  1. while these modules might or might not have "early death" syndrome, because of Crucial really dropping the ball bad with TOO MANY previous customers:

    http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...ucial+ballistix

I cannot and will not recommend Crucial Ballistix.

If they had just fixed the problem or refunded everyone's money without all the runaround and hassling, I wouldn't have a problem recommending them.

But since they treated a very large number of customers as per that thread (not just DFI customers either), I'm afraid I couldn't trust purchasing anything with their name brand.

Just a warning...read that thread if you still think you want some.

After reading many, but not all pages (over 1000 posts) in that thread, have you asked your 'friend' at Crucial if the new TD1's are in fact, THE SOLUTION? If not, I would have to not recommend this special at NewEgg for the everyday user here at DFI.

    Thanks,

    Dylan

Yes HG, that thread was why I felt OK posting this deal, as it looks like the TD1 chips are OK. The last few posts in that ref'd thread showed that things are good now. I'm not a pro though. so I bought a pair of these and they will get here next week. I will test them out, but of course, as far a longevity is concerned only time will tell.

(I have no stock or corporate interest in Crucial Ballistic, but that is a cool name, no?)

  3. lolz still gotta get into consideration that singapore is a day ahead. RIght? and wat abt the CDT? Quite cant really get the daylight saving thingie. it 2 hrs slower right?

The only thing you will convert is Wevsspots GMT time. Don't worry about CDT PST or whatever, you will take the GMT and work from there.

  5. was about to purchase the BF2 + SF but someone told me BF2 allow 2 player on da same server with the same key.. is it true? if true, can i get hold of sole right to the series key or i'll never know?

PS: can someone teach me abt CST? i know CST is 6 hours behind of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and that all. Universal time is america timing or GMT? Singapore is GMT - 8hrs. Sorry for my noob qns, its a small country here, we have 0 time differ.

Wow, it's kind of hard to explain, as you are across the date line too, but 'dates' aside, this is how it works.

Wevsspot will post times coordinated to CDT and GMT/UTC (GMT and UTC are the same, GMT means Greenwich Mean Time and is in England).

You are not -8hrs, as far as I know, you are PLUS 8 hours of the next date as far as GMT is concerned. I am minus 8 hours on the same date because we haven't crossed the international date line. In the following example I'll try and make it as simple as possible (considering it took me a long time to figure it out):

Wevsspot says, let's play at 7PM CDT Wednesday, and he will post: 7PM CDT (1900 hours) (converting to military time, 1200 noon plus 7 hours) and 0100GMT/UTC Thursday (he or whoever wants to game will post BOTH local and GMT time. For you, after converting, would be 0900 hours/9AM in Singapore the next day, Friday. Take a look at this link, and you will get the idea. Remember, first convert to military time, like 0800 hours or 3PM like 1200 plus 3 = 1500 hours. Then, add or subtract depending where you are on the planet.

Look at this link for help. http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/gmt-converter.htm

and others, just search for gmt conversion.

  6. The clan tag for dfi on patrol is [DFI] so switch today. any help setting prefix up, just ask.

Also as wevsspot has already mentioned we have been allowed to use the dfi name, and it would be bad for the clan to be known for cheating, laming, and otherwise causing offence. SO lets keep it clean out there guys and wear the [DFI] tag with pride.

We still get to pillage their women and rape their cattle, no?

  7. I work for Rogers Wireless up here in Canaduh...

Currently beta testing the new consumer High Speed service to roll out in Q1 next year. It's rated to 18/4 MBps, but won't reach it's true max until infrastructure and network changes take effect in December. This service will cost a whopping $99/month... !

Current real world speedtesting to a local server (speedtest.magma.ca) gives mid to high 8000s KBps.

Rogers is kicking off the service by including the new Motorola Surfboard 5120 and all on-plant installs will include upgraded/dedicated cabling and a signal booster at the demark.

Expect to see the other consumer services increase in speed as well, as a result of the new system upgrades.

Extreme was 6 MBps, now 8 MBps

Express was 5 MBps, now 7 MBps

Prices should remain the same with promotional offers until at least Q3.

The big coup will be Static IP Business Internet for $90/month, which will include 5 static IPs, 10/2 MBps service. Installation is $150, but our techs test the network speed, install new cabling and boosters, and guarantee "10/1" ..... within 10% of rated speeds at all times with less than 1% downtime.

    It's good to be Canadian!

Except for 3rd world countries, America is the worst when it comes to broadband deployment to its citizens. To think that we led the world in having phones to almost 98 percent of the population to only 42% of broadband to the population.

I get 1Mb down, 128Kb up at a whopping $50 a month, and no upgrade in sight, I even tried to upgrade to Business Class with Frontier DSL here in California, but they don't even have that at my locale. I'm in the sticks in a fairly new developement that does have its own remote switch. I'm going to try wireless access, but I'm afaid that my latency will suck do to the broadcast method of how bandwidth is spread around. Let's all move to Canada.

  9. Alright, I've edited the foul language rule. See if the re-write sounds more suitable to everyone.

I'm back in as an American that served 20 years protecting the freedoms and rights of all americans, including myself...

'faheyd' is my xfire login, I show up as [ZEBRA]Rake, faheyd will get you on my XFIRE friends list. Invite me back to the group again.

