  1. Lookie what I just found: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express#PCI_Express_2.0 :-O
  2. Why can I not find out the recommended overclocking RAM guide for this particular motherboard? I know for a fact that my RAM is listed in the x38 board and the P35 UT version of the board I just bought. Anyone enlighten me?
  3. I always update the BIOS to the latest if its not already. Ill first make sure the computer will boot to a desktop first then flash. Ive already placed the order and I had way more than enough to overnight it so it should be here monday or tuesday. Wednesday at the latest.
  4. Thanks for the help. Its much appreciated. I will now place the order for a P35 board. Now does the DFI board I will be ordering require a BIOS update to support them? This board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813136039
  5. Does the P35 boards support PCIe 2.0? I am interested in getting a P35 DFI LT board if this is the case. If not, I will be forced to get an x38 DFI board (which doesnt hurt my feelings but will hurt my wallet and patience as the only place that seems to sell it is motherboardpro.com and the shipping is ludicrous). Thanks in advance.
  6. Looks like after hours of looking and then finally posting it, a bit more looking finds me the answer. http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/259106...ion-thread.html
  7. I dont mean to hijack the thread, but what chipsets DO support the upcoming 45nm Yorkfield processors?
  8. I dont even get over 9500 with my quad core and GTS
  9. .. Just to get help on an issue takes 3 days for someone to respond. Of course I didnt.
  10. Yeah I know. I love that DFI LP board. Its like no other. I really want a DFI LP based P35 board. Thanks a lot though, that is really what I was concerened with. Getting the card and not having it work. Cheers!
  11. Yeah I wont be doing crossfire or anything. Not a big enough monitor to where I would need one.
  12. Im just trying to make 100% sure it will work before I get it, throw it in only to find out that it wont work. Will a 600 watt PSU suffice?
  13. So Im setting my dad up with a new video card. Thinking about the 3850 that was just released not to long ago. Its faster than an 8600GT for the same price but lacks VRAM compared to that of the 8600GT. Anyway, it was brought to my attention that some motherboards (PCI-e 1.1) dont like to cooperate with PCI-e 2.0 cards. How true is this? If it is true, how well do the older DFI boards (see layout below (bolded)) fare with PCIe 2.0 cards? The system that it will be in is as follows. AMD64 X2 3800+ or my old Opty 165 (overclocked as high as I can get it) DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D (latest BIOS) OCZ 2GB DDR400 PC3200 OCZ 600w PSU (will this be enough? I sure as hell hope so) HD 3850 GFX (or the 8600GT. Still havent made a 100% decision)
  14. Thanks guys for helping me out thus far. However, as my new build comes closer and closer, I am lookign into this board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813136035 However, according to this review from a buyer, it says that its not a watercooling board chipset wise "Not good for WC Reviewed By: Sarnath on 6/17/2007 Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Tech Level: average - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month Pros: More stable than my last 680i board. No problems with sound or USB. Haven't OC'd much, so can't say whether it's any good in that respect. BIOS options are nice, but some are a bit mysterious. Cons: Not a board for watercooling the chipset. The NB clips really limit the block you can use. The clips on the chipset cooler I tried could not overcome the pull of the tubes and the block would not stay flush against the chip. I'm back to the DFI sink. The SB is worse. The north hole is only suitable for pushpins. Capacitors (or whatever) are too close to the hole for screwing anything onto the SB. DFI's cooler is ok though. Other Thoughts: I have the water cooling blocks which I really wanted to use, but this board's chipset orientation makes them useless. Very disappointing. I would have liked to get rid of both of those 2 tiny fans. (I'm cooling the DFI NB heatsink with a 50mm fan. Temp on the NB still seems high to me though.)" I got looking over at Petra Tech Shop and noticed this chipset water block and wondered if it would work since its for the 680i and the board I listed above is of the same chipset. http://www.petrastechshop.com/dadenmachwan.html Thoughts?
  15. This is what I got going on in my RAID setup:
  16. Would just like to give an update on everything. Last night, i got around to installing the other hard drive and I set up the RAID array. I copied 8GB of music at 45.6MB/s which took around 2 minutes. Im going to install Sandra and compare the results of my non raid and my raid setup. Thanks again loggan for that guide.
  17. How about this one then? http://www.swiftech.com/products/stealth.asp
  18. Well either way, I would get the hold down plate compatible for the Opty and future quad cores.

  20. Here is what I am looking at now: http://order.store.yahoo.net/ymix/MetaCont...ionId=ysco.cart Since there a few items out of stock, I will link them directly: Chipset* - http://www.petrastechshop.com/dadenmachwad.html RAD - http://www.petrastechshop.com/swmcqposerab1.html GPU - Probably going to be the Danger Den 8800GTS WB from Frozen CPU or somewhere cheaper Coolant - not sure yet. Up for suggestions. *Would this work with my current board even though it is not an Expert board? Would the 8800GTS fit in between it? It just barely covers the HSF on the chipset now. Anything else that I am missing? Any other parts? Fittings? Anything? Thanks for your feedback thus far. It sure is appreciated. Do I still need ramsinks for the GPU?
  21. Ive seen a pic of the radiator on the outside of the TT Armor case and I think I can deal with that, but if it has 3 fans inside of it, I dont see how all three fans can suck out air from the inside of the case if all three fans dont have holes to suck the hot air out. (get what im saying? Sounds a bit confusing i know) What purpose does the radiator serve? Does it actually hook up into the watercooling? Or is it just 3x120mm fans? Dumb question, but is the radiator necessary? Wouldnt the provided case fans be enough if that were the case? (radiator not being needed)
