  1. okay i see... oh ok. Is winamp stereo only? does it only support 2 channels? i swear with my Z560's it said 4 channel in status and not 2 channel.
  2. I was browsing at circuit city and found an Audigy 2 Platinum (NOT ZS) for $80 so i bought it since it was on clearance (unopened) for a pretty good deal. Well i just bought the new Logitech Z5500's and i am still using the bundled drivers that came with the card, i checked out creatives site and they lack updated drivers. I was wondering if anyone knew a good site for creative's drivers? Also, When i do speaker calibration it doesn't play sound on the test for center, sub, and both rears, But when playing music or playing games all 5 speakers work jus fine, all my settings in AC3, windows, SB soft, are all set to 5.1 setup. Was trying to mess with Effect settings on these speakers and also tried the test with the analog input and 6 channel direct and still i get no sound from all 4 of those channels. Right now i have the input optically and the effect on DPLII Music. UPDATE::: Information Reguarding Problem I noted in the explanation that it says getting a Live! Drive would resolve the problem? isn't the 5.25" drive that comes with the platinum series cards considered the Live! Drive? Other update::: I was playing music in winamp and went to options>Plug-ins>Output>Direct Sound Output> Goto Configure> Status ... Output Format: 44100 HZ, 16 Bits Per Sample, 2 Channels. Do you guys know how to set to 5.1 channel, or 4 channel etc? Yes Another Update::: - I think this is the source of my problem, I got the sound test to identify all speakers correctly with Direct (Analog) as input, Digital still wont play all channels under the test, but if i play winamp with the digital connection i can hear all channels with winamp etc, just the rear is VERY quiet, But when i play programs with Analog: winamp, Windows media player, everything, only the front channels play (And sub), unless i set the effect on the speakers to Stereo X2 (All 4 speakers, just no front rear, only left and right)
  3. i check into the DMA option, Actually it was set to PIO and i changed it to DMA and it still skips etc. Both my Sony DVD+RW, and my Liteon drives are the Secondary IDE, and my sony drive works fine, even under PIO. nice info though, I read up on DMA and PIO. Thanks. --- Something i did notice--- Under device 0 (lite on) Transfer mode - DMA if Available Current Transfer Mode - PIO Mode Under Device 1 (Sony) Transfer mode - DMA if Available Current Transfer Mode - Ultra DMA mode 2 UPDATE: I turned off DMA on the sony and was able to get the DMA working on the Lite-on and it doesn't make a difference. Thanks for the input though.
  4. Err, i think i figured my problem out, I recently bought the new Logitech Z5500's, and i put the sub about 1 foot (through a desk also) away from my tower, i guess that could result in making a HDD or a cd-rom go out, dang oh btw, For anyone going to buy the logitech z5500's, don't. They are great speakers all around, but the subwoofer rattles, i got the first set, and certain songs made the front grill rattle, rma'd back to newegg for a new set, did the same. So for the 3rd set i bought some from compusa and put the bad sub in the box and refunded to compusa . The 3rd sub also rattled, So i ripped the front grill since there is no other way to remove the grill otherwise (It was a pain). But conclusion is the rattle is gone and in my opinion the sub looks better without it. I also sanded the box and repainted it flat black. I'll have to take some pictures and post them. Besides rattling, the speaker set it awesome, almost unbelievable with DTS. 320kbps songs you can really hear what you are supposed to.
  5. I installed a game and also installed a "no cd" crack so i wouldn't have to put the disc in everytime.. Well i came to the conclusion the $19.99 game sucked so i uninstalled it and popped a dvd into the drive (Bought DVD, not burned). When the DVD started to play the sound was really jittery and all over the place and the speed on my computer drastically decreased. So i rebooted and had the same problem. I removed all my audio drivers and codecs and reinstalled and updated them all to have the same problem. After reinstalled all software i checked all physical problems, IDE cable, Audio cable, Optical sound cable etc. Everything checked out fine. When i play songs from my HD (winamp, backed up dvd's, etc) it all plays fine, but when i try to play from a cd the performance is slow and the audio is jacked. My other sony drive (4X) works fine but the lite on is not working correctly.. Also i backed up a dvd i had with the lite on when it was having problems and instead of backin up at 7500kb\s like it usually does, it backed up at 2000kb\s... but when playing the movie files from Hard-drive they play just fine, just not from disc. Now i've never had a cd-rom go out, or have problems, and since there are no drivers for XP i didn't try that route, i did remove the device and re-add it though. I tested an audio cd and it works just fine, i also burned the cd i tested and it also burned just fine. Anyway any help would be GREATLY appreciated, I'm just glad dvd-rw drives are under $100 for a good one now.
