When you fix a bad sector all it does is tell the drive to avoid those blocks. You can never actually fix a bad sector.

All I really want to do is somehow make them dead so I can benchmark the drive again, once hd tune gets to those blocks the program gives an error and quits running, because it's an external drive and windows won't even give me a smart report. windows for some reason is not marking them as bad. Also I can't get it to partition, if it would I'd just split it to 75/25 % and just use the first 75%.

In Topic: Why do people not recommend MSI Motherboards

Every system I have ever built I've used Gigabyte or Asus, 80% of them Gigabyte, I've had one flakey Gigabyte board out of about 40 (I use them for customer builds) and the problem with the one was it would only use 2 of the memory slots out of 4 so the customer didn't even want to return it as it was just a surfing rig. However lately like someone already said I think it's just luck of the draw for any brand. Go with what you need and hope for the best !

I just did a quick google of the mb and tought it said it will only support a m2 drive up to 32 gb, the one you listed is 240 gb, I may be wrong but you should double check that !

Edit, ignore that, what I saw was 32 gb's speed, so your good to go, looks like a good build !
