  1. Wow, thanks for the fast replies... No, none of my other settings are on auto, I was just getting your initial impressions. I had it CAS 2 but recieved errors, so went to 3, but yes I will change it back. I will start testing from the example above. @tasr: thats what I was in the process of, finding the max of memory. I thought a good place to start was to put in on a divider and run it at 233 with FSB still 300. And lol I pretty much copied that guide word to word on paper so it would all sink in. Thanks for all the help, I'm going to try those settings right now, so I'll keep you posted.
  2. Hi, I'm new to the overclocking game and I'm having trouble. This is what I've done so far: Sempron 3100 @ a relatively stable OC to 2.7Ghz (300x9) on stock HSF (1.65v), on a DFI LanParty UT 250GB NF3. Upon settling with that I lowered the multi to 7x for 2100 Mhz. Now I can't even run my 1gb OCZ PC4000 VX at anything acceptable. Right now it generates 54 errors at 90-99% Test 5 in memtest. Worst of all, here are the settings: 166 (233mhz) at 3-4-3-8 2T @3.17v !!!! That is absolutely horrible. This is advertised at 250mhz, 2-2-2-5 with 3.3v. Now my mobo can't do 3.3, but 3.1 is close enough to not have my results. I was really hoping for at least 250mhz 1T without the tight timings advertised because of lack of voltage. And I would LOVE to hit 300mhz. So please help me, I would really appreciate it! Oh btw, what is some good ddr600 ram, and do 2gb ddr600 exist?
  3. Hi, thanks for the response. I wasn't really asking what to do, I was just wondering if thats normal to hit that ceiling so early. I've read many posts, especially about E6 Semprons, and they seem to go strong right from the beginning.
  4. I'm overclocking for the first time, and I'm running into problems early on. Now, I haven't changed anything other than the FSB, but I've been reading everything I can find about overclocking and have a general idea. The thing is though, I can only get to 215 with my E6 sempron before I see random restarts and crashing...and at 214 everything appears okay but I fail OCCT within 4 minutes because of CPU errors. I know there are alot of things I have to change, but I thought I could hit higher than that by just upping the FSB. Please comment and give opinions. Thanks.
  5. arechts12: I'm in the process of trying the things in your link thanks! the.student: I'm not opposed to a fresh install, but I've had to do it so many times in the past few weeks (hardware changes, etc) I'll probably just try a pci card, but tell me your method, I might take a shot at it...thanks
  6. Thanks for the replies! e268, I really do not believe it to be the router, its worked with WinXP Pro SP2 before, and I disconnected anyways to eliminate that possibility. The.Student, I did most of what you suggested before, but followed it exact this time. The network connections always says Network cable is unplugged, and ipconfig says Media State Disconnected, with no ip's (works though through USB). Restarts with no luck. I really do appreciate your help, I know alot of people have had this problem. My next question is, if I buy a PCI ethernet card, will it be slower than integrated LAN, because it communicates through the PCI bus?
  7. Hi Student, under device manager it showed Nvidia nForce Network Controller to be funtioning properly. I updated driver from Computer in device manager, to the latest drivers from DFI's website (5.10 I think). Unfortunately nothing has changed, and btw, its a DSL modem. Thanks
  8. Ok I just flashed the latest bios from DFI, still no luck... Please help a brutha out!
  9. Hi all, this is my first post. I've recently purchased an NF3 250gb and Sempron 3100, with hopes of overclocking a little. I've tried everything, but my Ethernet port is still not working. Here is what I've tried: Originally RAID 0, with the installer of Nforce Network controller saying "Error 1324: The path Apache 2 contains an invalid character." And after unsuccessfully modifiying the registry, I removed the array. Now the network controller installs, but it still shows a network cable unplugged, no lights on in back either, although the surrounding usb and firewire ports work fine. I then tried to enter the MAC(NV) addy from the AGP sticker, although there is only room for 12 characters (of 16) in the Genie Bios. And everytime I return to the Bios, it shows that the address is disabled, even though I saved and exited at least 4 times now. I also have the current chipset drivers installed, as the CD that was shipped with the MB was corrupted (dl'ed newest). I have not attempted to flash latest bios (for E6 stepping Semprons), because CPU-z is detecting the cpu so I assume it is the latest version. One other thing is weird, today, although fine now, upon booting I had no POST screen, no logo, only distorted blurring blue and white static lines the first time I turned my computer on this morning. I am currently connected to the internet through USB, which really seems much slower. Thanks in advance, I look forward to being apart of the community!!
