  1. Peace Island is set to launch on PC, Mac, and Oculus VR system next year. I expect this to be my favorite game ever. IT HAS CATS!! This non-combat game focuses instead on exploration, discovery, and solving mysteries. It’s description says it's “a mix of science fiction, alternative history, and mystery.” The premise of the game is quite unique; the player is a cat on an island, and he wakes up to find his human is gone. “Are humans worth bringing back?”  I cannot wait for this game to launch! It sounds like the perfect game. I know cats aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but those sad people don’t have to play this game anyways. Looks like I’ll be on the edge of my seat for the next 14 months! You can also support their Patreon here. Source: Gamebyte Twitter Back to original news post
  2. With Mod 17 just launching on the Preview Test Server, Neverwinter developers took player submission and streamed the answers on Twitch. The developers covered topics about the upcoming mod, which launches August 13, 2019. This is more like a “B Module,” which means it’s focused on expanding the content from the previous mod, including an Epic Trial. It’s mostly quality of life updates, like a new PVP map, fashion overhaul, and new race. There will NOT be a free reroll token for the new race. The devs want us players to start a new character and see all the changes to the opening quests. It’s expected, but it’s still a bummer. However, the Promissory Notes from the River District will be redeemable soon, so hold onto them! I just hope they don’t give us something stupid, like AD coupons or a bit of copper.  Julia said that the new fashion system was a little complex, but I disagree. It’s pretty straight forward. Some people struggle learning new systems, so I understand it being a problem for some. Overall though, it’s pretty intuitive. And the best news? We can dye our weapons! August 29th is the next Tales of Old event. The dungeon will be Dreadvault! I personally have never run it before, but a lot of excitement seems to be buzzing from the long-time players.  The new Epic Trial will be the Tower of the Mad Mage. This trial is supposed to be very difficult; expect to die. Technically it is possible to beat the trial without anyone dying, but it’s no easy task. I’m okay with that. Dying is a part of life.  The Stream obviously has more stuff included, but these are the highlights. Overall it seems like a decent mod. They aren’t changing too much, so hopefully there won’t be too many bugs on launch. Happy hunting! Back to original news post
  3. Launching August 13, 2019 Neverwinter Online will launch its newest expansion: Uprising. We will FINALLY get to defeat Halaster Blackcloak in a 10-man Trial. We’ll also get a new playable race, Gith. Some “Quality of Life” changes will be happening as well, including a fashion overhaul and improving early game zones and stories. Gith are an interesting race to be added to Neverwinter, but it makes sense given the new Mind Flayer enemies. The Gith are a race of people enslaved by Mind Flayers. Some suspect they were descended from humans, but most of their origin is a mystery. Skin tones range from pale yellow to green or brown, and hair is typically black or red. Gith are recognized by their unique facial features, including long angular skulls, deep-set eyes, flat noses, and pointy ears.  There’s not much information published about the QoL updates yet. I’m hoping for more options in perhaps creating our own fashion items though. Fashion is the real endgame! As for the reworked beginner areas, I’m not really holding my breath. I’m sure that after a period of tweaks and bug fixing, the areas will be better than they are now. I hope they address the over-leveling. Even on my first toon 3.5 years ago, I skipped entire areas. I haven’t played areas like Helm’s Hold or Vellosk. This rework is definitely needed, and I am optimistic about the improvements.  Source: Arc Games Back to original news post
  4. The Undermountain module has created quite the stir among Neverwinter players. With all the big changes being announced, this mod has had more players on the test preview server than ever before. But the wait won’t be long! On April 23rd, be prepared for a whole new version of Neverwinter! I would like to talk about preview for a bit. A lot of players have logged into preview, been frustrated with what they’ve seen, and contemplated quitting the game. You should not quit the game based on what you see in the preview server. It will look better when it goes live, and the major bugs will (hopefully) be fixed. So, if you want to quit the game, at least wait until Undermountain goes live before making any decisions. After spending a bit of time on preview, I’ve come up with some prepping tips for the mod: Save all insignias you find. They will get more expensive, especially the green ones. They will be used to upgrade Epics to Legendary. If nothing else, you can make some money selling them. Save up companions too. In particular, I