  1. Bought a Gigabyte Aorus Ultimate Z370, i5 8600k , and some Gskill DDR4 16g. Goes together tomorrow.
  2. Nice effort and nice result! You do good work!
  3. I am looking for opinions from people who have had hardware problems with their builds. Should be common enough. My problem, is that my computer is dead as a door nail. I hit the switch and get nothing. Yes the Mobo lights for the onboard power button and the overclock button are lighting up. Beyond that I get nothing. Lucky I have a second computer with a good power supply. I tried installing the new power supply and NOTHING again. Same thing. Onboard power button and OC button light up but that's it. Rig in Sig. I am guessing its the motherboard as I have replaced MOBOs in the past with similar problems. Just looking for opinions please, thank you.
  4. Interesting mouse, thanks for the heads up.
  5. Ok, thanks everyone for the input. I have used OEM OS installs in the past with no problems but you know how they seem to keep trying to walk us into some kind of usage corner. They want control of everything. Games don't even belong to us anymore. We just pay to play. Anyway, thanks again.
  6. Thanks for the replies Overclockers, I apologize for my less than stellar attitude on that day. I had lost a chunk of dollars on Wall Street and was a little pissy. Sorry about it. In regard to the answers and contributions, I thank you Wev and llxNullxll. Wev, your support is always welcomed and thorough as always. You are the best of the best. IlxNullxll, I finally decided to purchase a two-port, ZyXEL brand, 1000mbps Powerline adapter. I was lucky enough to find a guy that had experience with this equipment. He told me he was currently using it very satisfactorily. He was getting almost 200mbps because the plugs were on the same wiring in the house. He said that you can expect about a 50% reduction in that performance if the lines have to route thru the fuse box. In any case, this should be enough of a Pipe for my Nephews needs, streaming movies or YouTube, some multiplayer, coop gaming and websurfing. No major uploads or downloads. Thanks again Gentlemen.
  7. Hello Overclockers, I bought this OEM version of Win 10 Home as I am building a new box for my nephew. I have ever and always used the OEM version of Windows OS vs Retail for the last 20 years. Upon reading the package, before opening, I noticed they are very officious in their wording of OEM and "OEM Pre-Installation Tools". I cant seem to remember if this was the case in previous versions as well. I just want to install and be done with it. If he has any problems or questions I can surely be of assistance to him. This disc is just a generic regular install like all the rest, correct? I don't need any fancy OEM pre-installation tools. Right? Oh, I have recently installed Win 10 Pro on my own personal computer. I am familiar with how easy it really is. I just want to be sure about the Pre-Install jargon they use on the package. Thanks in Advance for any and all contributions. Harry
  8. @OP, wow I just bought one of these PB328Q too! I absolutely freakin love it. I pushing it with two 970s at the moment. Your sentiments about it are exactly mine. I just cant wrap my head/eyes around the curvy screens and they are only 1080 anyway. I love the big screen. You can get a EVGA GTX1070 for about 377 right now. That's not bad man. Good Luck with your final decision.
  9. That is truly amazing. I use these kind of batteries in my hobby where performance to weight is critical. Thanks.
  10. 88 views and not one response. Oh well. I got it figured out anyway. AV1200 Gigabit passthrough powerline modules. The amazing things they come up with these days. thanks for nothing.
  11. @Dynamic, Wow, Hi, yeah, Well thanks for the opinion on the M.2, but I am footing the bill on this one. If after he has this system for awhile and wants to make that kind of step up in performance, he can pay for it. I see the pricing has come down on the M.2 Memory, but not enough yet for me on my own personal level. Thanks, I enjoyed doing a little web cruise on M.2 Memory. I only got him this level mobo because he can add another 1070 on the price drop when the new models arrive if he chose to. Lots of options to choose from, definitely.
  12. My nephew called me and is very frustrated with his current situation. He has some old office box from like ten years ago with a wifi connection. He cant get it to run well for him and is breaking up his bedroom out of frustration. Since he is now able to collect disability, he finally has a few bucks comming in every month. He was born with only one kidney that was fuctioning at some rediculously low level. He got a transplant as a boy but has never been able to lead a normal life. Now finally at age 26 he has started collecting disability. He does like video gaming and has some Xbox version, but its not the latest one. Anyway, I agreed to help him out and he will donate what he can afford and my wife and I will donate the rest. He will be shocked at the capabilities of his new system. This is what I have worked up for him at a cost of just under $1500 for the box only, as he has peripherals and I have extras of most everything he could need in that area anyway. For instance, I like MSI and this board seems to have everything I want at $149 on Amazon. Ima Prime Member. If I can get the same feature set in another board manufacturer for around the same pricing, I would be willing to have a look. Ram it seems to me, at least in my opinion, is what you like. I am not for splitting hairs in ram performance one brand over another but if someone can point out to me a better value at similar performance ratings, I would be open to that. Suggestions or just opinions is ok with me. No AMD please, I haven't owned an AMD chip since the K8 Venice and have never owned an AMD video card.
  13. Hi Hello, I have managed up to this point to be lucky enough to ignore all the ins-and-outs of Wifi for the last 10 or so years. I'm an Ethernet guy and proud of it. I know how wifi works. I know that it has grown to become rather sophisticated in usage with all the security safe guards and usage partitions now available in the software. Which again, I have been lucky enough to ignore to this point. But this isn't about me today. I am building a new Rig for my nephew. He is 26 and lives at home as he is disabled from being born without kidneys. His family has a Spectrum Wifi ISP with a F@st 5260 Router. I have checked the specs for this unit and it seems to be adequate enough for the family. It is the current Spectrum router and will get the job done. We don't have much choice anyway. It is what it is. On the Rig he is using, which is a horrible little thing from some office wholesale purchase ten years ago, he has a usb wifi receiver. Since I am building him a new rig, I want to make sure he isn't "bottlenecked" by the wifi. Router is in the living room, His Rig is in the bedroom, travels thru one wall, maybe 25 feet distance. New rig I5 7600k, gtx1070, 16g ram, using MSI Z270 Gaming Pro mobo. The mobo has Sli that he can upgrade another card down the road but doesn't have built in Wifi, so I will be using a USB Wifi connection. I want to Optimize his connection best I can. I have questions. I have questions I haven't even thought of yet. First off, I plan to do some co-op gaming with him. Wi-Fi will be adequate for that these days? I have no idea the efficiency advancements since wifi became the go to avenue for families everywhere. Is the performance drop-off between Ethernet and wifi even a real issue for gaming anymore? We are not professional gamers with high stakes on the line. (laugh) We do want to optimize for the situation we have to work with. I need suggestions for a USB Wifi Receiver. Are they all basically in the same performance envelope? I do understand I can get a lengthy wire and move the antenna to a better position which we might do. So that is my situation. I am looking for suggestions as I am sure this is a very, very common scenario for many PC users. I think an Ethernet option is out of the question for him as we would have to run the cable about 25 feet from router to bedroom and under the carpet at one point. Just too much hassle and possibly too long a cable. Please give me suggestions for solutions. Help me, help him.
  14. Thanks for that. It would pay to keep an eye on this news to see what new developments and remedies occur.
  15. They are already talking about too little, too late, on this subject. It took them 11 years to get to this. IMO, the free service is what helped build them and the user base. Paying to play for some seems a reach.
