  1. I was recently messing with this problem myself in an entirely XP Pro workgroup. I was searching through Local Security Policies and Services, racking my brain while trying to figure out why it wouldn't work. I ended up renaming the problem computer to a shorter name and suddenly it was accessible from all other PC's in the workgroup. It is possible that XP has a maximum length configured for the computer name when file sharing using Simple File Sharing. If you are indeed using SFS, then make sure the Guest accounts are enabled and the password is blank (or the same) on all PC's in the workgroup.
  2. hardnrg...i bow before you. I muted the playback setting and the mic is set for recording, it sounds like its working. I will need to test it in vent and ts2 still, but so far i have recorded myself and i hear no feedback. all hail nrg.
  3. I'm gonna try that ASAP. Thanks. EDIT: Didn't work. I still hear everything right through my mic. It also still increases dB when using the Mic Boost. Any other ideas? My system: A8N-SLI Deluxe 3000+ Athlon 64 6800gt 256mb 2gb Corsair I am using the onboard sound, just like i was with my A7N8X Deluxe.
  4. Not too long ago, I bought a TV card for my PC. Shortly after I noticed my microphone wouldn't respond well anymore, so I had to use push to talk. People in Vent/TS2 started to complain that they could hear everything in the background. I tried turining on Mic Boost in the audio properties, and everything I said was looped right back to my headphones, so I could hear everything I said, which is extremely annoying and hard to concentrate with. I figured I should just uninstall all the TV card drivers and remove the TV card from the PC, so I did, and nothing changed with my onboard sound. I then bought a cheap new headset, thinking maybe mine was broken, and still nothing changed. I thought, perhaps the TV card left something hidden on my computer, so i formatted my system drive and reinstalled XP. After installing the sound drivers, no change from either headset. Recently I bought a new system. Upgraded to an Athlon 64 and got some other new stuff as well. The new motherboard has 8-channel onboard audio. I tried both headsets on there...SAME PROBLEM. I said *BLEEP* IT and went and spent some more money. I bought a new sound card. Same problem. What the hell is going on. My computer now has all new components (save for optical drives and hard drives), and I cannot get away from this problem. I have an old dell sitting around with a PCI sound card, tested out both headsets there, they worked like a charm. I swear, there is some sort of evil following me around and I cant figure out what the hell to do. Even after formatting the drives completely, there is absolutely NO WAY any drivers could be left from the TV card. On top of that, the dang thing isnt even inside the PC anymore. What the hell do I do? Unless by some chance, the onboard sound decided to break by itself on my old board, and my new board came with the same crappy problem, and so did my BRAND NEW SOUNDCARD, I am at a loss. Obviously, thats not the case, but what in gods name would it be? I've never had to troubleshoot anything for so long in my whole dang life. PLEASE HELP ME REGAIN MY SANITY. Tell me something totally normal happened, and then explain it to me. It better not have anything to do with a poltergeist...
  5. I have three A+ cert cd images that are free. I honestly don't know how they stack up since I haven't looked at them yet. If you are interested email me at [email protected]

    Winamp

Definitely a codec problem. It has happened to me before with certain versions of the klite codec pack.
  7. If you like I have the images on an FTP server so you can download them. If you have a working CD key they will work fine. Just email me [email protected].

    Xpe + Ubcd

I'm attempting to make a utilities CD that will have a boot menu for multiple utilities, one of them being a fully functional OS (built in XPE) and another that will boot into UBCD to show its menu's utilities. I am running into problems, and basically the image won't boot (im using MS Virtual PC). I think this is due to a kernel incompatability, UBCD using a different one than XPE. I figure there should be some way to incorporate the XPE and UBCD boot options into one menu, but I cannot figure how. Any information on working tutorials or knowledge of this would be appreciated. P.S. the guide at msfn.org hasn't helped.
  9. That mobo is more specifically for gamers. Judging by your video card you won't be needing to spend the extra $$ on that mobo. The first mobo listed will be fine for a workstation. What is everyones beef with corsair? I have it in most of my pc's now and works great.
  10. Yes while i wait for the benchmarks, hopefully the price comes down....way down.
  11. I use a ton of different apps, a lot of them really task my CPU. I already know I will benefit from an X2, because my buddy runs dual processors and the difference is night and day. If the dual cores run the way they say they will, like a multi-processor system, then it would be worth buying one. I just didn't realize they were going to be this expensive off the bat. I may end up just getting a regular A64 or waiting longer until I see them come down in price. And why not base my reasons on AMD's sales pitch? They have never steered me wrong before.
  12. Yes i see that. Do all 939 boards support 754 socket?
  13. http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/Produc...5_13041,00.html That's why i'm getting an X2.
