    Alown's build

I joined this site a long time ago, and then i stopped posting. For a long time i was using a Dell with an athlon X2 2400+ with 2 gigs of ram and a 3870. Well today I came here to say that i built my very first computer!!! So here are the specs: Phenom II X6 1055T @ 3.8Ghz (274 x 14) H70 Corsair 8 gigs of OCZ reaper PC12800 ASUS Crosshair IV ATI 3870 (plan to get a 6870) two Caviar Black 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache in a 0 RAID COOLER MASTER GX Series 750W 80 PLUS BRONZE I used the TurboV EVO program that came with the mobo to overclock it. Now here a bunch of pics! a Stock 932 My roommate got the same case of me, he painted his orange. THE FOOL! I redid the sleeving for the PSU, they were black. I am so excited for my first build. At one point i thought i fried but it turn out the 24 pin mobo cable wasn't plugged in. I called ASUS tech support and was talking to an amereican in 2 minutes. he helped me out. Thanks!
  5. I'm thinking of putting bullet holes in the side of my HAF 932. To see more pics check out this thread. Case thread Would on the right side by the HHDs not through the mesh or plexy glass. Thought?
  6. I need help overclocking cuz ima noob. My current setting are stable. But if the baseclk was 5mhz faster its unstable. I've tried upping the voltage but i didn't know how much juice is too much. Is it just temperature dependent? Also I wanna see if the can make my ram run faster and i know your supposed to make the RAS or CAS lower, but there are so many settings there, idk what to change. Also i think my RAM is overclocked to 1900Mhz, this was the last thing I set and wanted to you what you guys think. AT 4.0Ghz (286x 14) 1.425V max temps are 47 degrees. EDIT: OMFG ima noob, I was only looking at AMDoverdive's core temps. While the cores were 46C, the CPU was at 68C. I guess I won't be getting the cpu going any faster.
  7. I guess my issue is my stability. I can boot windows at 320 * 14 =4.48Ghz but its not stable at all. Im worried about raising my core voltage higher. is there a point when its too much voltage even if you have great cooling?

    Corsair H70?

The H70 runs about 3-5 degress cooler than stock H50. It is pricey, but i bought it anyways cuz I wanted the newest and best for my new rig, also Ima dummy. http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1395/7/ Here is a review of the H70. This site is amazing with its cooler/heatsink reviews.
  9. Slightly Give more info CPU, Cooler and voltage.

    Bullet Holes

Thank you very much for your advice. As my family deer hunts, there are many high powered rifles available to me.

    Bullet Holes

Just to set some points straight. 9mm handgun (3-5 shots), not shotgun. Right side of the left panel(panel shown in pic), where the HHD and IDEs are. The cool think I think is the these will be physical holes, the light from the cathodes will be able to shine through them. I was talking to my roommate about this and we were debating if this would add or decrease the value of the case. I already gave it a paint job for better or worse. My mind is still open, Im just curious. Do you think it would look any better with or without them?

I have an old case I plan to pepper first, just to see how it looks.

Alright, but only if you give me some advice. I need to know what i should be looking for. Whats the max CPU voltage I should set it at? I just installed the H70 Corsair cooler, its great! temps at 40C max I started playing with the voltage and marking what i can do. (I turned down all the multpliers in the BIOS so those shouldn't be a problem.) Voltage @ Baseclock (ok means i was able to change without crashing windows) [this is if i check for stability] 1.4V @ 290 ok 1.4V @ 295 ok 1.4V @ 300 ok 1.4125V @ 300 ok 1.4125V @ 305 ok 1.4125V @ 310 crashed 1.425V @ 300 ok 1.425V @ 305 ok 1.425V @ 310 ok [ran prime95 instant crash] 1.45V @ 275 ok 1.45V @ 285 ok 1.45V @ 295 ok 1.45V @ 300 ok 1.45V @ 305 ok 1.45V @ 310 ok [crashed] 1.45V @ 300 ok [stable so far] 45C @ 4.2Ghz CRASHED >.< 1.425V @ 295 [testing] I'll keep playing around and await some advice.

I ran prime95 for an 2 hours, stable at my current setting, 1.35V 275Mhz x 14 for 3.85Ghz tomorrow play to start playing with the voltage.

I am not sure how to test if they are stable. I did turn prime95 for like 5 minutes and it played singularity for 1 hour. dude.... about the case, my and my roommate stayed up til 5 am working out, we went through 3 pop-rivet guns cuz they kept breaking on us, with it being an 10 minute drive to menards. I choose to go with the AMD and crosshair IV at the last minute. I was planning to go with the i7 760 for a really long time. But the ASUS crosshair IV look so sexy in the case... XD how could i pass it up. PS, did i mention that its too big to fit under my desk? ohhh HAF 932, your so cute.

omg your so aweome, Thanks. I really want my computer to kick butt, you don't know how many lawns i had to mow to pay for it. And now college is starting, idk if i will be able to get my video card...
  18. I have a 3870 in my desktop. its doing, like, 600 iterations per sec. I guess thats kinda fast when you compare it to my laptop. My laptop has a 3200 and its cpu is 2.1Gz Turino X2 ZM-80. The gpu folding on it does about 20-50 Its per sec. So i wanted to know would the cpu folding be faster. -Thanks Alown nice to be back.
  19. I used a linksys usb thingy for a long time, about 2 years, and it was very stable. Once a month or so when i turned off and back on a couple of times. I would have to unplug it and then back in to get it to work agian.
