good job buick! Nice clocks!

I am getting really stressed out with this 4400+! Temps went out of whack again when I accidentally pushed my heatsink a little when I put my x1950pro into the rig, so I see the temps sear up into the 52-55C spectrum at 2.7GHz, so I went and backed her down to 2.4 (140x10), temps from 44-46C with dual folding. This was really getting on my nerves, so I reaplied AS5 like I never done it before, used Q-tips to rub over the de-IHSed CPU, and let it dry for like 2 hours. Then smudged the AS5 over the core, like you're supposed to, with a plastic bag, so you get one flat layer. I heard from some people that was supposed to be better... I dunno, i just wanted a higher overclock at better temps

Moved everything back to where it was, boot up... say a loud WHAT THE *censored* to myself, temps are fubared again... This time a little differently, I had problems before with core #0 being higher than core#1, now its the other way around... differences from 1-3C constantly, its so weird... right now, dual folding, its 39°Ccore #0, 40°C core#1, clocked at 240x10 with the window open... I think I might have to grab a sweater anytime soon.

Am I missing something? Could I have lapped my SI-120 so that is it not straight (as in more pressure on one core, less on the other)? It can't be the mounting bracket, I filed that down so its perfectly flat, meaning no higher stand-offs on one side than on the other...

Anyone got ideas?

[edit] ohh, found something from my old 3700+ KABYE 0540BPMW again! 3105 suicide!

if the bracket is perfect flat, the bracket would ROCK on my Ultra-D, it's not solid to the board because of perimeter socket components... that's one idea, solution: file out notches for clearance

the clips on the SI-120 look identical to the XP-120, and if they aren't all exerting equal force, you could have uneven pressure on the cpu... i seriously bent the clips when i stupidly tried to clip it over an IHS-intact cpu, with a lowered bracket... so i had to bend them all back so they were the same... that's another idea

you shouldn't be able to nudge or rock the bracket at ALL when it's clipped in... the mounting force should be so strong that it barely moves at all, let alone slide around and angle-up on one side... i'd adjust the tension of the leaf springs to give more pressure (ensuring equality over all)

another thing... i've only ever read one cpu temperature whether it be in bios, off smartguardian, or MBM... i think maybe you are reading cpu diode temp vs cpu socket temp or something because i've never seen separate core temps, or maybe i wasn't looking and didn't care?

did you try core temp? You should cause it gives VERY different temps than lets say Smartguardian or MBM.... right now at 2.4 still I have 41/44C in CoreTemp, and 37C in Smartguardian! If it was for the smartguardian temps, I would OC this baby a lot farther!

why do you go with CoreTemp rather than Smartguardian (which comes with the motherboard) or MBM (which had a custom config fileset written for DFI NF4)?

also... do you really care about the temps being 44°C load on a dual core on air? i know i wouldn't be bothered...

no, that was back at 2.4, now I clocked her to 300x9 = 2700MHz, and I get 47 on one core and 50 on the other. I really would like to go with Smartguardian... That would give me 38C dual load... nrg, what are you getting in core temp? Just to compare...
here ya go, screenshot:

HA, no way nrg! My E6400 is priming at 8x400 at home (3.2GHz), that will smoke that 170!

Honestly, I haven't even pushed it all the way at that voltage yet :). Maybe I'll get around to it later today. And I doubt it would come close to a C2D.

It's more of a memory test, but I have this screenshot of 280x10 @ 1.36v, 1:1, 3-4-4-8-1T 2.66v. DDR560, 1T, 33hrs OCCT.... I'm pretty happy with that :P

I realized I didn't have a phase 2 shot in here yet...
