  1. Alright guys, i just tested out my 24hr cmos clear. it didnt work. so now im wondering whether or not i should be looking to blame the cpu or mobo. something along those lines
  2. do i need to take out the cpu as well for the 24 hr cmos clear?
  3. Its in the process of clearing....i removed all components and the 24pin connector and 4 pin connector and such. this week im gonna try my cpu in my friends comp to see if it even works. it looks fine, but im not sure. could the mobo possibly be to blame?
  4. use a hair dryer for what? warming up the thermal paste? and i didnt use as5, i just used w/e was on the bottom of the stock hs. for as5 the instructions are to drop a little dot in the center, rub the hs over to spread a little, then let it do the rest. should i take out all other components for the 24 hr reset besides my cpu? that way, if it gets to 3 leds i know itll work.
  5. alright, ill be sure to do the 24hr version of cmos clear. but i cant heat up the processor a whole bunch with a stress test or something like that because i still cant post at all. i really had to wedge that hs off, and there were big splotches of uncovered area with no thermal paste....i dont know if that is a big deal or not
  6. well i figured out why it was so hard to get the hs off...somehow, the thermal paste acted as glue (i think i got bad thermal paste) and once i had ripped the hs and processor (which were glued together) i could use no less force than a screwdriver wedged in between to get them apart. wow, ive never even heard of that happening before. so im pretty sure my cpu is shot but im gonna check it in case in another system to make sure its not my mobo. wow, i am definitely not gonna use anything but aftermarket hs or thermal past because of this. I dont think it overheated because i had automatic shutdowns and stuff set. does anyone think they might know what happened?
  7. yeah, i am almost positive the psu is alright......ill be sure to try my buddies rigs psu as well as my processor in there too if i could just figure out how to get the #@$! hs off....i dunno why its giving me such a hard time, just a stock amd. its driving me crazy
  8. alright heres what i have done so far taken out of case attempted boot with out gfx card attempted boot with each stick tried in every slot attempted boot with different psu im guessing that it is the cpu.....that would suck though i overclocked, but unless the temps that i got are incredibly innacurate, it shouldnt have fried or anything like that. you know about amds ocing warranty? because i know evga has one.
  9. and yes its got all 4 connectors in and such...its dual 12v rail so the ampage is split between them. its an ULTRA x-finity 600w
  10. do i need to do the 24 hr cmos clear or the 10 min? and i tried it earlier with my other psu and it still didnt work. before i got the new one, everything still sounded and looked like it was fully booted except those leds. i get the same result with this one
  11. Hey guys, i had a problem with 4 leds in the lower left corner of the mobo. i take it that this means that the processor has not been recognized. I posted on this problem before and the responses said to get a new psu since i was using a generic one. So i got my new psu today, which has plenty of juice, hook it up to my mobo for a basic boot, 1 gfx, 1 stick ram, etc. and the 4 leds are still there. HELP PLEASE!!! i was looking forward to using my comp this weekend but now i cant becaues this stupid psu didnt fix the problem....i dont know what to do
  12. I would consider your system stable. is the ocz warranty on all sticks? and are you running ddr400 or something else because i am skeptical that you'd be able to hit your fsb with a 1:1 with ddr400...
  13. Really depends....some people are comfortable with just 8 hrs whereas some ppl want 16+. Just loosen the timings a tiny bit...it wont give u much of a performance hit; try that first. how is the ram doin at 3.1v? i was too scared to pump mine up that high....is the ocz ddr400?
  14. So only the 4th led is on not the other 3? on my mobo i am having a problem with 4 leds and im waiting on my new psu to see if that solves it. did you try sata 3 and 4?
  15. Definitely reccomend....DFI is the best, and this forum will provide you with any help you need to get in no time at all. If you're thinking of getting a different board, dont. LP NF4 is the best
