what is a good temp for it? i'm getting 87c with stock cooler, while gaming

a friend of mine is now looking for the best price for the parts, i haven't purchased yet, but still now the config is: Pentium4 3.2ghz HT Asus P4C800 deluxe Samsung DDR400 2x512mb Athlon Xp 3.2+ Asus A7N8X deluxe Samsung DDR400 2x512mb i couldn't yet choose between gf5950fx and radeon 9800pro(same price here), both 256mb, coz captor's comments and my good experience always with nvidia makes it dificult to me to choose the radeon. I've seen some tests, including the new half life, and in performance i must say that radeon rules it, which one may i choose? The pentium setup is really better than the amd?

Here's the deal. I'm not using my home computer for a long date, and i'm not researching nothing about new hardware since my system(the one on the sig) still was a good one(like i was on mars). I need some recomendations for an average to good and other for a close to top system. I'm pretending to change memory, cpu, motherboard and video card. What is the best processor today intel or amd? Which is the best mobo/cpu/memory for overclocking? And for video cards?
