Wireless Network Problem

I have a wireless network linksys and a wireless adaptor they used to work but now they quit. I set my ip to obtain automaticly but. everytime i set my network up again it changed it to a normal ip which wont work with networks. I set my network up but it dont work. I just got cable and im afraid to add my router and i think that when i do that my ip will get messed up and then cable wont work or something like that. Is my router going bad if so . then theres a problem because my router is farly new.

Might be bad. Try resetting the router. Hold in the button for 10 secs. Then install the software.
