I Need To Format/reinstal Windows

it time for spring cleaning but i dont have enough room to back up all my stuff is there a way to make a partitian(SP) on a currently used drive to use as a back up while you format the rest of it ? ive got like 40-50gigs of stuff i dont want to loose :P im a pack-rat

Yeah, you're going to have to get some sort of partition tool. I don't think theres a free one, so you'll probably have to spend some cash.

If you happend to have a DVD burner, a 80 gig backup takes around 5 dvd's with nero back up :)

I still like usign a partition manager, cpying files, and soon you end up with a HDD dedicated to stuff you need after formats/everyday useful DLed programs :D I use The Acronis DiskDirector Suite 9.0 but i think Paragon Partition manager has a free trial that will let you do what you need to do.

OK, what am I missing???  I thought a DVD only held 4.7 Gb of data???

Yeah, What's up with that? My math tells me that it would take ~17 DVD's

But even then it would still take over 10 DVD's
