  1. so if i just bump up the frequency of it without changing the voltage and memtest says its good than theres no danger? that seems too easy! xD ~l4g
  2. Just like the topic says, I am wondering how to test the stability/danger of overheating of overclocked/undertimed ram. Thanks! ~l4g

    G5 v2 vs G9

not having used the g9 I wouldn't know but I definitely like the wieght/balance system on the g5 that seems to have been dumbed down in its "better" counterpart. Thank you all for you input, I will be over here with my g5 rev 1 that cost me all of $25! Black Friday ftw! ~lag

    G5 v2 vs G9

$52 on amazon The weight system means a lot to me since, though I use a trackball atm, from using my friends razer something or other (uncomfortable and unusable) and my other friends logitech something (wireless ftl) I really enjoyed the heavy weight of the second, I enjoyed the tactile response I got from it. I have not seen anything about the g5 not being comfortable for anyone, so I think i will take your word there and stick with the substantially cheaper g5v2 Thanks! ~lag

    G5 v2 vs G9

I have narrowed my search for a new mouse (upgrading from a logitech marble o.O) to the G5 v2 or the G9, and I'm having trouble picking between the two. I have heard that the g9 isn't quite as comfortable as the g5. I also am under the impression that I would be able to use the g9's onboard memory to get major functionality under linux (sabayon 3.4f x64) that I couldn't easily get with the g5. The g5's weight system also seems more attractive to me than the g9's since the g5 lets you have more smaller wieghts to get it closer to perfect. Cost is also a factor, I could get the g5 for 26 bucks less than the g9. Any other thoughts, anyone? Thanks! lag

    Which sound card?

Well I would prefer something under 100 dollars, and according to this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16829102006, the standard xtremegamer doesn't have x-ram...btw anything under 75 dollars (like that xtremegamer ) would b extra brownie points! -l4g

    Which sound card?

My only concern with the xtremegamer is that it specifies you need a 1.0ghz processor, does that mean that it does not process sound onboard? thanks occ! -l4g

    Which sound card?

Hey OCC I am looking at getting a sound card for my Asus m2n-sli deluxe (nforce 570sli), and I have my eye on the x-fi fatal1ty xtremegamer. It does seem rather expensive though, and I was wondering what the cheapest card (doesn't have to b a x-fi) I could get away with (not gonna hotrod a cheap xfi though) in order to take load off my processor, and take more advantage of my Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers, (they are very high quality IMO, though I am sure that some of you audiophiles are gonna laugh at me for saying that), and allow me to record streaming music (I have an older version of this mobo, it has the craptacular soundmax codec and stereo out for me is just static <_< ). Thanks in advance! -l4g
  10. Allright so I have this case, the NZXT Apollo. http://www.nzxt.com/products/apollo/. It has a rear fan and a side fan, and I installed a front fan and moved the filter from the side fan to the front fan. Just looking at my PC Probe temperature readings, reversing the side fan and installing the front fan have increased my temps. What is the best cooling scheme? The case fans are all 120s, I have a zalman cnps9500am2 on my processor, and my psu is an antec smartpower 500 (2 80s, one of them is always on the other kicks on wen it reaches a certain temp.) Thanks! l4g
  11. ok thanks...I will go with the corsair then (its $30...and I would buy it off newegg who's return policy is as good as costco for the first 30 days, and I plan to find any problems in the first 30 days ) -lag
  12. thanks for the input everyone what about this set? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145167, it doesn't have the epp (or sli or any other sticker), has better timings than that crucial ballistx, and is *very* cheap. -l4g
  13. so something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820146093? -l4g
  14. 240 pin-> search for epp -> $100-$200 range, then those seemed to be the notable ones, plus the ram that I have in my box atm (the pqi). I am using an asus m2n-sli deluxe and an athlon 5200+ (do not flame me for that plz) with a zalman cnps9500 am2...I am planning to overclock it however high I can get it running stable. -l4g
  15. Hey OCC...which of these three RAM modules is the best? Thanks!!! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820220161 - patriot eXtreme...highest speed of the three but worse timings http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145034 - corsair xms2...the middle ground http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820141199 - pqi turbo...best timings but slowest speed -l4g
