Oh really? From everything they were saying on other forums, it seemed like AMD was the way to go. I guess I should have checked back here before making the final decision. Ah well, it is what it is. I'm happy with it. Maybe next year I'll upgrade to an Intel motherboard and processor.

Well, I am not a big overclocking fan (yet! ), so I only OC'd it to 2.85GHz. I could probably get it to 3GHz if I tweaked enough, but I am happy with the performance as it is now. From what I have read, the Intels do overclock easier and are more reliable. But in price-to-performance at low overclocking speeds, it seems AMD was the better choice. The entire thing only cost about $500 (not including the video card from my old computer).

I did listen to two suggestions from you guys. One was to stick with the 7900 for now, and the other was the case (which I love ). I was also taking suggestions from three other forums, and they got me going in the AMD direction. As for the power supply, I chose it myself. It had good reviews on Newegg and jonnyGURU (linky). Other questions/comments/suggestions still welcome!

Okay, so I finally finished my first build and overclock. Ended up sticking with the same 7900GS, but I did mod it a bit. If you guys have any questions/comments/suggestions I'd like to hear them. Enjoy! 6. I know this thread was dead, but I found this and wanted to show it off. It's kinda old, but still good.
  7. Hey where do you get the time per frame info?
  8. Unfortunatly, I am not a hardcore PC builder like alot of the guys here. I only have 80mm fans in my rig. I just took out a ruler to see actually how large 12cm is... it's pretty massive lol. I have 3 or 4 80mm fans I would actually like to test the honeycomb on. I want to place some thin sheets of it on the RAM and hard drive. I am also thinking about using some to route the air behind the motherboard and see if there are any temperature differences. Tell me what you think would be the best amount of material to get for this. Thanks!
  9. Aha, I just found the straw structure you are referring to. That looks very interesting; I might just have to give it a shot.
  10. Yes, I found his rig in the Case Gallery section. I was wondering if anyone else has personal experiences with them.
  11. I was surfing the web for fans when I found this site. Also there are some statistics here. Does it look worthwhile? Should I spend the money for one of these? :thumbs-up:
  12. Oh those sound NICE Raven! P.S. Reading is a crucial skill on forums.
  13. You should make it on my server, Shulgoth. Name is Yoshio, add me to your friends.
  14. I watched some gameplay trailers, and they looked pretty decent. I don't know, maybe that's just me.
