  1. Yes Sir It did die I had replaced it and the graphics card but then the monitor died....it was time and your right the ddr4 3200 is what I actually meant to buy.... but I know I'll not be able to wait for a return, I'll just live with it. Later I'll post the full build or should I say parts rolling in,
  2. Boinker Thank you for the come back I too like Mushkin hell last batch lasted oh 12 years or so. Alas I couldn't wait and ordered this DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Timing 14-16-16-31 CAS Latency 14 Voltage 1.2V DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Timing 14-16-16-31 CAS Latency 14 Voltage 1.2V
  3. Finally HAVE to start a new build....the last one lived a looong time, thanks to some of you. any way in the Mail so far are the (1)CPU: intel- I7-9700K 3.GHz 8core, (2) Corsair-H100I PRO CPU Cooler, (3) ASUS- Rog Strix Z390-E GAMING Motherboard. I'm having a little trouble selecting the Memory every thig has changed lol. Anyway I don't actually do much gaming but I multi task the carp out of them, banking, stocks, research, I may have 4 or 6 programs open at a time. Oh and Video editing, love movies and always have a line to the TV. Here's a link to the M.B. I'm sure no other help is needed if any Oh I'm trying to get this done today right or wrong! I've been down for weeks and don't know what to do....I'm retired.....it sucks, the grass is always greener https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=ASUS Republic of Gamers Strix Z390-E Gaming LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search=
  4. Well it's typical of me to jump too soon but no harm done. I'm now up and running. Let me tell ya when your baby goes down you suddenly realise how important it is. All of you gave me good advice and I'm relearning stuff just by researching what all have told me here. ir_cow the eBay seller overnighted the card so I was up & running the day after your post, for no other reason it was money well spent...Thanks. xenkw0n now that the damage is done if the bandage holds maybe I can wait for that dust to settle....at that time I'll probably be asking what card has the most punch for the money Oh thanks for the advice on the memory sticks.....eBay is your friend for old computers. I might even pick up that chip.
  5. No excuses guys but it has been awhile since I'd done any building....I should have given the thread a bit more time for others to post in. But it's up and running and looks just a tad better. xenkw0n Thank you for the info, I've forgotten so much....& feel a bit stupid admitting that I had no idea that they were still making chips for the 1366 socket. I remember looking for a new board wanting USB3 and didn't see any. You bring up another point about the memory. Can I add any old DDR3 memory to my existing ? here is a link to what I put in 9-10 years ago https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226050 I would like to get more memory. Thanks again guys
  6. Thanks Am a Cow I hadn't thought about used on eBay so I picked the 285 up for 37.00 close to half that was shipping. Total Nerd & Lab Rat thanks for the response, the board should not be an issue now. Doing this will allow me to pick up new parts on sale for a rebuild down the road......I'm thinking it's about time
  7. Hi Guys this forum helped me build my rig back in 2009 and it's been great but now I believe the Vid Card is shot. My question is will I have a problem putting a new card onto my old board with no problems? New Egg suggested this card https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487295&cm_re=GTX_1050-_-14-487-295-_-Product But their Teck support suggested that i contact the motherboard manufacturer to see if I needed a bios update or if there were any other problems but I thought I'd try here first because I trust you guys to give me a better answer.
  8. So Capt as far as the interface either would work? Of course the x4 for the speed but just courious. thanks again for the responce.
  9. Maybe it's this card I need http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815124130&cm_re=Controller_Card_Model_SD-PEX50055-_-15-124-130-_-Product to get the PCI Express x4 the former was an Pci Express 2.0.....would it matter? This one has the USB III on it as well. Seems I'm back to asking nubie questions.
  10. Thanks Capt The Samsung XP941 m.2 SSD would be Very nice. It's been awhile since I've looked at this stuff and thing are changing, some nice Cases, cooling systems ......I better order those cheap parts quick before I take the wrong fork in the road that my wife would not be fond of. I'm still digging - USB III on the things as well....oh crap. Thanks on the heads up promo code
  11. It's been awhile since I built this rig, with this forums help, it has been the best I have ever owned. It is still going strong but I got the bug, I hope to cure with a few parts Here is one I saw online and I think it will allow me to use a ssd on my board and get the 6.0Gbps.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816124045&cm_re=syba_Controller_Card-_-16-124-045-_-Product Any thoughts or ideas please send my way
  12. Well last night I put in the new Cooler ( Antec kuhler-h20-620), removed the heavy Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler. cranked it back up and everything has been working fine. The system sees all 6gb of memory, it's is no longer hanging up......go figure. I thought I was going to replace the mobo and memory for sure but seems I'm good to go. Thanks for the help everyone.
  13. Hello IVIYTHOS I’m sure you don’t remember but you were a lot of help when I built this rig in 09. This is all good info, I’ve never been big on returns but with the price per piece on this hobby….. it would be stupid not to. Almost all parts came from NewEgg.
  14. Thanks again MercuryDoun, nice to hear first hand on that board. I'm going to start with the cooler, maybe I'll get lucky, and go from there.
  15. Thanks for the comeback MercuryDoun, I adgree replacing the motherboard seems to be the logical fix that is why I was asking about the Sabertooth board, it has that MemOK! feature, which may solve the memory problem. I love to RMA the old board but I never seem to keep hold of my paperwork! that & I'm not entirely certain anything is wrong with it.
