  1. Yeah that's just it... I've tried it all and it won't respond to anything I set it up for. The screen saver works when it's supposed to but none of the power settings do including monitor off.
  2. Just wondering if any of you new if there is a setting to toggle the standby or hibernation features in Power mgt? My puter wont do either since I changed my mobo. Asus P4C800E-deluxe.
  3. Interupting here, I'm watching this too cuz I have almost the same setup as he does. (P4C800E-D w/3.4 E) vdimm 2.8? is there another label for this voltage? (is it a voltage? lol)
  4. I'm still a little weary about changing too much too fast even though I've been reading alot of post here (including my initial "oc me", thanx guys). I seem to have resolved my memory speed problem, (it was at 166 instead of 200). I locked the AGP/PCI in @ 66/33 in BIOS and set the DRAM speed to 400MHz (it was on auto). When I used the auto oc in my Asus P4C800E-D Bios, I had it at 5% to give me just under 3.6GHz and a bus speed of 210 (everything went up by 5% using the auto oc (cept AGP/PCI and memory which said 168MHz). So I guess what I'm asking is this: Does it appear like I'm doing this right so far? And...now that I've switched to "manual" instead of "Auto" OC, it's opened up stuff I don't really want to screw with before here from someone who knows what the optimal settings should be. I certainly don't want to fry anything like my $1000 CPU or $800 video card (Canadian funds ) If you need more detail, I'll post all the curent settings. Sal out

    Heya

Thanx everyone, pretty decent welcome you guys put on. Cya's around the forums Cheers
  6. Is that program able to handle "all your overclocking needs"? Call me new, cuz I am LOL, but there's only two sliders FSB and AGP. I see that everything kinda goes up along with it but is that all you do to set your rig to higher speeds? If I try to get my memory speed up to 200, it means that my CPU will be 4.3 or something. Sorry bout the really dumb sounding questions. B)
  7. Ok, so in BIOS the settings where: Config DRAM timing by SPD [Enabled] So I disabled that and the CAS Lat. was and still is at 2.5 RAS# precharge 4 RAS# to CAS# delay 4 DRAM precharge delay 8 Burst length 4 and performance accelerator is [enabled] DRAM Idle timer [Auto] DRAM refresh rate [auto] Graphics Aperature 256 (this is right eh?) i read that it should be default at 64?!? You know I almost have to agree with taking 2 sticks out, cuz as far as I can tell it doesn't use anywhere close to 1GB. Or...I can get more OCZ I build gaming PCs in my spare time for ppl at work, so I can easily unload the micron for discount and buy new RAM. Sal
  8. Hmmm, that's just nasty. It says it's pc 3200 and 200MHz. ?!?! I have two makes of memory in my machine, 2 sticks are Micron and 2 are OCZ. both 3200 from Aida32 reports Memory Module Properties Module Name OCZ OCZ400512PH Serial Number None Module Size 512 MB (2 rows, 4 banks) Module Type Unbuffered Memory Type DDR SDRAM Memory Speed PC3200 (200 MHz) Module Width 64 bit Module Voltage SSTL 2.5 Error Detection Method None Refresh Rate Reduced (7.8 us), Self-Refresh Highest CAS Latency 2.5 (5.0 ns @ 200 MHz) the Micron memory says: highest CAS lat. = 3.0( 5ns @ 200MHz) and second highest CAS lat. = 2.5([email protected])
  9. K thanx, for now I'll focus on cooling it down some more in the case. But, your question about my memory speed...? not sure what it should be but I'll assume it should follow the 5% and says it's at Memory= 168.00 MHz CPU= 3570.00 AGP=66.67 FSB= 210.00 Thanks again for any pointers Sal out
  10. Hey everyone, I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to over clocking. So first, if you vets could help a guy out, I'd like some suggestions and comments on where I should start. here's what I have: Asus mobo P4C800E Deluxe intel P4 3.4GHz EE (extreme edition) Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition 2 Gigs RAM PC 3200 SB Audigy2 ZS 500W PSU I think that's all of the important stuff. I overclocked my CPU to 3.6GHz using the Asus bios feature (5% on auto). My temps are fairly stable, 35C idle and CPU gets around 50C to 55C when gaming according to "Asus Probe" monitoring utility. Mobo temp is close to the CPU temp. However, my video card is fairly warm I think... 48C Idle and almost 60C after working hard. Got lot's of fans, (3case, Zalman CPU cooler, PSU exaust and of course vid card),but don't know if I'm using them to the fullest. Cooling suggestions??

    Heya

Hello, my name is Sal and I'm a Puter-holic... hehe Well I'm new to the forum and just want to check out some of my OC options. I have decent hardware and computer knowledge (electronics technologist), I'm just uncertain and don't want to blow things up. So any suggestions from you veterans would be very cool. What I have to work with: Intel P4 3.4GHz Extreme Edition (oc'd to 3.6) Asus P4C800E Deluxe ATI Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition SB Audigy2 ZS 2Gigs RAM PC3200 500W PSU not enough fans... and a primary Monitor:LCD widescreen 17" Sec: my 42" plasma display Cheers, B) Sal out
