  1. Being a former intel guy myself and not long using the A64 platform I would suggest a 3800+ X2 if you do any moderate multi-tasking or you may be a little dis appointed
  2. If 310 works correctly for you go back to 310. You don't need 623 for that winnie . How does that saying go? If it aint broke.......
  3. Get rid of Ntune that is most likely your problem.
  4. WOW!!! ExRoadie you said a mouthful with a big dose of reality. I agree 110% of what you said. I come here 1..for fun...2..because I like helping others...3..In my qwest to help others I find solutions to problems i haven't heard before which increases my knowledge of computers. Old statement holds true...you get out what you put in!!!! I agree when it stops being fun I am out also. BTW a lot of the guys you mention including your self have helped me tremendously even though you may not know it . Because most of the time I don't ask the question when I need a answer. I instead search the forums. I reasearched this dang NF4 board for 5 months before I took the plunge. Read all I could read until my eyes were bleeding..lol. By the time I got the board I had at least 15 post bookmarked and had a pretty good idea of how to get this thing running with ease and were the snags were at thank to you early adopters. No need to stress though as I am sure the change coming will help out. Like I told AG a few weeks ago if you guys need help feel free to call onme. I will do what I can as long as it doesn't interfere with my commentment to another site where I am a mod
  5. I am at 1.3 and 113% to be stable at 2600. Results and settings in OCDB

  9. Yep. Nothing is gauranteed. A lot are getting right at 2800 if you look in the OCDB with the 4000+ . Don't mean that you will definately though. I am talking about stable to not just a screenie.
  10. download the one linked. Format your current floppy. Double click on the DL file and it will make a raid floppy for you. http://www.dfi.com.tw/Upload/Driver/NFORCE_R.exe
  11. The Rev 2 is fine imho. 2.8 on an x2 will be hard with less than water and even water may not make it. 2.8 stable is hard even with a single core. Just look at the OCDB and see how many can get there . It looks like the single core may be a better option for you? As always though OC'ing is a gamble so don't get your heart set on 2.8 unless you go FX .
  12. What raid drivers are you trying to use and where did you get them?
  13. Nope the 4000+ will not multi-task anywhere near as well. I am using rev2's Check the OCDB for the specs I can understand your reservations about the X2 but trust me this thing is a work horse. At least for the way I use my machine. I will put it this way. There is no way in hale after having an X2 that I would go back to a single core processor. I had a 3.0(Oced to 3.6) hyperthreaded p4 before I moved to AMD in about may of this year. Although the 3200 venice oc'ed to 2.5 was smoking fast in single apps compared to the intel IMHO it didn't cut it when multi-tasking. So naturally there was a little buyers remorse there and I felt like I side stepped instead of upgraded, but the gaming performance was so much better than the intel  . Then came along the X2 and all I can say is P what? Hyperthreaded what? No CPU I have ever owned can hold a candle to this thing with the DFI mobo. I am impressed and I can tell you I am not easy to impress.
  14. After rereading your post and looking at the above I have to wonder. Looks like th HDD diag passed the 2 drives singley but the raid failed? I highlighted the suspect part in red. Can you try a raid 0 just for crap and grins and see if it works that way?
  15. If you can get all the way to windows then blue screen you have one of 2 problems. 1: Driver conflict 2: Memory problem
  16. I would say your CPU can't handle Hi HTT and Hi MHZ at the same time. In other words mem controller is not able to handle it. Seems to be a problem with Venice's improved mem controller.
  17. What I am saying is that in gaming or benching is that an X2 OC'ed to 2.6 will score a little higher than a STOCK Fx-55 . Now I know most of us wouldn't run anything stock though :shake: . Jusy saying that clock for clock it performs just as well in gaming or 3d benching as a single core of the same speed but with the advantage of a second core for multi-tasking
  18. What raid drivers are you using? Get the ones from DFI.tw site and make a new floppy
  19. Yep If you do things like that at the same time you will see a difference in the snappyness and responsivness of the OS  . Believe me when I say that this X2 at 2.6 can Game and 3D bench the same as a Stock FX  . So if I were in your shoes the 4000+ is 475 I would instead get the X2 3800+ which is about $100 cheaper. Or go for the 4200+ with is about $55 more. I would definately choose between the X2's though. Plus IMHO you will be more future proofed as more and more apps take advantage of dual core . I don't think you will regret it. I know from experience that the difference from my Venice at 2.5 to this dual at 2.6 is miles apart for the things I do with my computer. My 3D benches went up a bit also
  20. Do you muli-task at all? Is this srictly a gaming rig? That will help me make a suggestion. So basically what do you do with your PC?
  21. I agree X2 3800+ would be an excellent choice
  22. You are very correct about being misunderstood . The same guy getting taking bites can play with or pet the same dog just seconds later. As long as he is nice to the doggie that is :shake: . In other words he is a very social dog. Unless A: I tell him not to be . B: You try to mess with him(i.e. mistreat him) C: you mess with me . D: You are the veternarian :shake: .
  23. Well my handle is because I like Belgian Malinois dogs. Specifically the KNPV (Dutch Royal Policedog Association) Belgian Malinois crosses. My other hobby is Schutzhund which of course I participate and compete in with a Mal!! A pic of my doggie attached
