AIO cpu cooler to fit in an Antec 900

26 April 2017 - 12:17 PM

Hello.  I need a much better cooler for my new rig.  For the first time, I'm going to go water, and I'm curious what my options are for the Antec 900 case.  I plan to keep the cooler for as long as possible so I want a good one and willing to spend up to about 130 usd at the most.  Doing some research, I really like the results from the Thermaltake 3.0 but I'm not sure if it will fit in my case.

Finally upgraded entire system

10 April 2017 - 12:18 PM

So the 8 year old system in my sig is officially retired. I'm ready to play some newer titles that I know it just wouldn't handle. I upgraded the video card probably 4 times, and the cpu once. But the cpu can't be upgraded any more and it's even holding back my video card at this point.I wanted to do this several months ago but I wanted to see what AMD had to offer. And after enough reviews, I'm happy with them, so I went to microcenter and bought the AMD 1700, 16gb of the fastest ram in stock, Asus ROG motherboard, 960 evo M.2, and windows 10. I'll still use the AMD 390 video card I already had.

It's a pretty big jump from the core 2 quad to this new 16 thread monster. And sata 2 to M.2!

I literally changed 2 or 3 settings to get the cpu to 4ghz, and another 2 or 3 to get the ram to it's stock settings (3200mhz). I only ran a couple stress tests and a quick benchmark so far but everything seems fine. Temperatures are fine and I didn't even change the cpu volts from auto. I don't know how I feel about this. It seems too easy any more! I know I could probably spend days changing a ton more settings to get that last percent of performance out of it. But it's just weird to me how easy it is any more to get at least, most of the extra out of it.

So tonight I download mafia 3 and maybe a couple others.

Some suggest a good wireless keyboard and mouse

15 December 2016 - 05:37 PM

Hi.  I want to be able to sit at my couch and control the computer that is about 6 or 8 feet away.  I don't plan to do any serious gaming while like this.  When I game, I will use the wired keyboard and mouse.  But when I'm just browsing the net or whatever, I'd like to control wirelessly from further away.  I was wondering what technology is the best now, as I don't want to have to move around or hit buttons multiple times for it to see it.  Is it Bluetooth, IR, or RF?  And if someone has a good keyboard mouse combo to suggest?  The keyboard being backlit might be good as sometimes I work in the dark but maybe not needed.

current resolution?

curious what your current pc gaming resolution is.  I know 1080p is still the most popular but just curious how many have taken the 4k plunge yet
