For several months Intel has been making moves to bring its own discrete GPU to a reality, such as the hiring of Raja Koduri, the former head of Radeon Technologies Group. Such a move by the company to enter this market is of great interest to many, if only to see a disruption to the currently duopoly between AMD and NVIDIA. Now we have a little more information on Intel's efforts via a 'We will set our graphics free' tweet from @IntelGraphics, including a teaser video. The video makes several claims about the successes of the Intel GPUs built into many of their CPUs, and then ends with a silhouette of something resembling a graphics card that is stated as coming in 2020.

Previously there were rumors putting the reveal of an Intel dGPU at CES 2019, and perhaps this will still be true, but as only a paper reveal and/or only professional parts, not consumer parts. Undoubtedly Intel's interest in entering the GPU market is also to produce and sell them for use in data centers and for machine learning applications. Hopefully whatever they produce will also be able to game well.
