3800+x2 (Toledo) Hot or not?
spdinny replied to jaww^'s topic in Processors, Motherboards and Memory
Besides the cooler in my sig, I've got 120 front intake, 120 rear exhaust, 2x90 side intakes & 2x90 top blow holes: My temps in OCCT go from 33 to 44. Oc'd @ 290x10. -
Thanks Tony. I changed the divider on the ram & lossened the timings to 2.5-4-8-4. got it to 305 but windows crashed. Backed it off to 295x10 1.4 +110% on vcore. Running 32 idle 52 maxed. I may play some more but for now I'm happy. Again thanks for the memory timings.

Hey Tony, I've got the identical chip & hit a brick wall @ 2.4. My rig is in my sig & I replaced the 3700 Sandy with this toledo. Can you post the timings on your ram?

Antec neo 550w HE concerns
spdinny replied to spdinny's topic in Processors, Motherboards and Memory
Thanks. I think i will get a DMM, just a little uneasy with the history of these Antec's. -
David I noticed you've added this to recommended PS & personally tested by H-G. I have a rev A4 seriel no. S0605. With a minimum build in my sig i have concerns with the 12v rail. biois = 11.91 speedfan = 11.90 aida32 = 11.90 mbm 5 = 11.91 sandra = 11.92 I don't have a DMM to test the rail, but am getting pretty consistent readings from all of the above. I want to go to dual channel memory and have: cd -rd/wr dvd rd/wr hplaserjet 4l lpt1 epson ecx785 photo printer usb cnaon scanner usb web cam usb v-stream vidio capture card gf4 7900gs pci-e Should I be concerned with the 12v readings??

NF4 Expert will not cold boot- psu issue?
spdinny replied to scottR's topic in Processors, Motherboards and Memory
Thanks Frenchie: The picture helped, I'm still a little confused. The "extension wire" is a spare "hdd led" from an old p.c. The "power switch" is from the case. i can't see the .22 capacitor What is connecting them in the picture, It looks like a female molex connector? -

I would love to see a picture of this fix or a link to a picture -
tasr good morning. followed the cmos clear to the letter. no go. read the red warning about antec, has this been updated? also under "What Dave would buy" there are 2 antec ps under class 3 which are rated lower than the one i'm using. I'll try replacing the ps today. if that doesn't work i'm going to rma the board to newegg.

ps. the paper clip works with the power

I've got an enrmax ev-365 and an echo-star 680 but there only 20 pins. I've got a 20 to 24 pin coverter, maybe i'll try them in the a.m. if the clear cmos fails. the antec is only 2 days old from compusa, not a big selection but close by. do you think i'd have better luck with the antec smart power 500? It's the only brand name in stock.

kingfisher: yes the power switch is off & the cord was pulled. tasr: Yea its modular & i'm only using one cable now. moved it to a differnnt block no difference. I put the old pci card back in no difference. RMA? the MB or PS

This is my 1st build using a DFI MB, I've built over 25 systems using abit, asus, msi, &gigabyte ALL AMD's. I've been reading the threads on this board for a couple of weeks and decided to give DFI a try. Here's where I'm at: 1. the board is NOT in a case but on my bench 2. I loaded 1 stick memory (orange slot closest to the edge) 3. removed the thermal pad & applied as5 4. installed cpu & heatsink, hooked up all 4 power connectors 5. booted, went into bios loaded optimized defaults. 6. installed an old pci card 7. booted ok. 8. hooked up floppy ran memtest86 for 4 hours from floppy. 9. removed pci vid card 10. installed gf4 7900gs booted ok. 11. ready to install OS, hooked up cd & sata drive. 12. NO BOOT. NO BEEPS. NO RED LIGHTS. I've cleared cmos short way, long way(8 hours) removed everything but cpu & memory No Post, No fans, No Beeps, Nada. I see the antec is not in the recommed power supply list, but more than 17% of the users posted are using the antec brand of lesser quality. I'm about to RMA this back to the EGG, I'll try the overnight cmos clear but doubt it will change anything. If anyone has any suggestions, other than to let it sit overnight I'd appreciate it.
