  1. I have a Western Digital Caviar SE16, 16MB cache, SATA II 3.0Gbps, and it says it should run at 300MB/sec. However, I have it hooked up to the 3.0Gbps SATA controller on my board, and in HD Tach, its only 167MB/sec. Any ideas why its only running about half of what it should? Thanks
  2. I used Angry's ram settings for my ram and it definitly fixed it. Runs so fast now, awesome ram, awesome motherboard, glad I went with DFI. Thanks a lot everyone.
  3. RLM: I know it might be a lot to ask, but I am almost close to sending my ram back. Is there any way you can go into your Genie BIOS settings and go to DRAM and give me your settings? I haven't been able to get anything to work, and since you got yours working, I was wondering if you could just give me your settings so I can see if they work with mine. If they don't, I would definitly guess the ram is bad since we have the same exact motherboard and memory. If you could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks very much. -Todd
  4. I am running them at 2.8V (what corsair recommended), and I have tried 2.6, and 2.7. Nothing works Also, no I haven't tried another manufacturer, but like I previously said, my old Corsair work fine in it
  5. I have two sticks of CMX1024-3500LLPRO ram that came in the TWINX2048-3500LLPRO package (XMS3502v1.3). I was getting some serious crashing within my games, so I took one stick out, and it all stopped. I thought hey, my other stick is bad, so then I switched them. Oddly enough, crashing still was no more. I put the other one back in, running dual channel (slots 2 + 4 - the orange ones) and it started crashing again. I ran memtest for 10 hours and it gave me lots of errors. It specifically failed on Test 7, so the next day I took out one stick of ram, ran memtest for about 12hours, and it gave no errors. Then, I switched the ram, ran memtest for about 10-11hours, and got no errors. So then I tried switching them into slots 1 + 3 - yellow, and I still got errors. So basically, running in dual channel, I get memtest errors and crashing, but EACH of the sticks run fine seperately. The fact that each of them work seperately makes me wonder if the ram is bad or not. I am running the ram at stock settings and have even bumped it down a little. It was running at CAS2 and i tried 2.5 and even 3.0, and it didn't help me at all. I tried calling Corsair and running their settings, didn't work, and I tried using Angry's settings, and I still got crashing. To be specific, the crashing including BSOD and freezing. Before this, I was running the CMX512-3200 series ram, 512MB each in dual channel, totalling to 1GB. These were running in orange slots, and they worked fine and still do. Kind of weird because now I am thinking maybe it isn't the motherboard, but at same time thinking it isn't ram. Very confused. I am running Windows XP Professional SP2 32-bit with an Nvidia 7800GT Forceware version 84.21. How can I tell if it is the ram or the motherboard? Cannot figure it out for the life of me. Thanks!
  6. Well no matter how many times i run the memtest, or for what period of length, it never throws any errors when i put them in seperatly. But together, it always throws errors, on test 7 namely, in slots 2 + 4 or 1 + 2. I am confused to what the problem exactly is. As for the opteron guy, that fix isn't exactly for my problem, but thanks for the input.
  7. I ran the test for 8hours on slots 1 and 3, and got 12 errors, then ran on 2 and 4 for about 10hours, then got 3 errors. So ram is DEFINITLY bad? Thanks!
  8. I installed some new ram in my pc, and games/movies kept crashing within 10mins of loading. This was Corsair XMS PC3500LL Pro series (2x1GB) ram. They were in slots 1 and 3, and I ran memtest and got a crapload of errors. Then I switched them to slots 2 and 4 and got very few errors, and I no longer get ANY crashes, but every 1-2hours, my movies or games studder/freeze for about 2 secs, the sound makes weird noises, then comes back. Since its not too horribily frequent, I do not mind it so much, but would like to know why. The ram runs memtest fine with each stick seperatly, but together gets minimal errors. I am using Corsairs settings they said over the phone, and they said it is most likely the motherboard. I personally think their ram doesn't run perfectly at CAS2 like they say it does, and they are bs'ing their timings, since I have had no problems with this motherboard, and was using Corsair ram prior to this. Any help? Although it is CAS2 ram im going to try running it at CAS2.5, even though that is the whole reason I ordered this expensive ram. I'll see where it gets me. Thanks (all specs are up to date in my profile except for the new ram and im running xp pro 32-bit SP2 now)
  9. When my pc boots up, when it posts it says that my raptor is running on serial ata 1 but ATA 133. I thought it was a 150? Why the 133? Thanks
  10. I contacted Corsair directly and they told me the correct timings/voltage to run. They also confirmed (with memtest) that neither of the ram modules are bad and that is has something to do with the motherboard, and said to definitly try them in slots 2 and 4 because they have had prior complaints on the DFI boards that 1,3 dont work properly and 2 and 4 do. Never had problems running my old ram on 2 and 4 but they were shorter so they fit fine on slot 4. Guess I gotta take cooler off what a pain in the butt. Just curious why 1 and 3 dont work properly. Is there some special settings or something, or just manufactured improperly? Also, anyone have the thermalright xp running on the expert board? If so, will the ram fit in there, because maybe I will just buy a new HSF if thats what it takes. Thanks
  11. The ram runs fine by themselves, no errors in memtest and they do what they should do without any hiccups. Together in slots 1 and 3 they get errors. I have heard on here to always put them in the orange slots, 2 and 4. Are slots 1 and 3 defective or something? What is wrong with them? I cannot put them in 2 and 4 because the HSF is so big it takes up slot4 so i cannot fit the ram in there. Any suggestions?
  12. I have had 1GB (2x512MB) of Corsair PC 3200 XMS series ram. It has run great forever and always passed memtest. Now I upgraded to 2GB (2x1GB) of Corsair PC 3500LL Pro series ram. After installing it, I was playing various games and my pc kept crashing. So this morning before I went to school, I ran memtest, then when I came home it said it has 20 errors. It came as a 2GB kit, so 1) is it most definitly bad? and 2) if it is, should i send back teh entire kit? Thanks
  13. Hi, I am currently looking at 2 different models of 2x1GB ram made by corsair. the first one is CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 2-3-3-6 @ 2.75V http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145575 $197 (after $40 mail in rebate) CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3500 2-3-2-6 @ 2.75V http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145594 $308 The second, more expensive ram, will be in stock tomorrow, and I am considering that one. My question is, from the first to the second ram, what is going to be majorly increased. Obviously the speed is 3500 instead of 3200, but is it really worth it? I am going all out on my pc, and I really dont care about the money, its only $100 difference so is it going to be different enough to matter? I am not much of an overclocker, yet, but I did buy good cooling and the DFI board for potential overclocking down the road. Will this better my chances? Thanks for your opinions!
  14. NEOAethyr (and anyone else having the problem with 3dmark 06 not starting up) this is the fix for your 3d mark 06 problem Go to start, run, type services.msc go down to Windows Management Instrumentation. Right click it, go to properties. Make sure the startup type is automatic, not manual or disabled. Then click start, then click ok. Re-run 3dmark 06. This will fix the error. Good luck
  15. Ok, I have some questions about FSB. I know that my FSB can run at 400Mhz on dual channel. Now, how come #1 the cpu states it has a 2Ghz FSB? Secondly, in the genie bios settings, it says i can go up to 500FSB. Whats the connection between ram and cpu on this setting? Is it helpful/safe? Thirdly, i searched the forums for a good overclocking thread and cant seem to find one, i thought i saw one for nf4 but cant find it anymore. Anyone know of a thread like this? My cpu is currently at 1.344V. Will increasing the voltage decrease the longevity? Or only after a certain voltage does it do that? Thanks very much
