Guest_Jim_* Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Noctua had a presence at Computex 2018 last week and there it showed off a number of products, including upcoming coolers based on its NF-A12x25 120 mm fans. These fans promise to deliver the performance of a 140 mm fan in this smaller size, which could be very valuable in a CPU cooler. The 5th generation NH-U12 cooler specifically will be getting a pair of these fans in a push/pull configuration to complement its seven heat pipes. It will also offer 37% more surface area than the NH-U12S cooler, and when set against each other at cooling a 220 W load, they performed similarly. It is worth noting that the new NH-U12 cooler is smaller than the NH-U12S, especially as this relieves clearance issues with RAM. We can also expect a 140 mm version of the NF-A12x25 fans in the future as they are on the roadmap for H2 2019, along with many other prototype fans that were also shown off. Many other heatsinks were also shown off, including a performance update to the NH-L9x65, launching in Q1 2019, a future 140 mm C-type cooler, and prototype single and dual tower coolers. These prototype coolers are meant to improve the performance of the NH-D15, but which of the two to launch next year is still to be determined based on performance testing. If the tan and brown coloring of the Noctua parts is not to your liking, all-black versions of the NH-D15, NH-U12S, and NH-L9i from the chromax line were shown off with a scheduled release late this year or in Q1 2019, along with black versions of the NF-A20, NF-A12x15, NF-A9, NF-A9x14, and NF-A8 fans. Finally, if your computer is cool enough but you could use some better airflow, Noctua had a desk fan at the show. It uses an NF-A12x25 fan and a special three-way Airflow Amplification System to accelerate, enhance, and focus the airflow. Despite its limited size and quiet operation, the airflow could be felt 2 m away from the desk fan. It is currently a prototype and expected to be available sometime next year.
