  1. thanks dude, i shall be! i'm in the IRC chat 24/7 on here, more peeps should drop in there, some very nice chats n' topics in there
  2. I literally just did hence my timely reply lol its clean now but it still overheats, i've googled it and it seems this laptop also runs HOT the GPU and CPU share the same heatpipes/heatsink ah well, good excuse to buy a new, proper PC
  3. Well i just enabled speedstep as its either that or stay at 1.2ghz.. now its jumping around like crazy from 2ghz to 1.2ghz and if i fold it goes right to 2ghz nicely but then overheats and thermal throttling kicks in... awesome LOL ah well at least i can get my sig made now lol thanks for the help all
  4. Its on "high performace" in widnows 7 x64... this is really wierd! EDIT: oh dear... http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19336427/19712011.aspx thats crap! damn you dell! i guess il have to stick speedstep on... though it does mean that for a good 9 months i've been using a 1.2ghz processor...
  5. I''ve done it in the bios... indeed so, while folding both cores it still remains the same
  6. my bad i meant the 450 GTS
  7. Ok... I've got a Dell Studio 1555 laptop here which is my main rig... its a 2Ghz core 2, 4570 GPU, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD... I was just about to make a CPUz validated sig for here when i noticed something.... http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1768093 CPU is at 1.2GHZ!!!!???? Now before anyone asks intel's speedstep is OFF in the bios & the laptop is plugged in and not on batterys.... also OCCT says the same thing so its not CPU z??? wtf?!!? help!! lol im all out of ideas
  8. all PPD is listed on my folding stats: clicky clicky for those who can be bothered to click though... my core 2 laptop (2 ghz) does about 135 PPD on the SMP client (would be more if i used the normal client and used both cores seperate for some reason?) my dual core athlon 3ghz does 170 - 200PPD per core my "roadrunner server" which runs at a office in town as an active directory machine does about 120PPD per core of which it has 2 its a pentium D 3ghz my sirus server which is a test lab machine for virtual machines and windows server operating system testing etc does about 54 on core 1 and 111 on 2nd core (its usually under load) celeron 433mhz does a pathetic 7/8PPD which is almost pointless but as its on 24/7 anyway it might as well... my current total is: 8 Clients @ 759.3 PPD pretty poor when you consider a 460 GTS graphics card will do about 800PPD quite easily lol still... every little helps
  9. Hey, yea its where the heat makes the motherboard hot which then makes the mobof flex and the clamp that holds the heatsink down doesn't keep the board straight which then leads to the GPU's solder joints breaking and leading the the RROD, theres afew other causes i think but thats the main one. its the actual clamp thats the problem not so much the heat, heat is expected from 360's
  10. do it! doooo it!! haha got to be done! i love old vintage gear I've done some pretty crazy stuff with older consoles etc.. such as: NES-PC Worklog
  11. thanks for the warm welcome guys! there is indeed some fairly vintage kit, the oldest being the commodore, then theres my server for various things which is a old laptop 256mb ram & celeron 433mhz then theres a pentium 2 266Mhz with 64 MB ram which i use as a ubuntu server (no gui) web server and samba shares. again thats a laptop too i have mostly laptops due to power comsuption as well as low noise xD I do have some up to date (ish) stuff my main laptop is a core 2 duo 2ghz with a 4750 gpu, 4gb ram, 500gb WD hdd but hell yea commodore FTW! it a original 1982 machine untouched but has a ethernet cartridge and is internet ready LOL great fun on telnet etc! worklog: Commodore 64
