#2161126 Faulty motherboard or video card?

Posted by SpikeSoprano on 29 July 2017 - 02:21 PM

I agree with the Cow, sometimes it's juat a matter of resetting the video card, put it back in the 16x slot and see if it works !

I'd use a dremmel tool with a cutting wheel and make the access hole bigger, it would not take much cutting, just a bit off the bottom.

#2159382 4690k to ryzen ?

Posted by SpikeSoprano on 10 April 2017 - 04:39 AM

After a quick google of both cpu's I think you should stay with what you have, the intel is faster for some programs you may run, then again I don't know what you use your pc for, there are a lot of comparsions on line .The 1700x would give you a much better improvment, but you have to add in the cost of a new mb also with either of the cpu's you choose.

#2157573 More Rumors, Including Pricing Leak for AMD Zen CPUs

Posted by SpikeSoprano on 28 November 2016 - 10:45 PM

I hope this truly happens, it would be so refreshing to see prices lowered on CPU's for a change.

For sure, Intel has had it way too good because of no competition from Amd these last 5 years.

#2155090 Got a New Mobo and PCU but problem to hook up MoBo to PCU

Posted by SpikeSoprano on 01 July 2016 - 10:03 PM

Hey there, that mb has an 8 pin cpu plug, your power supply should have a 8 pin plug with black and yellow wires on it, the 6 pin connectors are usually for the video cards, use the 8 pin from the power supply , it only goes on one way if you look at the clip.

Are you sure your pump is working on the cooler , sounds like it may have died if it is restarting just being online ?

#2149088 $1000 Gaming budget!?!?

Posted by SpikeSoprano on 15 November 2015 - 08:28 AM

Decent build, but I'm sure you could find a mb that would do the job at a much better price, and knock a few hundred off the final hit. Then again, we don't know what options you want in a mb.

#2146794 Residual DVD Drive Issues- from trying Windows 10

Posted by SpikeSoprano on 25 August 2015 - 03:21 PM

Before you do anything I'd put a multi meter on your psu cables and main mb connector and see if it's overvolting the usb ports or dvd burner. NO WAY a data disk or data flash drive would do that, it has to be a voltage overload.

#2146228 windows 10 help

Probably not, the keys are linked to the hardware on the pc that windows is on, you might have to make the call to Microsoft and explain the situation.

It's been a while since I've oc'ed an amd but I do remember raising the fsb at least 15 or 20 with no problems with the memory running faster, just make sure to keep an eye on your temps when running a load and you should be fine, they are great oc'ers.

I also have had great luck with Hitman , you can load it to a usb drive , boot from it and it dose it's thing before windows even loads.

#2140220 asus gtx 980 warranty ?

Posted by SpikeSoprano on 26 April 2015 - 10:03 PM

What happened with the used 980 for $400 ?

didnt trust him his story changed then the meeting place
and figured the 660 ti sli at 1080p would tied me over til the 980 ti come out
ive been benchmarking and at 1080p its pretty much the same as a 970

I am considering picking up another 660 for my rig, the sli benches are great, sure I'll be limited to 2 gb of vram but I only play at 1080 so that won't be a problem, cheapest way to go for now.
