Try it. I'll be trying the highest I can go tomorrow. But theres a big storm now, so I wont dare turning my pc on .

I remember a couple weeks ago when all the nvidia fanboys were saying "Just wait till 3D Mark 11 comes out, the GTX480 will destroy all ATI cards when theres so much tessalation" :lol:

Hey Water_ Hazard , since I got the second post on this thread , can I make a score comparison chart ?

Sure. I was going to but work has been kicking my butt this week. Already over 50 hrs since monday :doh:

Edit: I've got some extra time now so I'm gonna start making a comparison chart

3dMark 11 came out today, so I figured I would make a topic to post some scores.

Download Link

I only put scores that had a screen shot or a link to the score.

hey water_hazard my score is wrong in post 17 i had a score of p6613 @ 907/1814/2424 i7 950 @ 3.7ghz i can get you a screen if you want, but for now you have my score from post #8 and speeds from #12, i know your tired and all so ill forgive you this one time :P

also how did you get your memory clock up to 3980 on the 480 afterburn will only let me go up to 2470 as a max

You mentioned some ram timings... you really think it has that big a difference?? I think id like to test this, I ran 4.4Ghz through the bench with my ram at like 1650 or something, and at 6-8-6-20... I think ill drop it to like 1200mhz(i dont remember the exact number that the lowest divider gives me at 210bclk) and 9-9-9-28 and see what it does to my score. Have to wait until i get home to do the test though.

So i decided to test at 3.6Ghz instead of 4.4ghz... mostly because i didnt feel like messing with all my fans and blah blah blah... Plus i at 3.6 i was able to have a very wide range memory divider to REALLY test at high and low memory speeds. You will also notice that i not going to be linking any results pages, as they dont record memory settings either way. Plus during one of my tests i forgot to hit save on the document, and lost two of the links, so rather than try and find them again, i just left them all out, here are my results:

i7-930 @ 3.6Ghz

ATI 5770 @ 950core/1275mem

Mem = DDR3 1724mhz @ 6-8-6-20 1T

CPU physics score in 3dmark11 = 8907

i7-930 @ 3.6Ghz

ATI 5770 @ 950core/1275mem

Mem = DDR3 1724mhz @ 9-9-9-27 2T

CPU physics score in 3dmark11 = 8656

i7-930 @ 3.6Ghz

ATI 5770 @ 950core/1275mem

Mem = DDR3 1035 @ 6-8-6-20 1T

CPU physics score in 3dmark11 = 7130

i7-930 @ 3.6Ghz

ATI 5770 @ 950core/1275mem

Mem = DDR3 1035mhz @ 9-9-9-27 2T

CPU physics score in 3dmark11 = 6869

Well as you can see, turns out memory speeds and timings can make a pretty big difference in 3dmark cpu physics scores. The difference from DDR3 1035mhz @9-9-9-27 2T from DDR3 1724mhz @ 6-8-6-20 1T got me a MASSIVE increase of 2038 points!!!

Originally i think thinking that perhaps for the first time that ive ever seen that, memory mhz was worth more than timings... but i decided to try to go for the highest OC capable on my ram while still staying at 3.6Ghz it was able to do this with only a 8mhz core clock increase but take my memory up to 1814mhz @9-9-9-28 2T, however this proved to be that maximum overclock capable on my ram as I was unable to get a stable OC at anything significantly tighter than 9-9-9-27 2T stable enough to bench on, but I guess that’s pretty good for ram that is 1600mhz 7-8-7-24 stock eh? But here is what I got at almost the same 3.6Ghz:

i7-930 @ 3.6Ghz

ATI 5770 @ 950core/1275mem

Mem = DDR3 1811mhz @ 9-9-9-27 2T

CPU score in 3dmark11 = 8804

So it looks like getting those timings down is still the best way to OC your ram, but if your able to do both like I did, and increase the speed and decrease the timings, you might be able to get some VERY sick results.

Anyways I hope some of you guys find this info useful! Perhaps if you AMD boys can get your ram speeds up a bit using a different multi but not mess your timings uptoo bad, you might be able to get some better scores! I feel like im all doing is throwing fuel into the flame that is Nyt’s and Matty’s duel, lol.
