  1. Got the same results with the old chip as well. So I rma'd the board.
  2. Alinc the board is 2 years old. All the fans, the video card, all board and case lights come on when powered. Everything comes on but no video to monitor and no activity out of the hdd light. After putting the 965 in and the comp doing this I put the 9850 back in and did multiple CMOS resets and still the same thing.
  3. Yes typo! On my iPhone at work trying to get some advice before ordering a new board.
  4. Yes reset the CMOS and pulled the battery for an hour on two times and still the same results.
  5. Actually I upgraded my CPU from a phenom 9850 to a phenom II 965. I updated the bios and restarted before switching CPUs and everything was good. I then swapped out the CPU and restarted. I got no beeps, my hdd activity light did nothing, and no video. So I pulled the cooler to put the 9850 back in and noticed a little arctic silver on the board. I cleaned it off, put back in the 9850 and fired it up again and the same thing. Don't know other than maybe the thermal compound might have ruined the mobo. By the way it is the comp in my sig.
  6. I got some thermal compound on the mobo and fired it up. Now I get nothing on the monitor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Think I found the problem. When changing the cpus I got a little bit of arctic silver on the board. I didn't see it before I fired it up so I think I fried my board right.
  8. Will do and thanks Boinker for replying.
  9. Boinker I have this board, http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=KC8yHOfBMCe9SlrP, so it does support the 965.
  10. My question deals with the rig in my sig. I bought the Phenom II 965 to replace the 9850 in the comp. Tonight I flashed and updated to the newest bios. I rebooted to make sure it took and all went well. I then replaced the 9850 with the 965 and now I get nothing. Computer powers up but nothing comes up on monitor. I tried clearing the cmos and nothing. Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with phase change as a cooling option for the cpu? Thinking about making the plunge for winter wars this year.
  12. Ever think about the AuzenTech XFi Prelude 7.1. AuzenTech makes great sound cards.
  13. Just bought an Onkyo 906 reciever paired with Polk Audio RM6750 5.1 speaker package and a set of Polk audio Tsi500 4 way floor speakers. Man this thing sounds awesome especially hooked up to my 50in. Plasma.
  14. Just curious as to how the 955 is performing?
  15. Hey taco why don't u let us in on the secret: Meaning I have a 9850 with a 790fx board and can't get mine past 3.2 no matter what I have tried so again let me in on how to get it to 4ghz.
  16. Thanks road-runner. A little bummed at my results thought I would have a better score than that. My super pi score must really be holding me back on points.

  18. Okay here is what I gather is that by having the nb speed set to auto it reverts to factory default multi which is 10x I think. But the only options for the Ht link speed is auto, 200mhz, 400mhz, and 600mhz. Do you think by changing the nb multi it will give me more options for the ht link speeds because I don't have a clue which one to pick(200,400,600).
  19. Nuclear I have a question for you. And it is not about the phenom II's but my 9850. I said I could get it to 3.2 stable but to be exact I can get it to 3.187 using xp pro instead of vista. My question is once I get it up that high why does my ht link speed show 1020? Here's an example.
  20. Okay since I am wrong tell me why noone seems to be able to hit the 4ghz mark with the new phenom II's. My math isn't great but that would give you a 1ghz overclock and it seems that most are only able to go from 3 to somewhere around 3.7 stable. So let's see I can go from 2.5 to 3.21 stable on my Phenom 9850 so show me where I am wrong. So I say again my math isn't great but they both seem to be able to give you a .775 overclock stable. Things that make ya go hmmmmmmm.
  21. It seems that all the phenoms and phenoms II's seem to only be able to give you and overclock of about .775 unless you use extreme cooling. I have a 9850 and that is all I could squeeze out of mine and let me add that it overclocks a little better using xp than it does using vista. Just food for thought.
  22. A friend is having issues getting his ps3 connected to his router. First off he has a Linksys g router and ofcourse a ps3. My question is that when he goes into network setup on the ps3 menu and tries to configure his wireless settings it recognizes his router and connection and everything associated with it but he cannot get the ps3 connected. We tried to manually configure the ps3 by putting in the ip adress the default gateway the default dhcp and primary and secondary dns ips and still nothing. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?
  23. Smith now u need to some how verify all ccokeman's 0's and get them submitted to the official scoring page.
  24. I don't think there is Smith you had to add him to the official scoring thread with his scores reflecting zeroes in order for him to be counted as part of the occ team!
  25. I do believe we have lost him because he had to be entered to the official scoring thread showing 0's across the board. He has to be entered with 0's to be eligable he doesn't even show up on our roster!
