  1. Hi all.

I am on the hunt again. I picked up a motherboard for a family computer upgrade and reviews and thing I have been reading ATI is the preferred graphics for this setup.

I'm looking for something in the vicinity of a RX 470 4Gb.

Shoot me a pm if you have something similar in performance sitting around.

    Thanks

    Stephen

  2. Over the last week or 2 my rig has been acting up. I will power it on and within a couple of minutes the fans will spin up pretty high and temps start rising, pull up AIDA64 or task manager and the i7 is at 100%

I restart and it will repeat it sometimes or it will be back to normal.

    System specs.

    Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H

    i7 4770K

    2x8 gigs G Skill Trident X F3-2400C10

    GTX690

    Samsung's 950 pro M.2 SSD 256GB.

    Corsair RM850watt

    Coolermaster Nepton 240M

    WIN.10 64bit.

Motherboard issue or Operating system. ??

  3.

Cant recommend the Dell U2715H enough :)

Only just got it, but its amazing!

2560x1440 res, IPS panel. Ultra thin bezel and plenty of hookups.

On a topic tangent, my next purchase is hopefully a M.2 Samsung 950 Pro. How are they? Worth the cash over regular SSD? (Got 2x regular 256GB SSD atm)

I haven't used them yet to know for sure but I imagine not, especially since you already have two in SATA (RAIDed I'm assuming). Benchmarks may tell otherwise but I haven't really seen any huge difference between the many different SSDs I've used. It's like memory, focus on capacity because the "speed" differences are likely to be negligible in actual usage.

The i7 build is in a stack of boxes on my desk. my graphics card arrive yesterday and it is now on my desk. I'm working out of town and the build is waiting patiently

I'm anxious to see how the performance is on the M.2 Samsung 950 Pro. Guess I'll find out if the $ was worth it.

On the monitor subject I've  come across good reviews on the AOC's & crossovers main issue would be warranty support and I'm seeing a lot of complaints about the weak/flimsy stands. They seem to be good performer and good price but I can't stand flimsy shaky stands.

All of the suggestions are helping there causing me to read more and become more informed.

  4. I recently built my twins there first gaming computers and I divied up my 2 Samsung monitors between them. So now I'm wondering through the maze of monitors, UGH! It used be be pretty simple. We just looked at response time and hookups. It's a complicate world now. with 4k, 2k,  Gsync,  WQHD, and on and on.
    I'm running a i7 with a GTX690 16gigs of mem. and a Samsung 950 pro M.2 SSD
I don't game like I used to but I still like to have upper tier hardware. looking for 27" or so monitor with plenty of options and a view that will turn heads.
Price is always a concern, I buy many of my components from the FS forums to save money. Would like to stay around $400.00 plus or minus a bit. It does not have to be brand new.
    Any suggestions?

  5. What are you offering for these? Might be worth poking around some local pawn shops.

Never know what you might find in a pawn shop or estate sale even the little mom & pop used stuff stores. If you find something that looks interesting, look on the back for the model number

they look like 1234-5678  or  ABCD123 and shoot me a pm.
