The VX series supplies continue the same aesthetic, which would seem to suggest Corsair has continued to use Seasonic as its manufacturing partner. The new PSUs are aimed more at the mainstream buyer and come in with 450W and 550W ratings and Corsair is claiming these units are highly efficient and ultra-quiet. Also of note is the fact that the design moves away from the popular multi-rail format and simply provides a single 12v rail rated at 33A for the 450W version and 41A for the 550W version. There is often confusion surrounding multi-rail designs so a single 12v rail may cause less headaches for consumers.
Both PSUs provide 6 SATA and 6 Molex connectors along with 20/24pin ATX and 4/8pin ATX12v/EPS for motherboard power. The 450W features a single 6pin PCI-E connector and the 550W adds another 6+2pin connector to this for multiple GPU compatibility. There are also two floppy style power connectors. Unlike the HX series, the VX series doesn't use a modular cable design.
The two models should be available as of now at retailers worldwide for recommended prices of $85.99 USD and $99.99 USD respectively.
