lol I had a big thread with the freeze problem on loadup and nobody answered and told me that this could be a USB/PS/2 Issue, even if in my case the DVD Drive was broken. I have a PS/2 Keyboard and an USB Mouse, could that cause an abnormal long boot while this winxp logo shows up ?

Always

ALWAYS clear CMOS after flashing the BIOS. As you have seen there are sometimes new options in a new BIOS. Old settings carried over during a BIOS flash are a disaster waiting to happen.

Always clear CMOS after a BIOS flash.

all my options that i had previously set were still there.

The Normal Clear CMOS.

If you skip or miss any step you must start again since the results will not be valid.

Make sure that all 4 power connectors are plugged into the board

# 24pin ATX connector.

# 4pin +12v P4 connector, near the ATX connector.

# Floppy power connector, under the CPU socket.

# Hard drive power connector, on top the chipset fan.

------

Remove power from the rig by pulling the plug or switching the PSU off.

Remove the Battery.

Move the CMOS jumper to CLEAR.

Press the Start Button on the case or motherboard to drain the capacitors.

You may leave the board in this condition for as long as it takes to clear the CMOS. If a short 30 second clear or a 15 minute clear doesn't work, try an 8 hour clear.

Move the CMOS jumper to Normal.

Replace the Battery.

Apply power to the rig by plugging the power in or using the switch.

Press the Start Button to power the rig up.

When the BIOS screen or the Lanparty logo shows on the screen press the Delete Key on the Keyboard.

Load Optimized Defaults then Save and Exit.

On reboot, when the BIOS screen or the Lanparty logo shows on the screen press the Delete Key on the Keyboard.

Enter the BIOS again and set it up the way you want for your particular rig.

Save and Exit.

The rig should now reboot normally.

Remember that when you flash to a new BIOS version there may be new options available.

NEVER load any saved CMOS settings from CMOS Reloaded once you have a new BIOS installed.

this bios is based on -3

if you are using -2, I highly suggest you wait until I can get them to compile the 6/15 based on -2

Onepagebook said its a 'one size fits all' bios

in reference to teh 5-10 Bios series...

pershoot says :

-1 tccd/tccc 3.26 dram table

-2 bh/ch 3.16 dram table

-3 both/misc./generic 3.10 dram table

Some say that -1 and -2 are the other way around...but whatever the situation is you have to try them all out and see what performance you get with each of them.

From AG's post, we can probably infer that there will be multiple versions of this BIOS as well.

Ok for you guys that have been running the 510-X variants with success and had LEARNED the Dram Configuration settings that WORKED> forget that for awhile and run OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS in Dram Configuration for a while until you get your feet wet with this bios ALL OVER again. This bios has some major changes and if you run in and load your "previously" learned Dram Configuration LIKE I DID> uh oh is going to be your response.

This is my very SINCERE heads up to you that have learned the 510-X variants well and had your tuneup done. This bios is going to take a 'relearn' and retune or you will be sitting at the bottom of the screen where PCI buss devices have been found and with a cute blinking cursor. You have been given a heads-up.

This "heads-up" does not apply to you guys that do not tweak or tune your settings as you will have nO clue what I am talking about and just flash and clear CMOS and then load optimized defaults like you always do and carry on un-tweaked and you should be fine.

This is only to you tweakers as a word of caution to try out the BIOS as is for a while in Optimzed Defaults. Of course you will need to take care of your increased voltages but I am specifically referring to the Dram Configuration section as for me it responded nothing like a 510-X variant and my favorite had been 510-2.

Ok now I said the same thing from at least two (2) different prespectives and one more time> you tweakers better try the Dram Configuration on Optimized Defaults for a little to get your feet down on the ground because this bios is pretty d*mn different at least for me a tweaker of Dram Configuration settings.

RGone...

EDIT: At this time it is very probable that there will no longer be any multiple -x.bin versions of bios. So you get used to the idea from hence. RGone...Again...