  6. I've been playing cs since the betas, i know almost rate command there is, and trust me, i've tried them all, besides like i said in the post, I found the problem I did a trace route on a local website, Found out my isp routes to Cali and back to utah , No wonder i ping so high. So i keep qwest as provider, and use a local ISP (Xmission)
  7. Yeah 100-150 is horrible, my friend plays in the servers that i do with cable and gets 30-75. And yeah i've changed my rates, its exactly where it should be from trial and error. And yeah i don't use the software, its going from modem -> linksys (wired) router -> 2 pc's As of now i don't have any spyware or virus's either. I've been messing with this problem for almost a week now, i've tried almost everything on my end that i can think of. And what sucks is, DSL is the only thing avail out here. <_< Found out problem: I did a trace route on a local website, Found out my isp routes to Cali and back to utah , No wonder i ping so high. So i have to stick with qwest but i am going to switch ISP's
  8. Hey guys, I have 1.5mbps down \ 896kbps up DSL from qwest. When playing games online i have a horrible latency from a local server, around 100-120. (counter-strike source) I had 256kbps up\down from qwest and had the same latency (100-120). Downloads, Browsing, speed tests, etc all check out fine, but online games i'm getting horrible ping. Someone was telling me to go without a ISP provider (MSN, which i don't use) and to just use the DSL. - What i'm wondering is if this would if at all help as far as latency is concerned. Also i'm wondering if not being "Signed" in to MSN will affect anything as well? Thanks in advance
  9. yeah i was messing with it today, its the cone inside the sub forsure, for me to stop the rattling i would have to take the whole sub apart. My friends buying these 560's for $75 and i'm buying the new 5500's but i don't want to give him a set that has any problems. o well.
  10. Ordered online <_< I think my best bet would be sending to logitech, and the sub weighs quite a bit. honestly you can only hear it with certain bass points, i've played some bass techno (hella bass) and you can't hear it, bass sounds clear, but other songs (some hoobastank) you can hear rattles, dang maybe its my house. Better RMA my house!
  11. Hey guys, i haven't posted here in a while but i was just giong to drop a couple lines to see if someone could give me some advice. I have the Logitech Z560's, and they are awesome, at any level, i've had them for almost 8 months and recently when playing certain mp3's i can here a slight rattling in the sub woofer, and i know it has something to do with the horn inside, or cone, or tube, or whatever you want to call it. When i stick my hand in the hole (not all the way of course) and push on one side it stops, and not because there is no air flow. I notice when looking at it close that there are 2 peices of plastic spliced together with glue, and i think mine came apart. I was wondering if you guys think it would be wise to take it apart and just re-glue the tube or send it back to logitech in hopes of a new sub? Me and my friend took apart his logitech speaker system ( and it was a pain ) to find out that there is actually not a real 8" sub and just a small 3.5" speaker pushing a cone shaped like a sub, it wasn't the 560's, maybe 640's, but anyway, i know my subwoofer is going to be a pain to disassemble also.
  12. i bought the MSI via socket 754 board about a month ago, honestly i dont really like it, once you get it running its okay, but they have a lot of memory conflicts with mushkin 2-2-2 special, and the onboard sound i persoanlly think sucks, i was thinking about getting the new platinum nf3 250, but i haven't decided if i am going to stick with MSI
  13. Right on dignan, i've been working with this mobo for the last 16 hours! thanks. First my ram wouldn't post with the MSI's auto settings, so i flashed to 1.6 bios, changed the timing with my buddy's ocz, and i got my mushkin 2-2-2 working. Then my bios wasn't saying it was installed, so i'm like okay i'm ready to throw this mobo out the dang window. Then i read this , Thanks again!
  14. I am looking to spend anywhere from $150-$300... I have heard the 680s at a compusa but they didn't have they hooked up correctly to get the "best sound" possible. I was wondering if any of you have actually heard them or the megaworks for that matter, And which seems to be better for the price? 680's = $284 Megaworks = $245 -I was also looking at the Z560's from logtiech, they are 4.1 but have an awesome watt rating. I am really at a stand still on which speakers to choose at this point. I have the cambridge FPS2000 digital speakers now, and although i like them, they have lack of high volume without distortion -