recommend holding on to Epics and Rares. I will be putting out a guide on which ones will be most useful when the mod gets closer to launch, but you’ll want a variety for the Bolster Bonus. Stop refining. You will need all the RP, marks, and wards you can get to upgrade the new level 80 artifact stuff. The only exception to this is if you plan to use a Coal Ward to upgrade a bonding runestone or weapon enchantment. Set aside some Gold. It’s a bit expensive to move enchantments over to your new gear. Build up your Astral Diamonds. You might need to buy a few things on the Auction House or Wondrous Bazaar. The day before the mod launches, try to cap your Seals of the Brave. You can exchange them 1:1 for Seals of the Crown, and you can use those seals to buy the new Level 80 Seal Armor. Hold on to any weapon or armor enchantments that fall into your lap. There will be an enchantment exchange vendor in Protectors Enclave by the Claims Agent. The same goes for any high-level enchantments. Keep chasing boons. The boon points will be transferable to your new character sheet. The current BiS hunt armor is still worth chasing, chiefly the gear with a % damage bonus. You shouldn’t need to switch out your armor until you reach level 80. I cannot wait for this mod to go live! Sure, there’s a lot of changes coming to the character sheets and stuff, but the campaign is so awesome! I absolutely love the adorable Kuo-toa. I wish they were a playable race! What are you excited about in the new campaign? Source: Press Release Back to original news post
  5. This year’s Neverwinter Online: State of the Game livestream featured Thomas Foss (Lead Designer) and Julia Fredrickson (Community Manager). This annual stream covers the previous year’s progress, current issues, and plans for the game this year. How exciting! I just wanted to hit the highlights and cover the spoilers, since that’s what everyone was here for. They have a new system of hotfixes for tackling bugs, so I’m hoping this will repair them faster. Foss coined the nickname “Barbie” for the Barbarian. There are going to be 20 Dev blogs before the mod launches, including 1 blog for each class. Clerics and Paladins are in the first wave of class blogs. The biggest news of all, there WILL be a new Race or Class released sometimes this year, but it won’t be in Mod 16. I’m crossing my fingers for a Bard! There will also be brand new loot tables with Level 80 gear. This is fantastic. The current loot tables are pretty garbage. The new mod features several different new mobs, including an Umberhulk and a Butterfly Golem. That sounds interesting? I’m curious as to what they’ll look like for sure. Because with a name like Butterfly Golem, I’m expecting pretty wings on an Iron Golem that flies around and sneezes on me. Overall, some pretty interesting info about the next mod! What are you most excited for? I’m stuck between the new loot and the new mobs. Hopefully Mod16 will put Neverwinter back into a more balanced spot and become more challenging! 6. Be prepared for a new module in Neverwinter Online: Undermountain! But this mod includes more than just a new campaign. This update will feature major changes to everything we know, including: level cap increase, Item Level and scaling overhauls, new stats and mechanics, and a complete rework of all Classes. New Campaign The new campaign “Undermountain” is set in Waterdeep. It features a new endgame dungeon in the dungeon beneath Waterdeep, home of the Mad Mage Halaster Blackcloak. In addition to new adventuring zones, this mod includes a new player hub, the Yawning Portal. Overall, it sounds like an exciting campaign! Level Cap Increase Launching in this module is a new Level Cap increase! Players will now be able to reach up to Level 80. This will include new gear and powers; each class will get one new Daily, Encounter, and At-Will. You can read the details here. Item Level and Scaling Item Level and Scaling will also be reworked in this mod. Right now, Item Level is very inconsistent. There will be a new standard: One Item Level = 20 Rating Points. There are a few exceptions like Bonding Runestones, Companions, and Mount Powers. This will be uniquely adjusted to be more accurate. With this new Item Level standardization, scaling will become more accurate as well. This means that lower leveled dungeons should pose a greater challenge. You can learn about the specifics here. I hope this makes them more interesting to run! Stats and Mechanics Stats are getting a MAJOR rework. The most shocking changes are the removal of: Armor Class AoE Resist DoT Resist Lifesteal Regeneration Recovery The removal of these stats will have a major impact on all classes, especially Lifesteal. This removes the current main source of healing, so support classes are going to be extremely changed in their function. Right now support classes primarily focus on buffs and support damage; tanking and healing are incidental. With the removal of Lifesteal, support classes are going to be forced into doing their original intended