#2166415 Have ya'll ever seen anything like this before?

Yeah but I thought those Dimm.2 slots on the Asus were pinned differently so you couldn't put memory into it on accident.

I don't think it would work unless a chip is fooling the system into thinking its X amount of ram. isn't DDR2 still faster than a NVMe drive?

#2166405 Quick Math Help

Posted by ir_cow on 10 November 2018 - 10:56 AM in OCC Member's Lounge

Hey my brain became stupid and I need to figure this out.

I need to know how much ink is used in square feet

worked out that 1.29861111111 Sq.Ft printed space = 1.7ml of ink used. So how much ink is used in 1 Sq.Ft? and how much 1ml of ink equals to in square ft.

Thanks. This has to be simple but i'm losing it lol.

Yep any key will work on the M$ ISO. Keys are easy to find / buy if you are okay with OEM.

Apparently a lot of people are getting bad 2080Ti cards. artifacts can be memory or GPU core related. No problems with my 2080 so far.

If you got them free, the worst that could happen is they just don't work.

Most coins are dead and GPU mining isn't very profitable. ROI is like 2 years + now.

#2166328 eBay buying woes

Posted by ir_cow on 31 October 2018 - 10:52 AM in Processors, Motherboards and Memory

I dried it off and replaced the thermal pads. Boots and passes stress tests.

I always avoid power supplies and motherboards, but i took the risk from someone with 1200 feedback. Doesn't always means the seller knows how use the components properly.

I bought the X399 Gigabyte Designare EX. It lives up to its rep. Make sure to update the BIOS. A lot of options were missing from F1. Runs 3200 Cl14 now. Wouldnt boot before with F1.

#2166314 eBay buying woes

Posted by ir_cow on 30 October 2018 - 04:50 PM in Processors, Motherboards and Memory

I know the first thing people are going to say is "you should have known". Against my better judgement i bought a used x399 motherboard. Basically $125ish off with a free monoblock.

I got the motherboard today and did my inspection. It is really good i did, this seller didnt reassembled the the heatinks right. Everything was lose and im sure he tried to watercool it with vrm 3 thermalpads instead of the one included with the monoblock. Water was still under the pads and im supprised it didnt short on the dude. It was rough.

Lession is to be prepared to get total crap when ordering. If i just assumed it was fine, i would have a dead cpu and be super pissed today.

#2166297 BCKL vs CPU speed

Posted by ir_cow on 29 October 2018 - 03:57 PM in Overclocking and Cooling

I want to say no to different results because one is just raising the multiple based on the BCLK and the other is changing a BCLK with a lower multi. Same numbers, different way of doing it. However changing the BLK does affect some subsystems which is why you can't do 150 or 200. Soooo.. IDK.

#2166248 is 2070 RTX worth it?

Posted by ir_cow on 24 October 2018 - 10:09 PM in Video Cards and Monitors

2070 cant do SLI FYI (no fingers). I was reading the 2080Ti struggles with ray tracing at 1080p. Im hoping thats "leak" info is just bs because it will be a super let down. However ray tracing takes some seriously balls, so im a half believer.

#2166236 Asus Prime X299-Deluxe or Asus WS X299 PRO?

Depends on your price range. Both are okay.

#2166221 is 2070 RTX worth it?

Posted by ir_cow on 21 October 2018 - 02:29 PM in Video Cards and Monitors

I would get a 1070 Ti for 1440P gaming. $350 is a good price for that. The 2070 is like the performance of a 1080. Just my opinion though.

#2166202 Aorus GTX 1080TI Waterforce WB Xtreme

Posted by ir_cow on 19 October 2018 - 04:43 PM in Video Cards and Monitors

Is it not listed on techpower website? It should be the same BIOS as the GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Aorus Xtreme Edition. Same PCB and everything...just with a waterblock on it.

Zotac is a Chinese company. Horrible ownership of warranties, besides that they are alright.
