  1. i said it once and ill say it again, i am not using any firewalls

    nothing

    not one

    not two

    not any

    i am running win2k executive pro sp4

i finally was able to access the router after deleting and readding the tcp/ip port in network connections

im guessing it was just corrupted... dunno

i have to install ut04 now to see if it connects like it should

  2. i had a similar problem and it was a problem with my user account.  Try logging on as administrator and see if that solves it.  If so, just create a new account and move all your docs and settings over in safe mode.

my net is provided through Charter Communications cable 3 meg service and is routed through a SMC Barracade 5 port wireless router with print server

ok, logged into admin and still doesnt work

    however, IE now works fine

    wtf mate?

    i dont get it

when i open limewire, it gives me this message:

LimeWire was unable to set up a port to

    listen for incoming connections. Some

features of LimeWire may not work as expected.

  3. ok, heres the deal...

i have an intel pro 1000 ct ethernet card (well its onboard but same difference)

it wont let me connect to servers for some reason

my windows inet explorer cant connect to the web at all

    limewire and winmx cant connect

cant connect to any ut'04 servers but can get the active server list and chat

i am typing this post using mozilla cause its the only web access i seem to have

oh yeah, winamp connects to streaming audio flawlessly... wtf?

    any clue what happened?

    thanks in advance

    what are you talking about?

the problem was fixed with an updated driver and my temps are always low

cpu never goes past 40*c under 100% load

    case is pretty much open

    1 120mm in front 1 90mm on cpu 1 50mm on vpu 2 40mm on ram 1 90mm on rear of case 1 80mm on psu

    zalman coolers all around

    artic silver paste anywhere possible

  6. I,ve tried all that davidst really nothing works and i dont have the same motherboard he has, but as stated above i had the same problem.

ok, after wondering what to do before blowing $100+

i went to ATIs webpage and downloaded a new driver and the ATI Catalyst software

this somehow made everything back to normal

currently the card is working awesome, but i am still going to look into a new card

  7. no kidding, anyone who recommends one of those cards should honestly be shot. my 9200 pci beats a fricking fx5800 image wise hands down. uuuh dont remind me how bad they were.

    441341[/snapback]

im sorry, i ment the fx6800 not 5800

i dont run pcix so thats outta the question

im also gonna contact ati directly with the problem im experiencing

  8. my first computer was entirely built piece by piece from ebay

i took about a month or 2 to research everything on the market, read reviews, more reviews, more reviews, checked out all the new product releases, etc

research is the key! use it!

now if i were to build a computer for someone, i only need to know 2 things...

    1. what is your budget?

    2. what will be the main use of the computer?

  9. you can use a dremel for almost any design, you just have to take your time

i first said a dremel tool will not be small enough for this design

the dremel site you linked included designs that i can cut out with a dremel no doubt

because i want this certain design, im still saying no way in hell am i cutting it out with a dremel

i emailed the water cuts guy to see what he can do for me... thanks for the link :)

  11. seems to lock up faster in high resolution

only happens when i try to run a game (UT'04, C&C Generals) even a 3d fish screensaver will cause a lockup

    im not overclocked

my psu reads stable via using my Fluke multimeter

tried swapping processors to no avail

memtest was ran over an over

plenty of free space on the HD

tried another mobo to no avail

i dont have a spare video card to swap in to see what happens

cauld a faulty video card cause a complete lockup?

p.s., i already tried disabling all background programs and no difference
