Well I got leopard up and running and have been messing around with it most of the day. Man it is totally worth 129 bucks. The new "stacks" feature is by far the most used by me, every app I have installed is just two clicks away. The new dock is also sexy as hell ( I have it positioned on the left side so its got a "smoke" style dock rather than the shiny shelf lookin thing. Have yet to have a single program crash or freeze. (Though that rarely happened in tiger) The networking with windows pcs also seems to be slightly faster than tiger. (And at LEAST a million times faster than in windows.) I love how macs network better with windows pcs than windows pcs network with them selves. If you guys haven't noticed, under the pcs listed on your local network if you look REALLY closely (or switch to coverflow) The windows pcs all have the BSOD on their icon What do the rest of you think? Kash Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 I love it. I agree, the new Dock and the Stacks feature is awesome. I really like Spaces as well (granted, I was using VirtueDesktops on Tiger, so multiple desktops is nothing new for me). What I really like about Spaces compared to VirtueDesktops is its integration with the OS. VirtueDesktops could get finicky at time, but Spaces is rock solid. And having it work with Expose was just pure genius! I like the networking features. It definitely seems to be a lot faster, especially with Windows computers. I also like how the networking glitches that plagued previous versions of OS X have been solved. There are a ton of other little things about Leopard that just make it worth the money I paid for it. Fortunately, all of my programs work just fine and like you, I have yet to experience any crashes. I also feel as though my machine is faster than it was under Tiger. This is surprising since I've gotten used to a system slowing down after upgrading to each new version of Windows, most especially Vista. Propane Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 I'm excited to try out leopard. There was a website floating around called the top 12 undocumented changes in leopard that sound really cool. The one that really struck me as awesome was that you can now scroll non focused windows without having to change focus. That will be really handy when writing a paper. Kash Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 You do know that you're just wasting system resources on AV software for the Mac, right? All those programs do is clean your system of Windows viruses so that you don't pass them on. Since there are no Mac viruses, they're useless if there ever was one as you would be infected before you could patch your AV program.
