  1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118052 I am using this cooler.
  2. I was expecting sata III speeds. but I do under stand what you are saying. I did not know that mechanical drives had that limitation. I guess I will have to get an ssd drive then.
  3. I would like some advice on overclocking my 955. System: gigabyte 890fxa-ud5 2 x 2gig g skill rip jaws ddr3 1600 cl 7-8-7-24 1.5v 2 gigabyte 6850 crossfire my temps are 34c idle I was thinking about using amd overdrive to overclock with. This program any good?
  4. My access time is 16.9 ms. Is that decent?
  5. Well I ended up just buying a copy of win 7. Asus has not even responded to me. O well, atleast the copy of win 7 I have I can use on any system I want. I love all the white case and power supply, looks sharp. I am going to get more picks up maybe this weekend.
  6. I don't know how to get a screen shot of it but my max transfer rate was 136 mb/sec. My average was 105 mb/sec. And my minimum was 64.8 mb/sec. That all seem normal?
  7. I just got my new build up and running and I need some advice. My mother board is the gigabyte 890fxa-ud5. The chip set drivers that came on the driver cd contain only the catalyst control panel. As far as i know the control center is not a chip set driver. On gigabytes website it is the same thing. The download link gives you catalyst control center. I suspect that my hard drive is not working at maximum transfer speeds. It is a sata 6 hard drive, and I have it plugged into a sata 6 plug on my mother board. But windows only says it has a score of 5.9 on there index. That just surprised me. And seeing as I can not tell if I have the correct chip set drivers installed, I am getting the feeling that things are not working as fast as they should be. Any one got any advice?
  8. Thank you for the link, but that is the same file I have all ready downloaded. It is the catalyst control center. Unless that is what AMD uses for drivers for their chip sets I am confused. But that is also what is on the driver dick under chip set drivers.
  9. I would assume that it dose. Also I got to find out about the mother board drivers for this board. All that came on the disk was catalyst drivers, and all gigabyte has on there website for mother board drivers is catalyst drivers.
  10. Sweet! GPU-Z worked great. Says I have crossfire enables, 2 gpus. But AMD overdrive only shows 1 card in the hardware monitor.
  11. I got 2 6850 on a gigabyte 890fxa-ud5 motherboard. I havr poert to both cards. The bridge is conected. In the catalyst control center in the performance tab under crossfire configureation I have the "enable crossfire" box checked. There was no confirmation when I enabled it. How can i tell If it is working as intended? Under the crossfire diagnostics panel when I hit "identify gpu" nothing come up. I checked my bios to make sure my pci e slots were enable or for crossfire options in there but there was none. Also when I went to gigabytes web site to download the mother board drivers all I got was catalyst control center.?????
  12. Well if I do not have to why would I be stupid enough to buy a new operating system. All it dose for me is play games. All windows dose for me is strictly as a user interface, nothing more. If it was possible for me to still use the vista I ad, it would not be very smart to go buy another $200 version of windows. Also new egg has refunded the return shipping cost after I complained to them.
  13. Well i am not sure how short a short one is or how long a long one is. I know my cards are two slot cards, so the bridge will have to span at least two slot.
  14. Update! Well I got my new case. But ran into another problem. Apparently Gigabyte dose not include crossfire bridges with any of there products. I bought a second 6850, so I have two. But neither of them came with a bridge. The gigabyte motherboard I bought did not come with one either. So now I got to but a bridge. Also, the windows vista that came with my laptop from asus would not install on my new computer. Told me it was not an asus system! I am pissed, I sent them an email. I'll probably have to buy a new operating system now. But soon as I get things up and running I will post some picks of my build progress and the finished product.
  15. Well, this build is on hold. New Egg sent me a broken case. And i had to pay $41 to send it back for a replacement. that is one third of the price I payed for the dam thing. so that is all for now until i get my replacement case.
  16. So here are some pics of my new parts. This is just the beginning. I have not actually began the build, just purchased all the parts. Soon as I begin the actual build I will post more pics of my progress. http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j76/7d7_1981/New%20Rig/

Woot! My case and monitor arrived today. I am going to try to get some pics of my build process posted. Not sure when though. This week i got college classes all week long and then on the weekend i got an 8 hour over time shift and then on Sunday I am going to PAX east. So maybe next week some time i might be able to get some pics and post them.
  18. My white Phantom just arrived today. it is being used for this http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=182912 build. Hopefully I will get some pics posted up of my build process and the finished product.

Yeagh, I figured I would be safe in either case if I went with the 1600MHz sticks. not much of a difference in price, so what the heck.

Here is my recently purchased build: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128441 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231430 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125353 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146067 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817116011 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136795 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106325 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009275 This is everything I ordered. It cam in at $1076.86. It could of been $15 cheaper, but I forgot to add the MB and GPU combo, and instead bought them as separate items. Kind of pisses me off. Still, quite reasonable I think. Also, I will be getting some white cable sleeving to sleeve the power supply cables. I think it will look awesome.

Yes that is the power supply I am considering. And as for the ram, that was my first thought as well. Withe the multiplier unlocked my ram speed may not be an issue. Also, this is the monitor I was looking at. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009275

Should I go for faster ram then? I do not think it is that much more expensive.
  23. Here is my current build, I have not built a pc for quite a while and this rig will have to last me for about 3-4 years. AMD Phenom x4 965 ( I will over clock this ) 4 gigs G.Skill Rip Jaws (2X2gig) DDR 3, 1333 Gigabyte Radeon 6850 GIGABYTE GA-890FXA-UD5 AM3 AMD 890FX motherboard 750 watt NZXT power supply NZXT Phantom full tower case This is my base system. I expect mid range performance out of it. I chose the x4 965 because it is a very cheap cpu, and it seems it over clocks well, which means a big bang for my buck. The same go for the video card. A 6850 is cheaper than the 6870, and i figure I can always buy a second 6850 later down the road.
  24. I actually did a search also, and did not find any P67 boards in stock. But yes I am set on AMD any way. I am also torn between a decent gigabyte 890fx board and a Biostar 890 fx board. Any one got any opinions on Biostar?
