    Dfi Nf4 Help Needed

No, C n Q is NOT enabled in the Bios. Everything is set to deafault except the Sil Image controller and Marvell LAN (Both disabled) Mouse and keyboard are PS2. Still freezes up. Nothing in Event Viewer. Gonna send him a new mouse and keyboard. I'm thinking it has to be one of the programs he has loaded. Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!
  5. I gave my old Opty 165, DFI NF4 rig to my brother-in-law. He leaves it on all the time and it has been freezing up (mouse and keyboard) after 8+ hours. Keyboard and mouse just seem to freeze up and he needs to use the reset button to reboot the PC. It never locks up when he is using it. never reboots or has any other issues. Passed prime for 24 hours when I originally put it together (before he loaded programs including AOL) Windows XP SP3 Runs MemTest for 5 hours+ with both 2 x 512MB Corsair RAM (2-2-2-5) or 2x1024MB GSkill (3-4-4-8) Passes Prime 95 256d for 5 hours at 270 x 9. Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 lapped, OCZ GameXtreme 700, XFX 7800GT, Antec 900 Case. I think I have stopped everything I didn't want to start with Autoruns. Used CCleaner and JV16 to clean files and registry Temps are fine, voltages are low. I am almost positive it is a program he has added (and he loves to try new stuff) I don't want to do a re-install and neither does he (I have done a windows Repair) Can anyone help a brother out with this? Any ideas what could be happening?

    Dfi Nf4 Help Needed

hmm, this is worth checking out - they were PS2, and about 4-5 years old He may have upgraded, I'll need to check. I had him load optimized defaults when we switched RAM, so I doubt that CnQ is enabled. Event viewer is worth a check as well. I'll get back to you experts after I talk with him. Thanks for the input dudesters

    Dfi Nf4 Help Needed

It would be great if I was in the same city as the PC but alas and alack, I am not. So I (kinda - sorta) need to tell him what to do or check and then report back to me. Of course he could just turn it off when he is finished using it and then boot up (takes like a minute) when he wants to use it but then he wouldn't be able to bust my ballz No wierd processes and spyware/malware free. Maybe I can guide him through the event viewer. Thanks for the help Your Nateness. Anyone else got an idea?

  12. Adding a small LCD to your rig. Had a bunch of questions regarding the LCD Video Screens in my rigs. It’s a very easy mod so I’ll try and guide you through the basics of it. Required : Video card with simultaneous Dual Monitor Output capability - It’s usually S-Video! (I think that started with the GF4200 series for NVidia. – check with Card manufacturer to be sure.) LCD Video Display with at least one Video Input. I use “headrest” LCD monitors from the car stereo industry. 4”, 5”, and 5.6” can usually fit in a 5.25” bay but you’ll need to give up two to three bays if you front mount them. They are generally less than 1” deep. Or you can place them internally so they are viewable through a window. There are big differences in quality and resolution among the screens. Generally, the better the off axis picture the higher the cost.. You may be able to find something on eBay or at your local Mobile Video Specialist. Prices can vary from $50 to $400. Some units are equipped with multiple Video Inputs, remote control, OSD, and even built in speakers. Multiple inputs are great for adding a small camera or second video source. Many units come with their own “input connection box”. This can be an advantage or a hinderence due to extra cable length (of course it can be cut, shortened and soldered. S-video to RCA adaptor. This converts the S-Video to the standard RCA style inputs. You’ll lose stability and often get Black and white picture only if you try and modify the S-Video connector. It does use a resistor/capacitor network to combine chrominance and luminance. S-Video to RCA information http://www.pccables.com/70714.htm Here’s a generic video on how to set up the card for dual monitors http://www.svideo.com/displayvideo.htm RCA Cord to connect the S-video Adaptor to the monitor (12 to 18 inches long) Some type of Molex connector to power the unit from your existing PSU or an external 12v PSU (wall type). Some overclockers don’t like the drain on PSU but the LCDs don’t require much wattage. Solder, tape, heat shrink tubing or whatever to finish electrical connections. Mounting Hardware du jour (screws, nuts, bolts, brackets) to Mount the LCD screen securely. Some folks will want to fabricate their own metal brackets and drill holes. Depending on screen and placement I highly recommend the use of 3M double sided Exterior tape #4010 and #4011. Super strong and used for mounting mirrors and such. You can also pull the LCD off if necessary or if the location doesn’t seem proper. (Makes sense not to block off the CMOS jumper or screw up airflow within the case obviously.) Even if used only temporarily. It’s nice to have the tape at hand. Screen – Shroud – Remote Control – Power Connector and Filter - Video Input box - Monitor Cable (this is NOT an S-Video style plug) Out Of Box Dual Inputs Dual Outputs This is the Fahrenheit T-6502HRS. We sell them for $299.99. Those are 7” screens above it in their custom headrest. You may be able to get a 8” or 9” as well. The actual “viewing area” of the screen goes up pretty dramatically as screen size increases. Remember the screens are measured diagonally. Like I said, easy as Hale. Bit-tech has some excellent info if you want to dive into modding an existing LCD. Let me know if you have questions. Be more than happy to answer any specifics. EDIT: Since all my case have "side windows" I always am looking for a good scratch remover/cleaner". I've been using Meguiar's #7 - Professional Show Car Glaze' and have been very impressed with the results. Make sure you pick up a case of elbow grease as well.

