  1. :withstupid:

    And a Z77 board?

If you don't plan on overclocking, you can just get something like the i5 3450S and an ASRock H77 MB.

I was doing the 3570k because for 20 dollars I dont ming the .3 ghz extra, and i chose the k, just in case the video card also has issues, this one has the intel graphics 4000 in comparison to the others. I have not been able to test if the video card survived the shipment.

  2. Hi,

My current PC got damaged during transportation (CPU killed, and motherboard clips broken) and I am looking to make it run again.

My previous specs were the following

    - EVGA GeForce GTX 280 1GB PCI Express 2.0 x16

    - PC Power and Cooling S61EPS 610W Continuous @ 40

  3. All,

Thanks for the replies. I have tried the hardware accelerated decoding and it did improve performance, but there is still a little lag in just a couple of the bigger files. But with the new conditions I do not think it is worth upgrading the computer for now.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

  4. When I was diagnosing the sluggishness I tried to remove all other factors, and tried reading the movie file directly from the local hard drive and it still had issues (it was an .mkv file around 9 gb)

The specs of the current computer are the following

    AMD Athlon Neo X2 6850e dual-core processor 1.8GHz

    4GB DDR2 system memory

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics With 512MB graphics memory

    1TB 7200rpm hard drive

  5. Hi,

At the moment I am trying to help my family setup the home network but I am not sure which is the best way to go.

We are looking for a computer to connect to a 55" inch LCD tv, normally we use this to watch movies, youtube, internet TV streams, listen to music. Currently we have a Dell Zino HD connected to the TV, but the computer feels sluggish when playing high definition movie files. So we are looking for an upgrade in this area.

We have a budget of around 1000, and we are looking for a smaller form factor that can handle large movie files and can interact with the current network with out problems.

    - Mac Mini

    - Alienware X51

    - build something

    Setup (whole network)

    - 1 Windows PC

    - 2 Mac laptops

    - 2 Iphones

    - 1 IPad

    - 1 Apple TV

    - 1 HP media server

so any help and recommendations are greatly appreciated,

  8. My father wants to set up a home network, but i am not sure which equipment to buy for him.

    The plan is the following..

    - He wants a central computer/server with all the music/video files from all the computers, so it can be accessed by any computer in the network or watched through an xbox.

-There will also be another computer connected to a big screen tv via hdmi hopefully something small that can handle good quality videos.

so my question is the following which server, small computer and software for general networking would you recommend to get this project working

    any help is appreciated

  9. okay im looking for a laptop for under 1000 dollars...

  11. I was trying to install Windows 7 64 on my vista 32 machine on dual boot.... i went changed my boot device priority so i could install installed windwos 7 on a partition on the same drive as my vista ... which said it was SYSTEM.. and my storage drive was primary..... after installation i swtich back the boot order... and windows 7 installed the boot loader on my storage drive and it is now seen as system and my partition where vista is as primary....

vista still boots, but i get no option to choose windows 7.....

how can i undo this and put my vista back as the system drive?

and if possible how can i do the dual boot thing..

    any help is appreciated

now windows 7 booted, but no option to select vista... :S

i think it has something to do where the boot was installed, but ihave no idea why it was installed there or how to uninstall it...

  12. Well after making up my mind i came out with the following, this can be my final setup the only thing that can change will be the vidcard depending on the release price of the 4870x2, and the other changes could be the ones the OCC suggest.

    - EVGA 01G-P3-1282-AR GeForce GTX 280 SuperClocked Edition 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

    - 2x SAMSUNG 20X DVD

  13. so if there is no actual difference which motherboard would u recommend??? im looking for something that can run a gtx 280 or a 4870x2 in the best conditions possible for around 100-150 bucks... although i said previously that i might not OC... i was thinking that i could also do a minor OC... its just an idea... so which motherboard would u guys recommend???

    any help is appreciated...