purpose: Healers healing and Tanks tanking. Personally, I think this is grand. There are also going to be Opposing Rolls now. We already have this implemented with Armor Penetration and Defense. The new main stats are going to be: Hit Points and Power Critical Strike and Critical Avoidance Combat Advantage Bonus and Awareness Deflect and Accuracy Armor Penetration and Defense Utility Ratings: Ap Gain Recharge Speed Stamina Gain Critical Severity Control Bonus Control Resist Movement Gold Gain Glory Gain XP Gain Companion Influence Incoming Healing Regen is getting removed as a stat, but all players will now have a set amount, so it’ll be nice to not have to worry about having it on newer characters. Another set stat will be Critical Chance; everyone will have a baseline of 5%, which will be added to whatever Crit you stack. The cap on Critical Chance is 50%, so that’s kind of a bummer. Deflect also has a cap of 50%, and Combat Advantage Bonus has a cap of 100%. Classes All classes are getting a name change to become more consistent with 5th Ed. D&D. These new names include: Cleric Fighter Paladin Ranger Rogue Warlock Barbarian The Barbarian is still a GWF, just a nice new name to make it fit with 5E; abilities and powers will remain the same. Right now, each class has a choice of two Paragons and 3 Feat Trees. The Feat Tree choices are gone! Now it will be focused on the two paragons, with each one featuring your choice of one each in five pairs of feats. The idea is to eliminate all the useless feats and focus on specialized play. The goal is to have all versions of the Classes become viable. Like the Paladin, most classes will also be able to fulfill more than one role with queueing for Dungeons, depending on their Paragon. These include: Paladin - Tank, Healer Cleric - Healer, DPS Fighter - Tank, DPS Barbarian - Tank, DPS Warlock - DPS, Healer Rangers, Rogues, and Wizards will all have two DPS paragons. Power Points are being removed as well. This way when a power becomes available as you level up, you can use it with full strength. Conclusion Overall, there are a LOT of changes coming in this mod. I am looking forward to it! Right now the game feels super unblanaced, so I'm hoping these changes make the game more interesting and fun to play. I just hope they aren't bugged when they launch (let's be honest here, new mods usually are buggy). I am excited to actually heal with my Cleric and Tank with my Fighter. I am concerned about the loss of Recovery though! Several of my characters have that stacked. I'm curious to see how this all works out in the end. I'm looking forward to testing this mod on the Preview Server! Sources: New Campaign - Arc Games 1 Stats and Mechanics - Arc Games 2 Classes Intro - Arc Games 3 Back to original news post
  7. Customers of CenturyLink experienced internet outages yesterday. However, these outages were not limited to internet. In some areas, like Washington state, 911 calls couldn’t connect. Callers would receive a busy signal. This started Thursday, December 27 at approximately 2AM. Some areas are still affected by the outages. Because of the severe, widespread, and lengthy 911 issues, the FCC has launched an investigation into CenturyLink. They issued the following statement: “When an emergency strikes, it’s critical that Americans are able to use 911 to reach those who can help. The CenturyLink service outage is therefore completely unacceptable, and its breadth and duration are particularly troubling. I’ve directed the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau to immediately launch an investigation into the cause and impact of this outage. This inquiry will include an examination of the effect that CenturyLink’s outage appears to have had on other providers’ 911 services. I have also spoken with CenturyLink to underscore the urgency of restoring service immediately. We will continue to monitor this situation closely to ensure that consumers’ access to 911 is restored as quickly as possible.” Sources: fcc.gov, KOMO News Back to original news post
  8. Don’t worry it was fixed on Monday. But two weeks ago, Venturebeat received a complaint in their tips line that from a guy that couldn't delete his Facebook account. The user had tried 4 different browsers, 2 different devices, Facebook Support, and was considering contacting a lawyer because he couldn’t delete his profile. None of these methods were successful. This user allowed Venturebeat to log into his account and try to get it to delete, but there was indeed a bug preventing it. Venturebeat contacted a Facebook spokesperson (since they are more inclined to listen to press than private users), and that got the ball rolling. The Facebook engineer got the bug fixed and patched in a couple days ago. Bottom line? If you need help getting a bug fixed on Facebook and tech support doesn’t work, reach out to the press. 