first thanks to all of you. actually i missed sonata III w/500W deal. I don't know when it will come out again. so i ordered 4480. poor me.
-
anyway, thank you for your comment. I am happy to be one member here, though i don't do oc.

actually, one of my friend, who told me, ecs mobo is not bad if i do not do oc, it might lost at most 10% performance. and I did some calculation. e6550 w/ecs will run like 2.0G but still 4Mb L2, 1333FSB, which should be better than e2140 w/giga p35. this is why i decide to go for that combo. I am not sure this is right. and i can not get a nice review for it. thanks

e6550 w/ecs 945gct/1333 combo 150$ frys corsair ddr2 800 pc6400 2x1gb 4-4-4-12 30$(50$MIR) frys xfx geforece 8600gt 80$(30$MIR) newegg seagate 7200 sata/3 320gb 65$ frys samsung 20x dvd 202 25$ newegg antec nsk4480 w/380W 30$(30$MIR) zipzoomfly keyboard, mouse, 20$ newegg viewsonic vx2240w 240$(20$MIR) zipzoomfly total price 640$ total tax 60$(too expansive here) total shipping 26$ final price 726$ system free, opensuse or ubuntu my original budget is 600$, but finally go above 700$. So i might return 8600 VC, and use onboard vc temporally. Do you think 8600 price might drop a lot in half year? also i might return e6550 combo, go newegg get some better motherboard with cheaper cpu. how do u guys think of it? any comments? the same question like other builds, can my build beat dell system? thanks

i would get a cheaper case, and go for a better MB.
-
personally, I like ubuntu and opensuse.

actually i am looking for budget LCD too. And I considered this two LCDs, but my friend suggest me not go for Acer ones. It looks like x221 is better than al2216, i am not sure.

joeferral replied to joeferral's topic in Processors, Motherboards and Memory
Thank you, everybody, especially cchalogamer, who give me detail comments on those MBs. I will wait one or two weeks for some open box ABIT IP35-E or GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L under 70$. If not, I will go for msi p6n 650i. by the way, may i ask what is the difference of P35 and P31 board. Should I also consider P31 board? thanks -
limited by my budget, I can only get one under 70$. CPU is E4500 or E2200. VC is geforece 8600gt I don't do OC. thanks:)

i use senn for long time, 580, 600, 650, finally, i keep my 580 for more than 6 years. I think right now, you can very easliy get a nice condition 580 around 100$, or even new one. I bought it brand new only something around 150$, and that was 6 years ago. As I know, all other 5 series headphone is not good as 580. I keep 580 just because the performance/price ratio can not beat by 600 or 650. Another one I would recommend, which is AKG 501. I like it very much, just like 580. i sold mine when i got 580. you should go http://www.head-fi.org/, there is a lot of useful information. good luck.

I am thinking DIY a desktop myself. here the components: Intel core 2 dual e4500 w/ ECS 945 motherboard 120$ (ECS mb might sell for 10-20 bucks in ebay, no idea right now) Msi P35 neo motherboard 60$ Xfx geforce 8600gt 256mb 128 bit xxx video card 80$ Seagate 320gb sata/300 16mb cache 65$ Corsair DDR2 pc 6400 800 2gb 30$ Samsung 20x DVD burner 25$ Logitech keyboard 8$ Microsoft mouse 10$ Antec NSK4480B case w/ 380W 30$ Viewsonic VA2016w 22" wide LCD 180$ total, 608$ before tax. I just wonder can I beat any Dell E4500 desktop deal. Please give me your suggestion. thanks
