  1. You can adjust the temp. that kicks the fan on in BIOS.
  2. The power plug you linked to is the 20 + 4 cable. The small 4 pin cable connects alongside the 20 pin cable to form a 24 pin connection, However, you still need the 8 pin connector that connects right behind the 24 pin main power connection. You shouldn't be using the 20 pin cable alone & the 4 pin attached cable in the black 8 pin connection. Since you are running very few devices you might get by w/ the adapter (4 pin to 8 pin), however this could lead to instability issues. You are also using a Maxtor HDD. There are some issues w/ those. Search the forum for work-arounds.
  3. Hmmm.... http://www.extremeoverclocking.com/reviews...peR_480W_3.html I can't see it.
  4. Doesn't your PSU lack the 8 pin power connector?
  5. There are 3 power connections on the Expert. And your post does sound like you are connecting while power is applied. I hope that isn't the case.
  6. Thanks. I believe it will be added to my new case. Lots of strong points. Maintenance-free is a plus.
  7. You are running an awful lot of hardware on your PSU. Can you switch it out w/ another one?
  8. If you can get to BIOS you can get to memtest.
  9. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811112040 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811119077 I've used the black Coolermaster 3 times for friends & they have been very satisfied.
  10. This isn't necessarily true. I've used Corsair in these boards. I only had a problem w/ some Value RAM when OCing it. What are the other components in the problem rig?
  11. Has anyone used this? It looks intriguing & might be my next choice. http://www.frozencpu.com/ex-wat-90.html?id=ZHyvB3MB http://www.extrememhz.com/freezone-p1.shtml
  12. Check posters' signatures. You can see what people are using & judge from there.
  13. I'm not sure this is true. I know of one rig that is running quite well w/ 2x 512 Corsair Value memory. No OC but stable as hell. It seems to be a pretty hit or miss issue. I think the troubles start when the OCing starts.
  14. I'm not convinced the other HSFs will outperform the Zalman. If the Zalman is able to exhaust directly into the rear case fans it will outperform the others.
  15. Have you memtested the memory? Do you have another PSU you can try?
  16. What he said. My boxer now looks like a pug however.
  17. The Hiper lacks the 8 pin power connector. I used it w/ an 4 pin to 8 pin adapter for awhile w/ no problems. However I've since moved it out in favor of the PSU in my sig to avoid possible problems down the road. The Hiper is presently in another rig & working quite well. I'd suggest using a PSU w/ a native 8 pin power connector just to be safe.
  18. Count me in on the Zalman. But it relies alot on your rear case fan. If you can position it so it exhausts into the case fan it's hard to beat. It also sweeps the memory area on the Expert board.
  19. Which HDD is the OS on? There are "issues" w/ Maxtor HDDs.
