in touch with him let me know by PM or post in this thread Biggy thanks to all helpers Rabb

  4. Right... So my point that the CPU->RAM connection is not an HTT connection is correct yeah? From that it seems like: CPU->RAM = 64bit/128bit parallel bus CPU->Chipset = HTT I still dont see what all the fuss is about with RD580 being able to do a higher HTT speed... Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to RD580 a lot, but not for the HTT reason
  5. Seeing as the point im trying to make is that a HIGHER HTT wont really make much difference... try changing your LDT multi from 4x to 5x and run a few benchmarks to gauge the improvement... or lack of it
  6. i think you're confusing the CPU-to-RAM speed with the HyperTransport speed... HyperTransport is the link between the SB & NB, and between the NB & CPU as far as I know. Having a higher total HTT isnt going to effect memory bandwidth... not by a noticeable margin anyway... I guess there could be a benefit if you were running some bandwidth hungry PCI-E cards like high end sound card, capture card, add-in RAID card, Gigabit ethernet, physic processing unit(?), etc. I think the only real benefit is, as you said, making overclocking easier for newbies..

I was under the impression the HyperTransport bus wasnt being saturated as it is right now anyway... and seeing as ATI only use the NB chip for "SLI" there really isnt much necessity for increased NB->SB communication speeds is there? "HOW" would it help... I guess that's my question...??

    Not sure bro... but the confectionary isle in supermarkets seems to have that Reset effect... maybe the problem is they DONT HAVE ONE... so their settings constantly revert to prior ones without warning...

    I'm not sure about this but I think the 5 and 6 is their nanosecond rating... in which case the 5 will be faster than the 6 Also, ALL memory modules use a 6 layer PCB these days... maybe not all but a HUGE % do and I'm sure yours are 6 layer aswell [EDIT] From the Infineon Site CE-5 is rated at DDR400 3-3-3 CE-6 is rated at DDR333 2-3-3 / 2.5-3-3 CE-5 is better

    Try running the RAM at 1:1 (200 divider) with these timings 3-3-2-8 Apparently those modules can often run 250 @ 2.5-3-2-8 too

    Very nice results dude. Just out of curiousity... how does your RAM perform? I've heard a few rumours that the new OCZ PC4000 Platinum 3-3-2-8 RAM is based on the same chips as yours You might want to see if they run 3-3-2-8 timings at your 246MHz RAM speed....

    Highest FSB @ 2-2-2-5

    OCZ, Mushkin, Geil, TwinMOS, GSkill, Corsair... it makes very little difference mate... what it comes down to is really luck of the draw when you're talking about the ABSOLUTE HIGHEST performing 2-2-2-5 RAM Best BH5 I ever owned was Corsair... I tried Mushkin, Corsair & TwinMOS... I don't think it means all Corsair BH5 were the best or that their design was better... I just got lucky with that pair Best 2-2-2-5 RAM i EVER HAD was OCZ PC3200 VX Gold... 255 3.2v absolutely rock solid stable with timings in sig... most I ever gave them was 3.5v and they were SuperPI 32 MB stable and Memtest stable at 270 2-2-2-5... and that was on a socket 754 Clawhammer... I'm sure they'd have gone higher with more voltage What it comes down to is luck of the draw... but if you want the best chance I would recommend getting RAM that is already at least rated to DDR500... at least then if it cant run those speeds you are able to return them Good luck