  14. So I bought an Antec 900 to drown my sorrows. Can't afford a new rig, I needed something to pick me up. Most of you are are familiar with the Antec 900. I'm not a gamer but I heard this case talking to me in my sleep. "Buy Me, Buy Me" Lots of fans It's supplied with 3 x120mm and one 200mm (top exhaust), all are 3 speed (L-M-H) Blue LED tons of airflow, (from the owner's manual so may be fudged a bit) 200mm Fan Specs High (800 RPM) - 134cfm @ 30dBA Med (600 RPM) - 108cfm @ 27dBA Low (400 RPM) - 83cfm @ 24dBA 120mm Fan Specs High (2000 RPM) - 79cfm @ 30dBA Med (1600 RPM) - 56cfm @ 28dBA Low (1200 RPM) - 39cfm @ 25dBA Unconventional looks (cause it's got that bigaz 200mm fan in the top) I liked dual 120mm intakes and had worked it into my last three cases with great results. Just thought it was kewl (links to rig mods below sig) The Antec 900 can be found on line from $79.99 to $149.95 Figure $100 plus maybe a few will be what it sets you back. So is it a Great Case, Good Case, OK Case, or Crap Case? It may be a little of each. The 900 has been praised for it's great cooling capabilities and value. You either love or hate the exterior looks. Course the other side says it's a piece of crap that is loud, a dust trap, overpriced and quite possibly, the greatest known threat to mankind. Time to see what we got here. Yes, you can take the Top section off (BUT YOU MAY BREAK A CLIP!) To remove the top panel: 2 screws on the underside of top need to be removed to realease the 200mm fan. Push the rear and side clips to the outside to release. The front clips are 1.25” to 1.5” from the front panel. You need to push forward from the rear. (You can’t actually see them) Take a long flat blade screwdriver and press the tabs gently towards the front. (This is where I broke one of the clips) Superglue to repair the tabs or double sided tape to secure it if necessary. The case is bare metal on the inside and it really seemed to give it a "unfinished paint job" look. Just not very impressive. I decided to paint everything flat black. On to the Priming. Me, I like screw holes The screwless designs never seem to keep everything "tight". The Drive tower is just two strips of steel. (nothing to see here, move along) Prime that biatch The Antec 3-1 removable HDD enclosures didn't really impress me. They do the job but I was lookin' for sumthin a little slicker Been wanting to try these Scythe HDD Stabilizer 2 deals for awhile. They were on sale for $7.99 set at Frozen CPU http://www.frozencpu.com/products/3041/noi..._Reduction.html Just seemed like a good solution. The Fan/Drive cage assemblies did the job, but seemed bulky. Close up of rubber bumper mounted on HDD.

  16. Norm McDonald "I've never seen so many dead hookers in my life" Creepy Looking dude in crowd "Lord knows I have" Dirty Work - starring Norm McDonald and Artie Lange 500 photos and three cameras later I am convinced there is no way I can get a decent picture of the CCFLs lit up and pulsing. If any of the sections is NOT lit, the camera seems to spread light from the lit sections over the unlit section. Looks awesome in person, just can't seem to get a decent picture of the RadoBase in action. And the pictures here really do a lousy job of showing off rado's handiwork. I think we went a tad overboard with the CCFLs in the front and rear of the base. When I initially hooked up the bases I blew a hole in the living room wall and opened up some sort of trans-dimensional vortex. I'm still finishing the SR-2 paint job. Sorry this is taking so long to complete but I've been on the road quite a bit lately and when I get home there are a couple of bars and strip clubs that need my support in these tough economic times. (soundx98 - helping unwed mothers, one lap dance at a time) I took these shots with the front CCFLs disconnected. Each section monitors different voltages/temperatures through the Matrix Orbital and Everest and it is "oh so frikken' kewl" when each section starts flashing, pulsing, strobing, etc. You can see the Matrix Orbital display scrolling the Everest info in different pictures. Doctor Evil unpacking RadoBases at work VVV Lookin' to build a special desk that can properly show off the twin towers And I still want to mess with the lighting a bit. Both rigs are running at 4.25 GHz (500x8.5) Just picked up a DFI LP UT P35 mobo so now I have all i need for a 3rd rig except the processor. I think I'll try an E8500 this go around. P.S. The pictures were taken during the day so you can imagine what the look like at night. BRIGHT!

A Priest and a Rabbi A priest and a rabbi were sitting next to each other on an airplane. After a while, the priest turned to the rabbi and asked, 'Is it still a requirement of your faith that you not eat pork?' The rabbi responded, 'Yes, that is still one of our laws.' The priest then asked, 'Have you ever eaten pork?' To which the rab bi replied, 'Yes, on one occasion I did succumb to temptation And tasted a ham sandwich.' The priest nodded in understanding and went on with his reading. A while later, the rabbi spoke up and asked the priest, 'Father, is it still a Requirement of your church that you remain celibate?' The priest replied, 'Yes, that is still very much a part of our faith.' The rabbi then asked him, 'Father, have you ever fallen to the temptations of the flesh?' The priest replied, 'Yes, rabbi, on one occasion I was weak and broke with my Faith.' The rabbi nodded understandingly and remained silent, thinking, for about five Minutes. Finally, the rabbi said, 'Beats the . out of a ham sandwich, doesn't it?
