Today Steam began its Summer Sale for the year, which runs until July 5 and in addition to the myriad sales it is also giving gamers a chance to win games through the Saliens game. The Saliens game lets you create your own Salien and then take it to a planet to defend your Deal-tection Station so it can locate games. The different planets reward different games, if you are lucky enough to get one, and it is possible to enter to win games from multiple planets, but the time you spend on a planet impacts your chances.
Also started recently on Steam are Developer and Publisher Homepages, something I am personally happy to see. These pages feature the games from the relevant developer or publisher and by following them you get notified of new releases and deals show up in your recommendations.
Among the developers and publishers is Stardock, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary but if you missed the sale they were holding to mark the occasion, many of their games are on sale again now. The current prices might not be as low as they were for the anniversary, but they are still pretty good for games including Galactic Civilizations III, Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion (producer interview), and more.
Enjoy the sale, even if your wallet does not.
