  1. i was looking at that corsair... looks nice, im torn between it and the FSP. the two gamextreme psus however i wish had 1 12v rail... if they did they would be at the top of my list ...
  2. the middle cap with the arrow has actually ruptured (brown stuff on top) and the other two are buldging. the cap in the foreground is not yet showing symptoms though. i was suprised to see Fuhjyyu caps in there, but thats what shes got. the psu hasnt gotten hot, never ran more than slightly warm. but its also got some age on it so i say its done me and its previous owner good. i was looking at the PCP&C 610w unit, but having only an 80mm fan it looks like it would be loud. i would love to go OCZ again, but they are not single rail ... reading deeper into PSU's... i think im just gonna save and get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817104026 but for now, anyone got a reputable site i can order caps from? i think im gonna try and replace them, ive done it for motherboards, cant be much different.
  3. lol, yeah he has a way of breaking things down so us non-physicists folks can understand what he is saying though, it sets himself apart from the rest of the physicist crowd
  4. this is actually one of the things that intrest me... i love sci-fi (the halo books were great BTW). but if you want to know how things related to this work and could become realit, google Michio Kaku. hes a brain...
  5. Yeah, its been a while... lol but just wanted to get some thoughts on this. I have a 450w OCZ Modstream that was a gift from a friend here, and it has been exceptional. however, and its a funny story, but its got failing caps... ran occt to get various graphs: vcore: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...09h49-VCore.png 12v: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...9h49-Volt12.png 3.3v: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...09h49-Volt3.png 5v: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...09h49-Volt5.png I had zero symptoms to make me suspect they were failing (though i knew they were Fuhjyyu's). a friend had psu issues so i popped my psu open to take some pix to show him how they should look, and look what i got! i backed down all my clocks back to stock... just so maybe it will hold for now. my question though is, should i try replacing the caps, or should i go and buy this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817139004 its got good reviews from all the sites ive hit, and points out that it has "High quality japanese caps"...
  6. yeah, my audigy 2 can record "what you hear"... i use it to record DIFM some times.
  7. I KNEW IT! that was a twisted movie... whos gramps does crack?
  8. so, in simple terms, what does this mean for people like myself who are joining the service (navy for me)?
  9. well, i got some more pics fo yall! blue glowstick cross: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_2039.jpg sunset on the way home from albany, ga: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_2010.jpg sunset at the lake: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_1520.jpg flower: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_1973.jpg now these are awesome, i made myself a special lens of sorts that basically turns my camera into a microscope... here are some pics i shot so far: a digital camera image sensor, if you look at full size (click image) you can see the individual pixel cells: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_2241.jpg and here is a macro of the image sensor to show the whole thing: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_2243.jpg here is a eeprom chip die: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_2226.jpg and finally, here is a dieshot of a old 486SX, and a little easter egg i found! http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_2214.jpg some of those are blurry, but at that magnification its impossible to keep the camera still... i would prop my hands up and the pulse running through the veins in my fingers was making the dang camera shake... not to mention a camera like mine wasnt intended to be used like this :.
  10. sorry to bring this back from the dead, but i just saw angrys post on the first page and had to post... angry is right, hell, i have made the same mistakes over that angry socked me for 2 years ago:tooth: (not the serious ones mind you angry ). anyways, im gonna save some thead space and not repeat what others have said. but they are all right. a bit of advice though, if you know people who are elderly, talk to them. they have more life experience than anyone else on the planet, and if you have grandparents, they can almost predect the future! me and this girl dated for about 8months, but had been friends for a while, funny thing is, good ole gramps said "you dont need to get too thick with her". he had met her once before he said that, and 8mos later, like you, for no reason we split. a week later coming home from ROTC camp she forked a guy in the seat behind me on the back of the bus out of spite. shoot man, you are probably eyeballing another chick by now
  11. here are some shots i made... the moon: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_1229.jpg reflection in an eye: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_0671.jpg l0l: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_0741.jpg school food: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_1157.jpg ice breakers valentines edition: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/cha...nt=IMG_1237.jpg
  12. yeah, we have dollar tree... i use whatever is cheap, though i rarely burn anything, i mostly just dump everything to my storage drive...
  13. the world is going down... michio kaku was right, we wont survive the transition...
  14. well, i took the nuke test, which was 98% math, and i didnt make it... not by a long shot. i am so bad at math i cant mutiplydivide without a calc . oh well, i still have I.T. i am really good at science, but without math i guess its not enough. one of the problems was something like this: 1x5y2a89OMG1(2d9t5n3ROFL)+2h9d3n21BBQ(3j5bn8f9s69FTW)= RAWR!!1!1one ^how the hell do you work that out? thats why i failed...
  15. Fogel, i have really good hearing as well apparently, during my physical (ugg) my hearing test results were perfect except for 2 or 3 points off on the 6000Hz and 9000Hz range in my left ear... my vision wasn't 2020 but the guy put it down as that anyway since its probably eye strain from being in front of a PC all the time... he said it would get better after a break from computers (yeah right ). BlueAqua, congrats on getting out! i do actually have a question for you... in your day to day work, what kind and how much math did you do? i absolutely hate math and im not good at it... but i study general relativitystring theorym theoryother theories for fun... seeing what is possible and how things work is like something from a scifi movie ... right now im reading the "food for thought" area on www.blazelabs.com as its interesting and seems allot like string theory with the whole "standing wave" concept... anyways, enough rambling lol. EDIT: michio kaku is probably one of the best at putting things into lamence tearms, and one example of why i study the above theorys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1YISR8vN0U&feature=related neat aint it?
  16. thx all, thought you guys would have forgot about me being a member since i have been away so long LOL! SuppA-SnipA, im not sure about mp5, but i do know that in basic we live fire pistols and shotguns . Blooz1, i hear alot of good things about the nuke field, hopefully i wont grow an arm from my head or something weird... Dragoe, thats why i chose I.T. technodanvan, im not so eager to leave, which is why i pushed back til october... but that doesn't mean im not excited! if you did nuke in the navy, that would be freaking awesome if we ended up in the same area . nuke spots are hard to fill, hence the boost in pay raise to E-4, ability to go up faster, and nice benefitsbonuses BTW, i was waiting for someone to crack a semen joke, LMAO... and i would never get on a sub either, no way no how...
  17. i have three letters for that... L O L it was quite a long time ago when i last saw that on tv...
  18. Well i joined the navy and have already processed at MEPS in Jacksonville. the job i have been contracted to go in is information technology, but i just got a call from my recruiter saying that one of the chiefs is offering me a job in the "nuclear field"... I'm told this is the hardest rate to qualify for in the navy and that is comes with a hefty bonus, so I'm supposed to talk with him to find out what i want to do. as it stands currently with my job i have now, i ship out October 7. i will be sure to post back here about my job change since this seems to be big . Charlie McPherson
  19. well, i have been playing with macros more, here are some shots from today: im still learning though, havent had my camera long, but im learning. i prefer to go in full manual, i just get a better image that way :tooth:
  20. I agree with the RIAA, how could anyone rip those cute plastic disks? all they ever did to you was give the gift of music! how would you like someone to rip you and give your favorite parts to other people? i believe i am speaking for a pretty large percentage of the population when i say this, but the RIAA is a group of good people, and i would vote them for president if i could... shame on you all .
  21. ^indeed, you can do the same with pictures. instead of a phone number, just enter your email before you send the text message.