  10. Clan members list updated as of 10/15/2006 16:36 CST. And I'm going to start a rules list too, especially since we will be using the DFI tag in our name with special permission from HG.

    1. In game cheating will not be tolerated. Violaters will be banned permanently.

    2. Intentional team killing will not be tolerated. Violaters will be banned permanently.

    3. If you choose to use a DFI tag for your player name you will be expected to uphold the highest standards of fairness, integrity and team spirit. Remember, HG was kind enough to let us use the DFI tag so we will represent him, this forum and our fellow forum and clan members in a manner that reflects well on DFI-Street and each of us as individuals.

    4. Foul language should be kept to a minimum, keeping in mind that some players may be ours or someone else's children. The F-word and GD-word used during game play will earn you a warning on the first offense. Second offense will earn you a three day ban from the clan. Third offense a thirty day ban from the clan. If you haven't learned by then, you are hopeless and will be permantly removed from the clan list.

I'm am open to further rules if needed let me know. Otherwise respond in the affirmative that each of the clan members on page one have read and understand these simple rules.

    Thanks.

I'm sorry, but I won't be playing, as I god damn can't stop cursing, and if the players I'm with are not adult enough to handle that, well, I'm out. Sorry.

    ANd yes, I'm serious.

(EDIT NV, I foudn the way to leave) Can you remove me from the XFire group for dfi, as I don't know how to do it. Thanks. No hard feelings, I just like to play with grown ups.

(note to self, this is funny, because we're playing a game where you KILL, Blowup, shoot down people, but cursing is frowned upon. ironic)

  11. DFI_ST is fine with me. Lets go ahead and get the poll going so we can rock and roll.

DFI_ST is fine with me. Let's try and get some people together before even talking about a server. ., we haven't even played a game together yet.

    LIMIT 100 PER ORDER

    AMD 4800 X2 939 OEM (no fan) $250 Free Ship newegg.com

OK, I looked at my upgrade costs for the E6600 system:

    E6600 CPU 323.00

    Antec NEO HE550 psu 110.00

    Thermalright SI-120 cpu cooler 50.00

    Thermalright HR-05 chipset cooler 20.00

    2GB DDR2 800Mhz 230.00

    DFI Infinity 975X/G 194.09

    Total: 927.09

And I just don't have that kinda cash around right now. So I went with upgrading my 4400 to the 4800. I had another few other reasons, I had orinally bought a 4400X2 with a weak core on it (when I started O/Cing after joining DFI-streets) and the weak core stopped O/Cing quite a bit (perfectly fine at stock setting), along with my G.Skill ain't that great either. I will be turning in the G.Skill for a warranty replacement as they don't even do 'stock' speeds.

So, this will carry me over for another year, and I'll shop around for good prices my list above. I think the 4800 will O/C to 2.8 or better, and should make me even happier than with my 4400 (I have no complaints really, runs BF2 and everything else I do with it).

This way I will save up some cash along the way (and still be happy). I will be ebaying the 4400 to recoup some cost (over 600 bucks for that bad boy when new).

Anyways, I wanted to post this deal for ya, as it doesn't show up on the front page of new egg unless you search for processors. Remember, no fan included, 939. The AM2 OEM verison is also on sale for same price.

OK, just installed the 4800, stock 2411Mhz, was able to O/C to 2605Mhz. A bit more than my 4400 that was stock 2200, o/c'd to 2359Mhz because I had a weak core in it.

Now, next on the list is getting my G.skill RMA'd as it has never been able to get past stock timings of 235Mhz instead of SPD value of 250Mhz. Many have gotten alot more than 250Mhz. Hopefully, I'm going to RMA the memory before Nov 22, and get it back by the 10th Of Dec, as I'll be on vacation. It would be nice to get 260Mhz and go 1to1 on the memory settings and change my cpu clock/multi to 260x10. Such is life. All you guys that are getting 2.8/2.9/3.0Mhz, consider yourselves lucky that you got the steppings and memory to do that. I'll take the E6600 adventure next year, can't afford it this year.:)

  15. duhhhh I changed it and forgot - lol, try Evil-Fruits|R4zb3rry instead ;)

Evil-Fruits|R4zb3rry Does not work either? You sure you're a playa???

How about this one? : evilrazclairtsberry .

For others, my XFire nick is [ZEBRA]Rake . Thanks. Do we even need a server to begin with, we can always just meet up on a server to begin with, and work from there. That way we can find out who is serious and who's just 'there'.

EDIT AGAIN: Apparently, when you search [ZEBRA]Rake, it will come up empty. So, as edited on front page, try for 'Rake'.

2ND EDIT: that 'Rake' is NOT me. Try for 'faheyd'

  16. Hi,

I downloaded and installed the latest version of Kubuntu on my laptop. Everything went fine (codecs, sound, dvd, updates etc.).

I tried to install the ATI diver for my card (Radeon 9000 mobility) following this guide: http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Da...tallation_Guide

    Bad idea

After reboot I can not enter Kubuntu anymore; it will stop before I can enter my password. Any ideas how to solve this problem without a new install?

    Thanks for your help!

    Gipse

Does kubuntu do the software installer?

Load up Synaptic above, edit your repositories and search for ATI.