9. On June 26, 2018, Neverwinter Online launched its Ravenloft module. This included a new spin on the Hunt mechanic that the developers have been fine tuning since the beginning of Chult last year. However, this new hunt system in Ravenloft had a huge exploit that went unchecked for quite some time. The exploit wasn’t fixed until the patch on August 29th. That’s two months of a patch going unchecked. Apparently, some players even reported the exploit while it was still on the preview server, so the developers were aware of the problem before it went live and waited until two months after to fix it. I feel like it’s important to explain the difference between a bug and an exploit. A bug is something that occurs without doing something different than you normally would while playing the game. For an example, this would include a certain Scourge Warlock power dealing extra damage in certain situations. An exploit is a situation where a player benefits from doing something they normally wouldn’t do and gain a benefit. For example, (and this isn’t real) if you were to jump three times on the bottom step right before battling the final boss of a dungeon, log out and back in, and you’d get a super buff. Exploits are bad, and they are bannable offenses according to the Terms of Service. This particular exploit is bad because it disrupts the game’s economy, thereby affecting the entire player base even if only a small percentage participated. The exploit in question allowed players to use Tarokka Cards on their hunts without consuming them. The most notable form of hunt exploitation allowed players to farm Astral Diamonds without consuming the poster or the card, effectively only costing them time. There wasn’t the Rough AD cap to slow players down, and without requiring any additional resources, this was an unlimited source of AD. Cryptic’s response was to issue a huge wave of bans. Unfortunately, this included many of their big streamers, which is why this ban wave has gotten so much attention on Neverwinter news reporting sites and social media. I can’t find any official sources to confirm how many accounts were banned, but it’s rumored that over 1,000 players were banned for using this exploit. It didn’t help that one of the top Neverwinter News sites explained how to do the bug either. I think this whole situation is bad, and everyone deserves a little blame. Cryptic should have fixed the bug before launching the module on the live server. NWO shouldn’t have explained how to do the bug. Last but not least, the players shouldn’t have used the bug, and I think they are ultimately responsible for their bans. Cheaters ruin games for everyone, and I think they got what they deserved. 10. During the month of September, Arc Games (owners of Neverwinter Online) will be upgrading their game servers. These upgrades require a lot of downtime for the games, so the Neverwinter developers have spaced it out through the month of September. Here is the schedule of downtime: Thursday Sept 6, 7-9am (all platforms) Tuesday Sept 11, 5-10am (all platforms) Thursday Sept 13, 5-10am (all platforms) Tuesday Sept 18, 7-9am (consoles) Tuesday Sept 25, 5am-2pm(PC), 7-9am(consoles) With this much time being dedicated to upgrading the servers, I’m hoping we see a major improvement in connectivity in Neverwinter. Now I just need to figure out what I’m going to do during the game’s downtime! Source: Arc Games Back to original news post
  11. The NW developers have been sending out tweets and making subtle changes in NWO’s Protector’s Enclave, teasing the players about the upcoming Mod 15. There’s been a lot of speculation that the next mod was going to be a Waterdeep module, but instead it’s a unique adventure. HoF is set to launch November 6, 2018. In their announcement, the devs said that it will include a new skirmish, a professions overhaul, a Beholder convention, and “more.” I think the professions overhaul is a welcome update for the players, as there aren’t many viable things to craft in professions right now. And I don’t know about anyone else, but there is nothing more satisfying than killing a beholder. I cannot wait for the Beholder convention! Overall this mod sounds super fun! 12. Battlefield V has the potential to be a great game. Unfortunately, there are a lot of things going on surrounding the game that might negatively impact the game’s sales. One problem for the game is that Patrick Söderlund is leaving EA; he was a prominent person in making Battlefield successful. Financial analysts also warn that Battlefield V pre-orders are “weak” when compared with similar games, like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 or Red Dead Redemption 2. However, the pre-orders are doing better than previously failed games like Titanfall 2. To combat these shortcomings from affecting a potentially awesome game, EA is launching some bonus content to pique the interest of gamers. This bonus content will include a free battle royale mode and a “Big Surprise.” We currently don’t have any information about this surprise. Open beta starts on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on September 6, 2018. EA Access subscribers can start open beta September 4. The game goes live on October 19, 2018. Anyone who pre-orders the Deluxe Edition will be able to play on October 16. Origin Access Premier members will have access on October 11,2018. So what do you think? Are you going to give the game a chance despite all the drama? Or are you setting your sights on CoD? Source: Wccftech Back to original news post
