That's awful dude :( I would talk to the retailer where you bought it (Newegg, Microcenter, etc.) first. If they are not able to help you, take it up directly with Intel's customer service. They should honor their product and send you a new one.

As for the Motherboard, I'm not sure how old it is but you should be able to send that back to the retailer as well, explaining what happened.

Did you angle the CPU in and bend the pins? Was the socket protector still in place when you took the board out of the box?

Looks like the bent pins on the board blew/broke one of the pads off of the CPU. It's probably trashed along with the mobo if they shorted together...

no i didn't angle it

i just put it vertically and aligned it with the Notches in the Socket

and the socket protector WAS ON when i puy it

i think that there were a pins taller that others

i'm going to RMA the Mobo

but the CPU i don't know what to do

just what's in my thoughts either.

and i'm just wondering; does burnt / shortened components are legible for RMA in the US, Aus, Europe? cause i'll be doomed if that happened on my part, we have this somewhat ridiculous RMA policies here in the Philippines wherein; burn / short it then you're on your own. so that's why those sales reps who handed over the goods(mobo) takes our attention checking with the mobo's socket pins and stuffs for any physical damage before we leave the store.

i feel your pain 7oss :( hoping you'll get over it in no time, good luck.