  13. A complaint was filed with the US District Court in Los Angeles by Michael Terpin against AT&T. Apparently their lax security allowed a thief to commit SIM fraud and they gained access to his personal information. This led to $24 million worth of cryptocurrency. According to Turpin, the hackers were able to update his SIM number to a card that the hackers controlled, giving them ample opportunity to access Turpin’s information and exploit it. Because this has happened two times to one person, it speaks to a pattern of negligent security on the part of AT&T. Personally I would have switched providers after that happened even once. These hackers were able to break through two-factor authentication processes on Turpin’s accounts. For the first hack, the thief used the stolen SIM to take over Turpin’s Skype account, and the hacker convinced a client to divert a crypto-payment into the hacker’s account. The second security breach happened when the thief visited an AT&T store in Connecticut and updated the SIM yet again, without providing the scannable ID AND passcode that Turpin added to his account after the first hack. In an official statement, AT&T said, “We dispute these allegations and look forward to presenting our case in court.” They must have something good up their sleeves, because these accusations are pretty serious if proven true. Either way, it makes me grateful I don’t use AT&T. Source: The Inquirer Back to original news post
  14. Today Cooler Master introduced their new case, the MasterBox MB530P. The goal of this case is to balance affordability and aesthetics. It has three tempered glass panels: one in the front, and one on each side. The bottom of the back panel features a honeycomb pattern to cover the open side of the power supply and cables. It also has three addressable RGB 120mm fans on the front, along with an ARGB power button. This button can be synced by connecting the ARGB cable on the front I/O to two to three splitter, which in included. You can control the lighting using motherboard software, or you can select a pre-set lighting mode attached to the reset button. This awesome case is certified compatible with ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, and ASRock motherboards. The MasterBox MB530P also has some sleek ventilation cutouts on the sides of the front panel, protected with a magnetic dust filter lining the top of the case. Two friction SSD mounts are placed behind the motherboard. The mounts are designed for easy installation - without having to use tools! Simply insert the rubber pegs (included) into the SSD and slide it into the mount. Two more SSD/HDD trays are located beneath the PSU shroud. All in all, this is a pretty cool case (haha, a pun!). The price isn’t bad either, starting at $109.99 USD on New Egg. It will be available on August 9, 2018. Source: Press Release Back to original news post
  15. The Official Neverwinter Online Twitter published an interesting tweet yesterday. It included a picture of a horse-drawn wagon in Protector’s Enclave and the phrase, “You think this might be the place?” This year the D&D Stream of Many Eyes introduced a new storyline, Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, to the 5E D&D universe. Neverwinter Online has followed suit in most of the modules they’ve launched so far. It stands to reason that if Tabletop is getting the Waterdeep expansion, so is Neverwinter Online. Neverwinter Uncensored has uncovered some game files that include “Fishing Powers.” A lot of players have NOT liked fishing in the past, even though it’s appeared in three different modules in three different styles. Based on the content of these files (and the fact that Waterdeep is a coastal city), it looks like it might be similar to the fishing style in Lonelywood, where the player character fishes from the shore. Neverwinter Uncensored also uncovered a photo of the Founder’s Pack for Mod 15, similar to what they uncovered for Mod 14/Ravenloft. This picture includes a new human companion, a month of VIP, two Coalescent Wards, three Blood Rubies, and a fashion set labeled “Patrician.” All in all, these findings bring up some interesting theories for Module 15. A new zone, fishing, and a founder’s pack are a lot to think about! Are you excited, concerned, or confused? I’m feeling a mixture. I love exploring new expansions on NWO (and the founder’s packs help). But I’m both concerned and confused that the developers are continuing to release modules with fishing, when it’s clearly unpopular with their player base. They’ve tried it three different ways already; it’s time to put the idea to rest. Source: Neverwinter Uncensored Back to original news post
